Chapter 401: Dandan
Kana was very confused. She did not sense it at all. But now that she was being told such things, everything seemed to kind of make sense with Amy's sudden closeness. But Kana also felt that Amy was not a bad person either, so now Kana was confused as to what to do. "Dandan, what should I do? I only love my husband and would never be able to return Amy's feelings."
"I-I don't know either… I have never been in love, nor have I had anyone like me before..." Dandan blushed slightly. Just the thought of love was foreign to her. She had dreamt about it many times when she saw some of the girls in the academy showing their love for each other, but she knew with who she was, she would never meet anyone who would actually like her. Right now, she felt fortunate to even have a friend. She had only known Kana for two days, and she felt these past two days were the best days of her life.
Dandan was created by the Harbringers. She was supposed to be a chimera who could even surpass a god king that could be easily mass produced, but in the end, she was a failure. Her strength at the time was not strong enough to stand up to much of anything. As such, she was tossed away.
Luckily she was found by Miss Mairin and brought back to the academy, where she was then raised. No one actually knew this fact. No one knew what Dandan really was. This was until around the time Dandan was in her second evolution. Miss Mairin was overheard speaking to a few high gods about Dandan's situation as she began showing signs of substantial growth. This student spread it around the academy that Dandan was from the side of dark, causing people to begin to shun her. Since then, she had spent the past few years being made fun of and picked on, being bullied to extreme extents. This caused Dandan's self esteem to shrink into almost nothing.
Miss Mairin turned a blind eye to the bullying. Dandan has asked her for help many times, but Miss Mairin just brushed it off and told her to stand up for herself. But how was someone who was being bullied day in and day out supposed to stand up for themselves when she had no one backing her up? She only knew Miss Mairin and was reliant on her for her daily needs.
Dandan did not understand these things and began to just put up with it. She showed a smile in front of Miss Mairin, afraid if she did not, she would end up being cast aside. But then Miss Mairin had come and given her a task. That task was to help a new student, and this student was none other than Kana.
Dandan expected to be picked on by Kana as well at first, but she still kept up the friendly, outgoing act while in the office. When she realized Kana did not seem to care about her past, Dandan decided it would be best for Kana not to be around her so she would not suffer along with her. But who would have thought Kana would turn her down and even wanted to be her friend.
At that time, Dandan wanted to cry, but she tried her best to hold them back, although a little unsuccessfully. Not only did Kana become her friend, but she also stuck up for her. Such a thing had never happened to Dandan before. She never felt so happy to be alive. Her outlook on life had completely changed in a single day. That was why she was able to stand up for herself this time.
Dandan knew she had the strength to defend herself, but she felt she was too strong and would be seen as a freak. Her low self esteem also made it hard for her to fight against others as well. This was why she tried to give those girls a warning earlier. But they still did not listen. But in a way, she felt refreshed. She felt that maybe now her life would be different. With Kana allowing her to live with her, she would now be able to see what was outside the academy.
"Ahhh!" Kana yelled out. "I will have dinner with her tomorrow and try to explain things in a way she will understand. I just feel bad and don't want to hurt Amy's feelings."
"Mmm… That is because you are a nice person Kana." Dandan said with a smile. Kana was indeed a kind person.
"Now I have to explain this all to Creige so he won't be mad at me..." This was the hardest part. She didn't know how to explain that she had been hit on all day without knowing it and somehow even agreed to go out on a date with someone else!
"I can help you explain if you want..." Dandan offered. She did not like seeing Kana so distressed like this.
"Thanks, Dandan!" Kana hugged Dandan. She was her only savior out of this mess!
While Kana was stressing over how to reject Amy without hurting her feelings, a woman in blue stood outside the gates to the elementary academy. She waved her hand and caused the guard to fall asleep as she easily walked into the Academy. It was break time, so all the students were outside having fun playing games.
The woman in blue looked around and saw her target playing in the sand with her sisters. She walked right up to the sand box, reached out, and grabbed the little girl by the scruff of her clothes. "Sorry, girls, but I need to borrow your sister for a little while."
But to the woman in blues words, the other two little girls did not say a word. They just continued playing in the sand as they shook their heads. "Let go..." A soft and young voice filled the women in blues ears. "I said… LET GO!"
