Chapter 837: Walking And Talking With Yana
"Angelica, I do not think it was so much that Mama didn't do it because she had more things to deal with but more because she wanted us to check it out on our own. I think this was why she asked us if we wished to check it out instead of just doing it herself." Rain knew her Mama always paid attention to her daughters, so she would have easily noticed her interest in the fog.
"Now that you mention it, this is probably so…." Angelica smiled softly as she looked off in the direction of town. "This is just like Mama as well."
Hearing his daughters talk amongst themselves made Creige smile. His girls understood their mother more than anyone. Sometimes better than himself. He was happy that in this life, he could create such a big family with Kana.
Back on Kana's side of things, she walked with Yana and Ako at her side with a wide smile on her face. "Mama, why didn't you probe the fog yourself?" Yana asked curiously.
"Hmmm? Because Rain looked interested in it. As a mother, I should support her interest. This way, when she tells me her findings, I will be truly surprised. I want to give a pure reaction, not a fake one that has no meaning. You girls are old enough to tell fake from real. And I do not wish to push fake emotions on you girls. I love you all very much and always want to wear my heart on my sleeve when it comes to you girls. " Kana replied while taking Yana's hand. "Just like when I saw your sword skills for the first time, I was truly amazed at how much you have grown up over the years.
"Even if I have this power now and could easily look deep into the fog and see what was hiding, I will never do it just because one of you showed interest in it. I would only look into the fog if something bad happens or I am asked to do so. I missed so many years of you girls' lives that I want to walk slowly and learn everything about you girls one step at a time. What your likes are, what you hate. What you have experienced through your lives. Every bit of it. I wish to imagine it and dream that I was there walking beside you, watching you do it with my own eyes." Kana's eyes started to water up. She really could not forgive herself for missing so much of her babies' lives, no matter how much time passed.
"Mama!" Yana hugged Kana tightly and buried her face into Kana's neck, her eyes full of tears. "From now on, we will walk with Mama. Whatever path we will tread will be the path you walk. Whether it leads to our deaths, I do not care. I promised myself the day you disappeared that I would work to get strong and protect you. And walk by your side once more…
"Mama, the moment you picked me up and saved me all those years ago, I was so grateful that I did not know how to repay you, so I worked hard and followed the path of blood to gain strength. Even though it was hard sometimes, and I have almost died a few times, you gave me strength. If it was not for Mama, I would never have been able to experience anything at all. I would have been a puppet until the day I died. My short life would have ended before it could even start." Yana had tears rolling down her cheeks as she hugged her Mama tighter, not wanting to let go. This woman was her angel. The woman who saved her from her hell.
Ako watched the mother and daughter from the side with a warm smile. It seemed her Master had a habit of saving people. She wondered if she would one day have a chance to do the same.
As Kana and Yana calmed their emotions, a group of slimes began making their way out of the town. Some were in slime form, while others were in humanoid form. Those in humanoid form were carrying weapons and were heading straight towards Kana position.
Kana turned her head and saw the people rushing over and frowned. "Ako, should we try to talk with them or just beat them up?"
"We should just try to talk. They are not part of my home clan. But if they attack us, then I will kill them all…. No one is allowed to attack Master." Ako's eyes turned sharp as she watched the slimes coming to a stop in front of them.
"Strangers go no further!" A tall, muscular blue slime in human form stepped forward with a large spear in his hands. He did not have any aggressiveness in his voice but more wariness. He was wary of the three beings standing in front of him because he could feel their strength, and it was much more powerful than anyone in this small village. But even so, he still had to stand firm.
"Stand down!" Ako stepped forward and ordered. "I am a slime from the old clans. We are just making our way to my old home."
"You do not look like any kind of slime I have seen before. How do I know you are telling the truth?" The tall, muscular blue slime asked.
"Do you think we need to prove anything?" Ako said with a faint smile. "You do realize that we can easily destroy that town of yours, right? We just want to pass through without causing any trouble."
"You say that, but how can we believe you?" The tall, muscular slime knew he should just relent, but he could not do so. If anything happened, it would be on him.
Kana reached out and patted Ako's shoulder before stepping forward. "Then we can just go around your town. We will not bother you. You can even escort us if you would like to keep an eye on us."
