Chapter 433: The Past: Love For An Eternity Part 2
Tilia wiped her tears and looked at Keniil, and nodded her head. "This is a good idea. It won't be as bad for those who were uninvolved. But do not let them know. We will do it in secret. This way, it doesn't look like I am showing leniency."
"As you wish, Your Majesty. As for my men, how long do you wish to keep them?" Keniil asked.
"Until I am fully healed, and things have been settled. If that is okay." Tilia felt bad for keeping his people here for so long. She was truly indebted to him for all he has done.
"There is no rush. I was just wondering. I will take my leave now." Keniil bowed his head slightly before turning and walking out of the room.
Ceilie sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Tilia. "Are you sure you do not want to tell Kana?"
"No. It would just worry her for nothing. The issue has also been resolved. In the future, there will surely be times when I am going to be on my own. So this was good practice in a way." Tilia said with a forced smile.
"Good practice, my ass. Tilia, you almost died! You need to be more careful. This time you survived, but what about next time? Nergal and I talked. We decided we will move into the castle for a while and work as your guards. I do not want to see you missing half your body ever again." Ceilie wanted to reach the realm of gods as fast as possible, but she couldn't just leave when her sister was in a position where she could die any moment. Due to the reforms and other factions who dislike her taking the throne, her life is always in danger. Her brother and sisters are doing what they could, but they can not protect her from everything.
"Your Highness, your bath is ready." Trez announced as she walked back into the bedroom from the large bath Ar'en had installed for Kana.
"Thank you." Kana smiled as she took the towel from Trez. She walked into the bathroom and paused when she realized Trez had followed her in. "Is there something wrong?"
"I will help Your Highness wash your hair and back." Trez answered with a sincere look. But on the inside, she wanted to cry: "Your Majesty, why do you need me to report every detail and mark on her highness's body!? Why must I behave like a pervert!?"
Kana didn't think much of it. When she was little, she also used to have someone come to wash her hair and back for her as she bathed. She got undressed and walked to the large open bath that had steam rising off the water's surface. "How long has it been..."
Kana couldn't remember the last time she had a bath such as this. She remembered she had taken one the night before the city was attacked all those years ago. But since then, she was lucky if the water was lukewarm. She had gotten used to the cold water of the lakes, ponds, and streams she came across as she traveled through the depths of the mountain range.
Sometimes she was even attacked by monsters while bathing. There was even one time when Ar'en suddenly showed up just as she got out, and he saw her everything. That time though, she sent him off with a crisp slap to the face.
But the times were not always bad. She met many cute monsters who befriended her. She used to feed them every now and then. But she was always on the move, so those small little friendships never lasted more than a week.
But to sit back and relax like this after so many years of traveling around was very pleasing. Trez saw Kana smiling as she closed her eyes and smiled along with her. She felt her highness had a special kind of aura around her that made one like her. But at the same time, she seemed lonely. Just in the past hour, she had seen a few expressions that made it seem like she had no one to ever rely on.
"Your Highness's hair is very pretty. I wish I had hair like this." Trez said as she gently ran her fingers through Kana's hair.
"I would rather have your hair. At least then, just maybe I wouldn't be a cursed being..." Kana's mood quickly turned gloomy. She sometimes wished she could switch bodies and get rid of this disgusting hair and eyes that causes nothing but pain for those around her.
Trez pursed her lips as she said: "Your Highness is not a cursed being. I have heard of many of your great deeds from His Highness. And I know myself that you are a very kind and caring person. I am a very good judge of character. I do not know what has happened in your past to say such things, but I know you are someone very kind hearted."
"I wish kindness could bring back all of those who have died because of me..." Kana lowered her head, trying to push back the tears that were threatening to fall but was stunned when she felt a set of arms embrace her from behind.
"Your Highness, if I may be so bold to say that as someone who has grown up as a servant and has interacted with many people, you are by no means more cursed than half of those people." Trez hugged Kana a little longer before letting go and apologizing. "Excuse me for my actions just now. It just looked like you needed a hug."
"It's fine. Thank you..." That hug did help her quell her gloomy mood. She had to hand it to Trez. She was indeed an amazing maid. Kana decided to talk to Ar'en to give Trez some kind of reward. After a long hot bath, Kana got changed and rested for a bit when Ar'en came knocking. "Kana, come I will give you a tour of your new home."
