A few days have passed, and rumors began to quickly spread, saying that the new empress killed the Wang clan's third young master unjustly. While many did not believe such rumors, this did not mean that they would stop the spread. After all, not long has gone by since Kana became empress, and she had already passed down judgment on to one of the biggest clans in the empire.
As for Kana, she was busy once more reading a bunch of reports that she did not wish to read, but as the empress, she had no choice. "Your Highness, the officials are waiting for you at court."
Kana frowned as she put the report down and looked at this new servant of hers, who still looked sickly but had eyes filled with determination. "Alright. Let's go see what these old foogies have to complain about today."
Kana for up and was instantly covered in a spirit silk woven shawl, as well as having her hair put up with a jade hair stick. "Is this really necessary?"
"Your Highness, you are the empress of the Devan Empire. You must look the part." The young woman replied. She, out of all people, was grateful to Kana because of Kana, she was able to escape a fate worse than a dog. Being treated as an animal every day had made her wish for a better life no matter the cost, and was even willing to risk it all to escape, but now she had a new lease on life, and that was all thanks to the new empress who she found to be very kind, unlike the rumors that were being passed around outside.
Kana looked at the girl who was speaking seriously and sighed. "Alright. Just not too much, or my head will break off. But Xue, remember not to work too hard. Your body is still weak. So take breaks when you begin to feel tired."
Xue, the servant girl, smiled and nodded her head. "Thanks to your highness, I have even gained a few pounds these past few days. But Your Highness, more importantly, the rumors outside."
"Rumors? Just ignore them. People will talk, and it doesn't bother me any. If they think I am evil and will cut people's heads off to steal their souls, then so be it. Maybe it will keep people in line and keep them from bothering me." Kana replied with a wave of her hand.
When Xue heard this, she understood that her empress did not wish to be bothered, so this worked out perfectly for her. "Then, should I spread more horrible rumors?"
"Please don't…." Kana said with a chuckle when she saw Xue's playful smile. Kana was glad this girl could still smile after all she had been through. The other girls were all quiet and barely spoke out of line, only Xue seemed different. This was why she appointed Xue as her personal servant.
As Kana walked into court, Xue followed behind her and stood at the side. This was her right as a personal servant. Kana sat on her throne lazily and yawned as she looked at all the officials and ministers who helped her run the empire and asked: "So what are the issues today?"
One old man took the floor and bowed as he said: "Your Highness, the crime rate throughout the empire has dropped drastically due to the rumor going around about you. The thought of a soul being ripped out and turned into a door ornament has helped greatly in this."
"Mm…. I will need to thank the Wang clan for helping out with this. They had inadvertently helped the empire even though they were trying to slander me and cause an uprising. Let the rumor continue no matter how bad it gets." Kana preferred to look like a tyrant if it meant the lives of the people were getting better because of it.
"The new education system that Princess Angelica has proposed seems to be going well. Those scholars who graduated the college are now teaching younger boys and girls of the empire. New roads are also being implemented with routine guard traffic with the new Devan Police Force." The old man explained.
"Good. Make sure there are rest stations and teleport points within those rest stations in case of emergencies. How is the hunt for metal ore going?" Kana had issued many reforms and wanted to build up and advance the technology of the Devan empire by leaps and bounds.
"We have found six nodes of ore that we can start mining at any time. With the ore yard south of the capital almost ready to receive the incoming ore. There it will be refined and forged into the modular buildings you were talking about." The old man replied.
Kana was taking things from her previous life that could easily be replicated for the time being. This meant modular skyscrapers that could easily interlock and be built as high as she wanted without issue. In other words, she planned to rebuild the entire capital.
"Good first build in the vacant lots with the new housing complexes and then begin acquisition of the properties. Each family will gain one floor of each building as their own. Ask them how they wish to have their mystic realm apartment made, and we will prepare it for them." Mystic realm apartments were apartments turned into mystic realms. This allowed for rows upon rows of doors in each hallway that all led to a separate mystic realm. With the help of her daughters, they could set up a few thousand at a time without a problem, so the process was quick.
"We will be sure to take a survey for each family. Your Highness, how will policing work for these mystic realms?" Another official asked.
"Mystic realms will not be too big. If an incident is reported with a missing person or something else, the police still have a right to investigate without being bared as long as it is done justly. But they must have probable cause. "
