Chapter 192: Trial Of Survival Part Ten
[AN: Bonus Chapter 7/7]
Kana frowned when she felt something blocking her claws from going any further. A glint of blue light surrounded Commander Branson. He looked at kana and sneered as he raised his weapon: "Let's see you block this from close range!"
*Bang!*
"Kana!" Mary yelled out. Her face was filled with horror when she saw Commander Branson pull the trigger at such a close range.
A beam of light slammed into Kana, knocking her back, causing her to slam into the side wall. The wall crumbled under the collision falling on top of Kana. Seeing how easily he defeated Kana, Commander Branson let out a cold laugh. "It seems she was nothing much. Kill the other two and clean up the mess." He ordered as he secretly wiped the sweat from his brow. If not for his shield just now, he would have lost his head. Internally he was thanking the gods that his people were able to make such technology.
But the smug look he had on his face as if he had been triumphant over a boss monster did not last long when he heard a coughing sound come from the collapsed wall. "Ouch! That stung!" Kana crawled up from the rubble and shook her body. The spot where she was shot was completely fine. There was not even a mark left behind. She looked over at Commander Branson and smiled. "It seems your weapons can't even hurt me. Although they do sting, but it is nothing more than that. Now then, where was I? Ah right…. I was taking your head."
Commander Branson began to panic when he saw Kana charge right for him again. "Kill her! Everyone, concentrate on killing the damn lizard!"
"I am not a lizard! I am a dragon!" Kana yelled as she sprang in the air doing a spin as she used [Tail Whip] to knock a few people right into Aoi's incoming water blades. In a matter of minutes, the only one left was Commander Branson. "So there, Commander, what will you do now?"
Commander Branson looked at all his dead soldiers and knew he was utterly defeated. "Just go! That is what you want, right? Then go. I know when to submit."
"Humph!" Kana sneered as she motioned with her head for both Aoi and Mary to go to the exit. Kana took up the rear keeping a sharp eye on the commander. She did not know what tricks this man might have still up his sleeve.
Mary and Aoi opened the door and exited. Aoi made sure to check the surroundings and found nothing odd, so she and Mary walked outside. Kana reached the door and looked back at Commander Branson and gave him a big smile as she said: "By the way, for those who try to kill me, I do not like allowing them to live, so here is a present from me. [Fire Pillar], [Dragon Breath]!"
Kana fired off two spells in succession, causing the whole hall to turn into a furnace as large pillars of flames along with her [Dragon Breath] filled the hall. Kana knew that the barrier that Commander Branson had would most likely block the attack, but that did not mean he would not feel the heat. Sure enough, pitiful screams of agony came from the hall as Commander Branson, who was shielded by his barrier, began to literally come meat roasting on the open fire. His current state was not something anyone could bear. But Kana did not stop until the painful screams died down until there was no sound at all. Only then did Kana release her magic and led both Mary and Aoi away.
This was a true experience for Kana. She now understood what it meant that all sides were scheming. It did not matter if you were human, beastkin, or insectoid, there will always be someone who had ill intentions. But this also firmed up her resolve in hopes of uniting the continent she lived on in hopes for a better future.
"Mary, where can I find large groups of monsters?" Kana asked right after transforming back into her humanoid form. She needed a destination to head to instead of roaming around aimlessly.
"Probably the Dronic Dungeon in the east would be your best bet..." Mary replied.
"Dronic Dungeon? What is that?" Kana's interest was piqued.
Mary was about to answer, but before she did, she asked: "Kana, are you not from this world?"
"Nope. I am from a different place altogether. Maybe this is why I am unaffected by whatever virus you have here." Kana replied. She then asked: "About the dungeon..."
"Ahh, yes, sorry, I was just trying to confirm my assumptions. This world has many dungeons. In the past, there was a thing called an adventuring guild. People used to take on requests and head out to these dungeons to farm resources and find items that they could use to make themselves stronger. From the ancient text that I have read, dungeons would have all kinds of mystical items in them. This was all before my race became sentient. I do not know much about the past since what I have read is only what is made public. But these dungeons are said to be packed full of monsters." Mary explained.
"Then we will head there. If you wish to come, you can. But I can not guarantee your safety." Kana did not mind having Mary along, but she also did not know if she could protect Mary since her life would need to come first.
"It's fine. As of now, I am free, but I am also a traitor to the Jokasins Empire. This means I have no home. I can only wander around and look for a new place to stay or wait for my death." Mary replied, her expression showing a bit of sadness.
"Well… If we survive until I am finished with what I came here to do, then I will see if I can bring you back with me. Although you may be put under quarantine until they know that you hold nothing that can harm the world I come from. But don't worry, you will not be treated badly." Kana said with a smile.
"Although I have only just met you, Kana, I trust you more than anyone from my own race." Mary smiled bitterly. To her, it was a sad thing to know her own people were worse than a stranger she had just met.
