Chapter 969: Going To The Theater
Rain chuckled as she nodded her head. "Don't worry. I will kill anyone who dares to do anything to my cute little brother."
After a few more warnings, Rain took Devan and carried him out of the room. Devan let out a sigh of relief to be able to escape the patty cake hell. "Thanks…."
"It's no problem. Mama is very obsessive when it comes to us. She is sometimes spacy, but she loves us with her very being. This is why we strive to grow stronger to stay by her side and help her on the path she has chosen to follow. Even I have left my family behind in order to grow stronger. I owe her so much." Rain explained.
Listening to Rain, Devan shook his head. "I do not think you owe her anything. Just as she does not owe me. Things happen, and that is just how it is. We can not stop any of it. What is destined is destined."
Devan knew this because it was destined for his mother to consume him to gain more power. This was just how fate worked sometimes. He held no hate or anger for what happened. In fact, he was glad that the woman who consumed him was his mother. But these were all things he would never let out as he knew it would cause his mother to feel even worse.
"Maybe you are right. I do not regret falling in love with my husband and having a family. I loved him dearly. But I have to say this. Devan. Thank you for not telling Mama everything…. It's best for the rest to be hidden in the past." Rain was glad her Mama only remembered that she had a son and only remembered the things that happened during her time in the sea of stars and nothing else. Whether one day those memories will surface again or not. They would deal with them then. At least for now, Devan had been reborn.
"Mm…. I wouldn't want her to know everything. I like how things are now. As long as she remembers the me of the past before she left the sea of stars, all is well." Devan replied with a smile on his cute pudgy face.
Rain smiled as she hugged her little brother. She did not find it strange to be having such a conversation with her little brother, who was only so old. She herself was able to converse with her Mama very well when she was born.
Rain was well known in the capital city, so when they arrived out on the street, all eyes were on her. But she ignored them as she carried Devan with her as they made their way down the street. She planned to take Devan to a place he might find interesting.
They walked towards a dugout theater where a play was about to begin. She had no idea if her brother had seen such a thing before or not, but she did hope it would prove entertaining to him. When they arrived, they still received many curious stares, but no one dared to brother Rain. This was also not Rain's first time here, so as soon as she arrived, the person taking tickets quickly ran over and greeted her. "Princess Rain!" He called out before pausing his steps and looked at the little boy in her arms. "This must be Prince Devan!"
"Mm…. is the box seat available?" Rain asked. There was only one box seat in the dugout theater, and it was not always available. Rain also never forced the one who took it to give it up, either. She would just go sit in the stands with the others. This made the citizens of the Devan Empire to see Rain as a Princess Saint even though she looked like a devil.
Of course, all three sisters were looked upon as saints because they were so kind to the citizens. Even Yana, who was normally cold to everyone but her family, would be seen playing with the kids at the orphanage.
It is because of this that the people of the Devan Empire all loved the new empress and her family. The Empress, while cruel to her enemies, was kind and gentle to her people. She would give them ways to make a living outside the normal means, even if they were bad at cultivation. With higher wages and the ability to gain resources at the colleges to bring up even the poorest of talents, the people who were living in poverty were starting to see a light of hope to be able to break free and provide more for their families. Even those in poor villages were living much better lives thanks to all the reforms and policies passed by Kana. It had truly become a happy empire.
"I am afraid the box seat is not available. A Prince from another nation had arrived earlier. I do apologize, Princess Rain, Prince Devan." The man bowed his head. He was happy that this was not the old royal family, or he would have been beheaded on the spot.
"No need. You apologize every time this happens, but I have never cared too much for the box seat. Sometimes it is better to sit with the rest of the audience and join in the small talk and laughter. " Rain said as she dug out a pair of tickets. "Here are two tickets. We will just find a random seat."
"Yes. choose whichever seat suits you best, but do be aware today the front row might get a little wet, so I suggest from the fourth row up." The man replied while giving a small warning. Rain smiled and gave her thanks before walking off.
In the box seat sitting there with his hand propped up, holding his head, a handsome young man in purple robes watched as the girl with the black halo walked towards the fourth row to find a seat. "Isn't that Princess Rain?"
"Yes, your highness." The man was the Prince of the Dong Kingdom. His name was Ding Dong.
