Chapter 427: The Past That Started It All Part 5
Angelica put the book down and wiped her eyes. So far, the story of this girl was so sad and pitiful she did not understand why someone's life could have so much pain. Looking at her own life that was filled with smiles and laughter, Angelica knew that she was extremely lucky to have such a loving and caring family. But some of the things within this story had really stood out to her. She had a feeling there was much more to this story. She kept making a connection to a certain someone.
Creige appeared behind Angelica and smiled as he put his hand on top of her head. Angelica's lip quivered as she asked: "Handsome Papa, is this mama?" She did not know why she felt this way, but she felt this girl in this book reminded her of her mama in many ways.
"Mmm… This is the story of your mother and I during our past lives. I wanted you to know your origins, where your blood came from, and also… What your mother and I endured in those times. Whether you tell your mother about this after you read through this, I will leave up to you. I will not tell you not to. The only reason I have not done so myself, is to keep your mother from remembering sad and painful events. I will wait until she starts to remember things from the past on her own. But this is just me. Your choice on what you do will be up to you. You should continue reading. Learn how cruel and how good the world can be." Creige leaned down and kissed the top of Angelica's head before disappearing.
Angelica sat in the chair, staring at the book. After sitting for a few minutes lost in thought, Angelica picked the book back up again and began reading once more….
After Kana finished burying the dead, more survivors were found. In total, one hundred people survived the attack. Ar'en stayed at my Kana's the entire time. She seemed to have lost her soul completely. He had heard from the people who lived in this city that Kana was once lively and smiled all the time. She was always there to help others and even made the surrounding area safe for kids to play in. The city that lay at the edges of the demon's domain had become a paradise. There was nothing praise for the girl who came out of nowhere and settled down in this town.
As the two stood side by side, looking out over the thousands of graves, each one meticulously dug by hand, Ar'en could feel the sadness in the air. He knew war only brought death and sadness and hoped one day he could unite the entire sea of stars so that no one would ever suffer from such a thing like war again. But to do this would only cause more sadness as it would mean going to war. Uniting the world to stop war was a hypocritical concept. On the one hand, it might be good for the world to be under the control of one but then on the other, to reach that point, many would need to die as countries rulers would never allow for such a thing to happen.
War would break out, and millions would suffer because of it. History has shown this time and time again. Ar'en wished for a way to bring all countries together in order to make one united front, but this was also wishful thinking. People's hearts were filled with greed. Not everyone thought as Ar'en did. He just wanted peace and happiness for his people. But today proved that even if the demons did not attack the side of light, they would still be targeted.
Ar'en clenched his fist and looked down at the girl who was a few heads shorter than him and asked: "What are your plans now?"
"To grow stronger so I can end scenes like this. I will grow so strong that no one will dare oppose me. Only then will I be able to stop all this hatred and sadness. Only then will I be able to avenge my family and friends. Only then, when my hands are stained in the blood of others, can I die and rejoin the loved ones I have lost." After saying these words, Kana flew up into the sky and headed deeper into the demon's domain.
Ar'en was stunned by Kana's words and failed to react in time. By the time he reached out to pull Kana back, she had already flown far away. Although he could easily catch up to her, he did not. He had to finish things up here. He had to make sure the people who died here were honored, and a statue of their savior needed to be built. He decided this place will be a reminder to him. A reminder of how evil this world can be and a reminder of the girl who shook his heart with her selfless deeds.
Kana had no idea she had sprouted the seed of love in Ar'en's heart. She was too focused on ways to get stronger than anything else. After flying a distance away, Kana turned and looked back at the city that was now as small as an ant. She made a silent pledge in her heart to avenge the deaths of those who had died unjustly. She would become strong enough to wipe out all the evils of this world.
Rural Kingdom throne room…
"These are them?" Sei asked. She was standing on the left of Tilia, who had finally come to after many days of being unconscious. Yuthia was standing on Tilia's right while Nergal and Ceilie were standing in the front. Many lich elite guards were also present as they surrounded Tilia on all sides.
A Lich guard bowed his head and said: "Yes, these are the high ranking nobles who were helping fund the underground movement. We went door to door, and anyone involved was arrested and sent to the dungeons. As of now, we have over ten thousand people under arrest. We did not care if they were only a minor offender in helping the rebel movement. We arrested anyone who we found evidence against as per your command."
One of the high ranking nobles looked past the guards at the paled faced Tilia and yelled out: "This is unjust! Your highness you have committed treason by having these undead scourges occupy our glorious kingdom!"
