Chapter 743: The Wind King Ape Part 1
Morning light shined over the treetops, penetrating in between the leaves and landing gently on Kana's face. Curled up with her head in Kana's lap was Kori. It seemed she had taken to sleeping while alone as it had allowed her to pass the time. So while Kana cultivated, Kori took the chance to rest and sleep. Kana's eyes fluttered as she came out of her cultivative state and looked up at the orange light of the morning.
She looked down at Kori and smiled. Using her hand to pet the top of Kori's head, her eyes soft and yet sad. Kori reminded her so much of her own babies. She missed them so much. It made her feel depressed, knowing she had missed out so much on her children's lives. Their childhoods, their first loves, their firstborns…. "If only I could turn back time… Maybe there is a time element, then I can…."
Kana was unsure if she should even have such a thought. If there truly was a time element, she would want it no matter what. She would turn back time to be with her babies. But when she thought about how she would miss out on meeting Bell and raising her into the beautiful woman she was now or how she would miss out on finding Kori, she felt conflicted. "I guess one can never want everything…. But if possible, I will make everything right. I will live out my days trying to make up for being such a horrible mother to my babies."
Tears trickled down Kana's cheeks but they never got to fall as a cold hand reached up and wiped them away. "Crying?" Kori's little voice entered Kana's ears, causing her to look down at the young girl and smile. "I just thought of something sad, is all. Kori, I promise I will never leave you alone, okay?"
Kori was confused at Kana's sudden declaration but still nodded her head. She did not wish to leave Kana either. She snuggled her nose into Kana's stomach and hugged her waist. This caused Kana to smile and hug the little girl back.
It took Kana and Kori four more days to reach the area where the wind king ape lived. It was a place with no demonic beasts, but Kana could sense a strong demonic beast deep within a cave. "Kori, we are about to face a strong enemy I will be counting on you to back Mama up, okay?" Kana didn't even realize she called herself Mama, and Kori did not seem to care either. She smiled brightly and nodded her head. "I will protect Mama!"
Kana paused for a second before smiling and patting Kori's head. Even though Kori was an elemental, Kana still saw her as her own family, so her calling Kana mama was not all that wrong.
The two slowly walked into the cave and were quickly greeted by a loud booming voice. "Puny beings dare enter my territory?"
Kana was not surprised at all that this wind king ape could talk. She cleared her throat and answered: "You have caused a lot of trouble for those who live below. Causing beast tides, killing many who had no way to defend themselves."
"Your kind has been killing those on my mountain for thousands of years! Why should I care about a few weak ants? You more than anyone should know that only the strong make the rules." The booming voice replied mockingly.
Kana hated to say it, but the wind king ape was correct. "Then I guess we will see who is the true ruler of this mountain today. Prove to me that you are strong."
Kana did not wish to enter the cave. She would rather have the wind king ape come to her. This was why she was trying to instigate it to come and attack her. Only by doing this would she save herself a lot of hassle.
"You have some guts!" The booming voice rang out. "So be it!"
After hearing the voice one last time, the ground began to shake as sounds of a large creature came from the cave. Kana pulled Kori's hand and brought her further away from the cave entrance.
From the dark recesses of the cave, a large white and grey ape walked out. It was about six Kana tall and had muscles as big as cars. It looked around until its eyes landed on Kana. "Oh? A divine beast? Hmmm, I changed my mind. Instead of killing you, I will make you my wife."
Kana was starting to wonder if all males of any race were all the same, thinking with the thing between their legs instead of their brains. She drew her sword and stood in front of Kori. "You talk big for a demonic beast who is about to die. I really wonder if I can break through to rank five if I consume your beast core."
"Haha! I like my women strong!" The king wind ape pounded his chest and charged at Kana. It did not take Kana very seriously. But when it got a few meters closer, it quickly stopped in its tracks and did a backflip in retreat. It eyed Kana cautiously as it began to pace back and forth. "What are you?"
"Hmmm? A dragon?" Kana tilted her head as she answered, looking at the wind king ape as if it was an idiot.
"A dragon nonsense! What is that strange power coming out of you and the little ant?" The wind king ape could sense strange powers emanating from both Kana and Kori. But it was not spiritual qi which confused it. And because it was confused by it, it did not dare to get close. It was not able to reach its current cultivation by being reckless. It had always been cautious of things it did not know.
"Power? I am sorry, but can you be more specific? Are you going to fight, or will you give up your head freely? I kinda have other things to do." Kana answered with pursed lips. She just wished to hurry up and accomplish this task because she still had to go investigate the entrance to the cave Kori was found in. But she also did not wish to kill the wind king ape our right, she needed to use it for practice!
