Chapter 948: Kana The Empress? Part 2
"I don't want to be your empress!" Kana yelled out. She then began dragging the man with her as she tried to talk out the door. But the more steps she took, the more old man who latched onto her legs.
"Empress, please reconsider!"
"Empress, please reconsider!"
"Empress, please reconsider!"
A strange chant began to take place, causing Kana to become very much annoyed.
"Ahhhh! If you do not let go right now, I will toss you all into a void!" Kana yelled out in frustration.
"Hahaha! Something interesting is going on here." A familiar voice echoed through the throne room, catching everyone's attention.
Kana looked over to see the old man standing there with a small grin on his face. "Old man, why are you here?"
"I thought I'd stop in when I saw you were having issues. Kana, you should try being an empress for a while." The old man suddenly said, catching Kana off guard.
"Huh?" Kana did not understand why she needed to become an empress.
"You see, when you reach Aurora and settle in, you will be in charge of many things. If you wish to have your family have a place there and build up a foundation that your offspring can leverage, you will need to have knowledge in running a city or large plot of land with citizens who rely on you. Think of it as a kind of training for the future, because whether it be Aurora, Eden, or even the Void of Oblivion. You will need a foundation. Wouldn't an empire such as this, where you can easily stand at the top, be a good place to practice?" The old man asked.
"Old man, I can just get rid of anyone who dares to harm my family, including you, so what need do I have to worry about people trying to harm my family and me?" Kana was still confused, she saw no reason to learn to rule over anything.
"Because your offspring will need a place to settle down. Not all of them will want to move on, will they? Your current family members aside, are you not going to have more of them later on? What if they decide to settle down? What then? Can you always be next to them?" The old man was not being unreasonable, but he wanted Kana to prepare for everything. This included knowing how to be a good ruler, as she would be taking his place one day as well.
Kana realized what the old man said did make sense. She would need to lay a foundation for those who were to come. But the thought of doing all that work made Kana frown. She hated desk work!
With a sigh, she looked down at the old men still attached to her legs and sighed once more. "Fine! But only for a short time!"
"Haha, good! I will be off then. Kana, remember being a ruler means you will also need to leave your offspring behind as well to inherit your position. So you can add more family members now if you so wish." After saying this, the old man disappeared.
"You can all let go now!" Kana yelled out. She kicked the old men away and walked back to the throne, and sat down. She tapped her finger off the armrest a few times before turning her attention to the old men again. "I need all of you to work with me. Each one of you needs to teach me the proper way of being a ruler."
"Yes, Your Highness!" All the old men cheered upon hearing Kana's words. They had only come to try to get Kana to be their empress, and now it seemed to have worked! They had no idea who the other old man was, but they all decided to worship him from now on.
That night after pouncing on Creige, Kana explained everything that had happened during the day to him. "It's not a bad idea. After all, you did plan to expand the family. And it is not like we are in a hurry anymore. We can slowly take our time and progress higher and higher until we finally reach our final goal."
"Mmm… So we will have many babies! Maybe the next one will be a son." Kana said with a smile on her face. But this caused Creige's face to show a tinge of sadness for a split second. 'They already had a son….'
Luckily Kana did not notice the sadness in his eyes when Creige heard the word son. Under Kana's urging, he took up his position and began giving it his all to produce more offspring.
The next morning Kana was being made up. Since she was going to become the empress, she needed to have a proper coronation ceremony where she would be made the empress in the eyes of everyone in the empire. To make sure things were going to go smoothly, Kana did not wish for any kingdom or other nation to try to stir up trouble, so she put a barrier around the entire empire, which caused a stir amongst the people since this was a feat on a scale no one thought was possible. For Kana sticking up a barrier of this size was nothing. She could easily do so with a wave of her hand.
For this special day, everyone returned to the palace to be there to support Kana. "Mama, are you really doing this?"
"Mmm…. The old man made a lot of sense. At some point, our family members will not want to follow along and will want to settle down. Bell is an example of this. Rain also settled down for a long time as well. And when we reach Aurora, our journey will be slowed to a snail's pace as we settle in and get ready to move on once more. You can just think of this as a pause in our journey."
