Chapter 153: A Strange Cat Goddess Part Two
Nergal walked into a building and waved her hand. When she did, five black cats appeared out of nowhere. "Go protect my dear Ceilie. Do not let any harm come to her, or I will feed you to Cerberus."
The five black cats shivered as they disappeared in a puff of black smoke. Nergal walked over to a door and entered it. "Father..."
"Nergal, you're here. I wanted to ask what is going on with you. I have heard you have been going to the mortal world as of late." A cat man sat behind his desk with his hands folded together as he looked at Nergal.
"Mmm… I have. I have found my true love, so I want you to cancel the engagement between me and that bastard Prince Smr." Nergal did not try to hide anything and was completely honest.
"Oh?" The Nergal's father narrowed his eyes as he looked at his daughter. "Who is this person you love?"
"My dear Ceilie..." Nergal said with a sweet smile on her face. Her eyes sparkling with love.
"I see. I understand. But I can not promise anything. The royals seem adamant about binding our two families together. They are afraid that our family will revolt against them." Nergal's father let out a sigh. He did not want to keep his daughter from the one she loved. He did not care if they were mortal or what gender they were as long as his daughter was happy.
"Then let Prince Smir marry Cerberus! Even then, marrying our family's dog is still too good for him. How about we find a stink bug in the mortal world and give it our family name that will work." Nergal said with a cheeky smile on her face.
Nergal's father shook his head with a smile. "You're such a little trouble maker. Let your father handle this. I will figure something out. Maybe I will marry one of the royals' daughters to one your brothers."
"Ehh? Why make my brothers suffer... Well, anyway, I must be off. I need to keep an eye on my dear Ceilie. I will be off now, father." Nergal stood up and waved goodbye to her father before running out of the office.
Nergal's father looked at his daughter retreating back and smiled helplessly. "I guess I will have to go face that old goat and take care of things."
Back in the mortal world, Ceilie was currently killing a mob of monsters. She was running and shooting her bow, one arrow after the other. "Why did they have to show up right when I was about to attack!!" Ceilie felt depressed. She had moved east and found a group of five wind horses and was going to kill them off with ease when a pack of fifty horned wolves came out of nowhere and attacked her prey right as she shot her first arrow. The arrow ended up hitting one of the horned wolves instead, causing them to chase after her.
Ceilie ended up having to kite these horned wolves for almost two hours until she was finally able to kill them all. Out of breath, Ceilie leaned up against a rocket to relax a little. "I will need to find a place to hide. At least I got my final level… As for my evolution choices… I never heard of a Sunfire War Cat before… I wonder if it is powerful. I can either go that or a Shadow Cat…. Each are good choices."
Sunfire War Cat was a more offensive based evolution that would allow Ceilie to fire, fire arrows at will. While the shadow cat evolution was more stealthy. It would allow her to slip into the shadows and ambush her targets. Ceilie closed her eyes and enjoyed the breeze but quickly opened them when she felt something heavy on her lap. But when she opened her eyes, she was stunned to see a beautiful cat girl sitting there looking back at her with her deep dark green eyes. "My dear Ceilie… We finally meet..."
Ceilie was confused as to where this cat girl came from. She had not felt the cat girl's presence at all. Although the cat girl was smiling, Ceilie still went on the defensive. "Who are you!?"
"Relax, my dear Ceilie! I would never hurt you. I am here to help you, actually. You are about to evolve, are you not?" The cat girl leaned in close and whispered into Ceilie's ear, causing Ceilie to shiver.
"Get off me!" Ceilie yelled out as she pushed her hands against the cat girl. But instead of hitting anything, the cat girl suddenly jumped up and landed lightly on her feet. Ceilie quickly rose to her feet and drew her weapon.
"My dear Ceilie, calm down. I really am not here to hurt you. Look." The cat girl flicked her fingers, and a green light shined on Ceilie's body, healing all her wounds.
Ceilie saw her wounds healing and slowly lowered her weapon. Although she was still vigilant against the catgirl in front of her, she was no longer ready to attack. "I understand that you are not going to harm me as of now. But what would I let you guard me during my evolution when I don't even know you?"
"Hmm? Well… How about this… we will travel together for a while and get to know each other. My name is Nergal, and I am a cat goddess..."
"Mugu… Roasted rabbit..." Kana mumbled in her sleep, causing Creige to chuckle. Her eyes slowly began to open. She sat up and looked around while rubbing her eyes with her front paws. "How long was I asleep."
"For five hours. It is already nighttime now. How are you feeling?" Creige asked.
"Much better..." Kana said as she switched her element back to fire and also used her [Transform] spell to return to her humanoid form. She then moved to sit in Creige's lap with her body facing him. She put her arms around his neck and pushed her lips against his. When their lips parted, Kana lowered her head, slight feeling embarrassed as she said: "Thank you again for protecting me."
