Chapter 304: Blood Will Rain Down
Creige did just that. He gently and carefully picked Kana up and carried her to the bath area, and washed her from head to toe. He then gently dried her hair and brushed it for her before putting a long white shirt on her to cover her body. Only then did he bring her to the bedroom and lay her gently on the bed. He then got into bed with her and pulled her into his embrace. His worry would not subside with Old Sir's words alone. Until she woke up, he could not stop the worry in his heart. But even if the two of them were to turn old and grey as she lay here asleep, he would not leave her side. He would keep watch over her and take care of her every day until they both took their final breath. This was the devotion demons had for their partners. They lived life and death together.
"Ahh! So early..." Kana rubbed her tired eyes and sluggishly got out of bed. No one had called to wake them up yet, but Kana planned to get an early start and begin working out this weak body. With no care for the two sleeping across from her, Kana turned on the brightest light there was and dug out a clean set of black clothes before putting them on. As she walked out of the room, she slammed the door behind her. The two girls who had long been awake pretended to sleep the entire time, not wanting to anger the little demon in human skin.
"Is she gone?"
"Mmm… She is… Why is she up at four am!?" One of the girls looked at the clock and wanted to cry. So much noise at four in the morning! She even acted as if the two of them did not exist. In truth, Kana did notice them, she just didn't care, and as for the door slamming, this was out of habit since she would normally catch it with her tail, keeping it from slamming too hard.
Kana went outside and looked up at the stars sparklingly in the night sky overhead. She let out a breath of air that caused a stream of steam to escape her mouth. "The morning is crisp and feels nice! Perfect time for a run!"
Kana did a few stretches before starting her job. Today she planned to get a better understanding of the facility. She jogged past her favorite place, the cafeteria, and continued on a long path towards the other section of buildings. With trees scattered here and there, there were seven buildings total. The girls' dorms, the school, and the cafeteria were on the west side of the facility. To the east, the other buildings were the instructor quarters and some other unnamed buildings. They showed on the map of the place but did not say what they were. But one of them was almost four stories tall.
After a run, she did some simple workout maneuvers, situps, pushups, and squats. She did two sets of fifty each. This was all she could do at this time, with how weak her body was. And even then, it was a struggle. After a five minute break, she began doing some shadow boxing and sword practice with a stick she found. It was not the most ideal training, but it was better than nothing.
Off to the side, Instructor Shelly watched Kana's refined moves in amazement. A glint filled her eyes, and she quickly came to a decision. She turned and left to let Kana do her thing. She walked right over to the main building, where the one in charge of the facility sat behind a desk drinking her morning coffee. She was an older woman in her late sixties. Her right eye had a deep scar running across it. You could tell she had been very battle hardened.
"Senior Miyu..." Instructor Shelly knocked on the door and opened it slowly.
"Oh? Shelly, why are you here? It is quite early, is it not?" Senior Miyu asked.
Instructor Shelly stood at attention as she stood in front of senior Miyu. "Senior Miyu, I wish to do special training with Number Seven. She has just arrived, but I do not think she should go through the normal training. I think she should go through elite training! That girl has more talent than anyone I have ever met, you included, Senior Miyu."
One thing Instructor Shelly was sure of was being honest and blunt with this elder was the only way she would take you seriously. This was why she did not mince words that might seem rude. Senior Miyu looked at Instructor Shelly and pondered for a moment before looking at the small screen in front of her. On it was a young girl practicing martial arts, a form she had never seen before. "You had the same idea I did. Just one look at this girl's movements tells me a thousand words. And they all say she is someone who has a long story to tell. Why she is the way, she is I do not know, but this girl's demeanor does not match up to her age nor the skillful way she handles herself. The moments she is doing are not something you could manage to learn in a few short years. It's almost like she was not from this world at all.
"I also saw what had happened yesterday. Although I do not agree with your method of testing a new recruit that could potentially pass the final test, it was good that you did. Just her actions alone were enough to tell me she is not new at killing. Every moment was as if it was done on instinct. If she had a blade in her hand, your hand might have been cut off. I will call someone else in to train the other girls. A bus will be here by mid day to send you to the special facility deeper in the mountain. If she dies, she dies her life is up to her." The old woman smiled as another thought came to mind.
"I will have the girls who have recently passed the test to take on jobs join you. They are to try to kill this girl day and night. If one of them is able to do so, give them one million cash as a reward." Senior Miyu would not order such an extreme training if Kana was not so abnormal. Little did she know that the most horrific sight she had ever seen would be imprinted into her memory for years to come, was about to happen. She had no idea that blood was about to rain down from the skies.
