Chapter 849: The Dragon Festival Begins!
"These seats are not half bad." Rain said as she leaned back in her seat. Unlike the other seats that everyone else had to sit in, these ones were cushioned and allowed you to lean back and stretch your legs.
"They sure are. These old men really know how to relax while watching festivities." Yana stretched her legs and arms as she sank into the cushion.
Kana looked at her daughters, who were all lounging around as if they owned the place, and chuckled. She then looked at the few old men who were standing there acting like servants, giving her girls drinks and snacks, and shook her head. 'These old men really want to curry favor with her family.'
While Kana and her family were being treated like royalty, the white haired old man who first greeted Kana was pulled to the side by sect master Bing. "Sect master Tian why did you stop me earlier!?"
"You don't know who she is!?" Sect master Tian asked in surprise. He had a feeling that this idiot was just being an idiot and not believing in the rumors. But it seems he truly did not know Kana's identity.
Sect master Bing looked at sect master Tian and shook his head. He only now knew that the woman and her family were someone important.
"She and her family are the most powerful beings on this continent. If you had caused her to be angry, this whole continent could have been wiped out. You have heard of the angels, right? The ones hunting devil cultivators?" Sect master Tian explained.
"Yes…" Sect master Bing's body trembled. He had seen a few himself, and those things made him feel absolute fear. But as he thought about sect master Tian's words just now, he suddenly realized something. "Don't tell me…."
"Yes. They are under her control. She even wiped out the strongest of the devil cultivators and turned him into a door ornament, just like sec master Din, compressed into a crystal to have their bodies burned for all eternity. If you had continued, you would have ended up just like him." Sect master Tian felt a cold shiver running down his spine just thinking about it.
As for sect master Bing, he was covered in cold sweat. He only now realized how close he came to ending up like the others. He wondered where his head was. He had seen what had happened but yet still stepped out to continue arguing. He looked at sect master tian and bowed his head. "I owe you a life debt. My Heavenly Mountain Sect will be at beck and call."
"I do not need that. I just wanted to let you know. While normally that girl is good natured, do not cross her or her family members. I can only warn you." Sect master Tian replied before turning around and finding a seat. The entire first row was taken up by Kana's family. Even if there were free seats, no one dared to sit in the first row. So the other seats were all taken up based on the ranking of the sects. The only one sitting in the front seat that was not part of Kana's family was the sect master himself. After all, he was the sect master of Moon Crest Academy.
Down in the participant section, a strange thing was occurring. The other participants were all standing as far away from a certain group of contestants. "Big Sister Bell, are we really that scary?" Mei Ling asked. She felt a little gloomy knowing people are avoiding them like the plague.
"I am not sure. They seem to be more worried about something than scared." Bell blinked a few times as she gazed at the people around her.
It was true that the gazes of the people around them were not that of fear but the looks of those who were worried that if they did something wrong by accident that they would get into trouble.
"Why do I feel like we won't get to fight at all…." Tim complained. He had wanted to test his new abilities against the people of this world. He had learned a lot in the past few months and wanted to finally put it all to use.
"Big Sister Yana said that we should just use a mute spell on them so they can't give up, then they will have no choice but to fight." Mie Ling replied.
"Ahh! We can do that!" Tim felt a light bulb go off in his head. He made note to make sure he used a mute spell as soon as the match began.
"I am sure Master will say something if people keep giving up. She wants us to have a good time after all." Ako knew Kana wanted her children and grandchildren to use this chance to gain more experience otherwise, she would not have had them join.
"Now that you mention it. I do believe Mama will get mad if people just give up without even trying." Bell nodded her head agreeing with Ako's words. "Ah right…. Little Ling, Mama said to make sure you don't accidentally kill anyone. You need to be sure to restrict your power to the bare minimum. But if they say anything nasty to you, then things are different. You can go all out on those people."
"I will do my best not to kill anyone, but my strength is hard to control sometimes…." Mei Ling's powers were much stronger than Kana had anticipated. It seemed that Mei Ling also had a strange ancient bloodline in her, and it synergized well with her chaos core. It made Mei Ling's strength rise to the point that she could even push Yana back with a single strike.
"Don't worry, if you can't. Mama won't hold it against you." Bell reached out and rubbed Mei Ling's head. She really liked this younger sister of hers.
"Mm…" Mei Ling smiled as she leaned toward Bell. She really enjoyed head pats.
Lord Yong suddenly clapped his hands, gaining everyone's attention. "Alright, the first part of the tournament will begin soon. I want all of you to get ready. Your positions have already been decided and each one of you will be on different stages. Work hard, and do your best!"
