Chapter 237: Undercurrents Part 7
"Mmm… But you do not seem to be too surprised to see me so soon either." Kana could sense that it seemed that the King had been expecting her.
"Well… if history has taught us anything, it is those that come from the outside, are insanely strong. In order to reach this level alone, you would need enough strength to wipe out a few countries. What you did for my kingdom today, although we lost a few thousand of our own people, is something that I can not thank you enough for. Because you exceeded the requirement to speak to me, I will allow you two requests." The king got straight to the point.
"Then, for my first request, I want you to give the three girls who were with me a good life where they do not need to lay their lives on the line in order to survive. Pelia, Mina, and Yori. They are all good girls who deserve a better life." Kana had hoped for a second request since she had almost fifteen million prestige points.
"Simple enough. I will set them up for life." The king found Kana to be a very likable person. He had never expected her to give up one of her requests to help people she had just met. "And I guess your second request is for me to lift the barrier, correct?"
"Yes. I need to move on. I can no longer waste time here. I got people waiting for me. " Kana answered while nodding her head.
"Then follow me." The king rose from his seat and waved his hands at the guards. Soon the whole room was emptied, and the King brought Kana to the backside of his throne. Seeing this, Kana suddenly realized something as she looked at the king suspiciously. The king looked at kana and smiled: "It is as you are thinking. You had two ways to enter this place. The first way was to do as you did just now, and the second was to do so by force. This level is different from the others, and the levels beyond this are even more strange compared to this place."
The king knew what he was from the start. This fact surprised Kana. he was the boss of this level. She watched as the king hit a button on the side of the throne. The sound of gears turning could be heard as the throne moved forward, revealing a staircase. "I wish you the best of luck. But I must say you are truly lucky, or should I say I am truly lucky. If you have ventured into the other domain, you would have had to lead their army to raid our lands in order to gain access to the next level. By doing so, not only would my kingdom cease to exist, but the people who live here would also cease to be. I leave you with these parting words. In the next levels to come, be careful of your choices. One wrong move will result in your death."
"I shall keep this advice to heart. Take care." Kana gave a slight bow before heading down the stairs. She had spent a lot of time on this level, more so than she had ever expected. But now, she was finally moving on. She could not say that she did not wish to have been able to say goodbye to the others, but things were too hard to explain, and after the way she put her newfound friends in danger, she could not bring herself to face them. She had been cold and distant. She was just happy they were still alive.
Kana reached the bottom of the stairs and pushed open the small metal door...
A few days later… "Why does the king want to see us!? We are not getting beheaded, are we!?" Pel asked. She was already covered in a cold sweat. She had never been in front of royalty before, and now she was being asked to meet the king!
"Relax, if they wanted to behead us, would they have sent us these dresses and escorted us in this fancy carriage?" Mina rolled her eyes. Pel seemed to always think of the worst case scenario.
"Then… Then… Did the king fall for my womanly charms!? But my Knight..." Pel cried as she looked at the name on her arm.
"Haha! If that was the case, would the king not be a little strange since Yori is here with us too. I think something is going on that they asked us to come. If my guess is not right, it should have something to do with Kana. Right, Yori? Yori?" Mina looked over to see Yori's face pale. It looked as if she had seen a ghost.
"He's not going to force me down, is he. I mean, I am so young I am not ready for that kind of thing. Mina, Pel, is it possible to run away!?" Yori was now panicking as well.
"Yori, what I said was a joke. Relax. Both of you, just take a deep breath and relax." Mina chuckled and patted Yori on the head. "We will be there with you, so do not worry."
"Mm..." Yori felt a little relieved after she heard this.
Throne room…
The king sat up high on his throne, looking down at the three girls. "It is a pleasure to meet you ladies. I am sure you are wondering why you were brought here to meet with me. I will not beat around the bush. At the request of Miss Kana, the three of you will now be given an estate and enough money to live off of for the rest of your lives. You will also be granted the title of second class ladies, making you nobles. You no longer need to put your lives in danger in order to survive."
Teardrops fell from all three girls' eyes. They had never expected that they would be given a life without struggle. But more than that, what hit their hearts the most was that Kana went out of her way to make such a request for them. Pel wiped her tears as she sniffed. "Is she a goddess..."
"Weren't you the one who wanted her to buy us food? "Mina poked Pel's side, tears streaming down her cheeks. She then turned to the king and bowed her head. "Your Majesty, may I ask a question?"
"She is alive. And no, you will not be able to see her again. Before she left, she had requested that you three have lives without struggle or death looming over your heads. I called you here to keep my promise. What you do from here is your own choice. Take these keys, and the carriage that sent you here will bring you to your new home. If you wish to find a job in a field you are interested in, send a letter to the castle, and we will do what we can to train you in it."
Although this was a dungeon, the ninetieth floor was a world of its own. On this day, Kana had changed the lives of these three girls and had paved the way for new future paths the girls could never have dreamed about.
Ninety first floor…
"Oh ho? Sisters, it seems we have a visitor for the first time in a long time… I wonder how this little seedling will fare..."
