Chapter 444: The Past: Seal
As the years and months passed, the sea of stars finally went back to normal. It had taken a long time, but Ar'en and Kana were able to fully take over the sea of stars. Once everything was settled, the first thing Kana wanted to do was visit the old site where her clan used to live.
"This is where you used to live?" Ar'en looked at the huge crater that did not look like a place someone could live in and frowned. He wondered just how scared the humans were of Kana's race.
"To be honest, I do not know where my people originated from. I was only ten at the time and living a carefree life. But that day, they came and destroyed my home and killed my entire clan, leaving me as the only survivor. I was lost and full of hate. I stole and killed anyone who even looked at me wrong. I was like that all the way up until I made it to the demon's domain. There I was accepted, and people helped me get by until I was old enough to fully take care of myself. The innkeeper where I lived for ten years treated me like her own daughter. I once again understood what kindness was and that not all people in the world were full of hate. But then it happened. Those bastards took away my home again.
"Now, almost a thousand years later, I am able to come back and finally lay everyone to rest." Kana flew over to the crater and slowly floated down. "Ar'en… Don't come near me right now..."
Ar'en, who was about to land, nodded and flew back up into the sky. He had no idea what she was about to do, so he could only sit back and watch. Kana turned and smiled at him before turning back and kneeling down on the ground. One thing she did remember from when she was young was the proper way to send off the souls of the dead of their clan.
Kana closed her eyes, clasped her hands, and lowered her head. "To those who have fallen, I pray upon your deaths…" As she finished the sentence, she took a deep breath and began to sing an ancient song. The words made no sense to Ar'en, but he felt calm as the soothing sound of Kana's signing entered his ears.
But as he looked up at the sky, a cold sweat formed on his back where a crack had suddenly appeared! An overwhelming power poured out of it, so powerful that he was almost pushed out of the sky. And from that crack, a large eye was staring down. It was looking directly at Kana. Ar'en wanted to rush forward. He was afraid that the eye was something bad, but before he could even get a few steps, a golden column light suddenly shot down and fell on top of Kana. Kana raised her head and smiled, before shaking it, never stopping her song. Once the eye saw her shake her head, the light disappeared, and then an archaic voice filled the air: "Then little one follow your heart..."
After the voice fell, the crack in the sky disappeared as if it was never there. Ar'en was not sure what that was all about, but he had a feeling that it had something to do with Kana's people's true origins.
Ar'en saw that Kana's song was about to complete and went to step forward only to found that his feet were stuck in place. "This?" His eyes flashed with understanding. He fell into some kind of trap! He looked down at Kana, who seemed to be struggling to get up. He could only guess the song she was singing was some sort of power.
"Haha! You do not need to worry about the little bitch. She will die soon, and you will be frozen for all eternity!" An old man suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It was the same old man who failed to kill Kana all those years ago.
Ar'en knew right away something was seriously wrong because he could not gather any of this strength. "Sho! Take Kana and flee!"
Sho appeared out of nowhere and stood in front of Ar'en: "Ar'en, I can not leave you!"
"Just do it! If you still consider me a friend and brother, then take my wife and run away from here! You should know I am only saying this because I know I can not break free!" Ar'en did not care about himself. He only cared for Kana's safety. She had suffered enough!
Sho hesitated and was unsure of what to do. But his mind almost blanked when he saw two old men stabbing out at Kana. "Damnit!' Sho tried his best to get to Kana first, but he was a step too late as two swords pierced her body!
"Kana! No! Damn it, Sho, get her out of here! Now!" Ar'en eyes were blood red as he stared at the blood flowing from Kana's wounds. He wanted to kill those old bastards with everything he had. But no matter how much he tried, he couldn't muster up any strength or use any spells.
"Haha! It is our win Ar'en. To think you would have such a day. We hid in the one spot we were sure you could come. We have waited a long time for you bastards."
"Cut that damn woman's head off!" The eye in the sky was not seen by these seven old men. They also could not hear the archaic voice. To them, nothing happened besides Kana singing in the middle of a crater.
"Shooooo!" Ar'en yelled once more. Sho stopped panicking and scooped up Kana, and quickly created a tear in space, escaping from the crater with everything he had.
"Damn it! What does this girl have, a million lives!? She always gets away at the last second!"
"Forget about that! She is nothing now that Ar'en is almost fully sealed. Right, Ar'en? Soon you will be nothing more than a living statue. Someone who is to be frozen in time forever. As for your little bride. Once we find her, we will place her head next to your frozen body. It is the least we can do! Hahaha! The sea of stars now belongs to the human domain! A new age is about to begin!!"
