Chapter 679 - Slap You Silly
"I…"
*Slap!*
"Oh, sorry, were you going to say something just now?" Kana looked at the young man who had a big hand print on the side of his face with a smug smile.
The young man looked back at Kana in disbelief. She could have at least let him answer! He was about to try to apologize again before Kana interrupted him once more: "So… They said I should slap you. Should I?"
The young man was crying inside. 'You already slapped me! What do you mean should I!?' The girls at the side were all giggling away. Each one was giving Kana a thumbs up. It was true that even if they did not know each other personally, there were certain things that they would always unite on, even if they were enemies. And this young man in front of Kana, who was sitting on his butt staring at her in disbelief, was one of which that had caused this unity.
Gritting his teeth, the young man opened his mouth only to feel a sharp stinging pain on his face once more.
*Slap!*
"You! Can't you at least wait for people to answer!?" The young man finally yelled out. He couldn't take being slapped over and over like this. It was pure humiliation!
"What!? What did you say?" Kana asked as her hand came down once more before her other hand slapped the other side of the young man's face while his head was in mid turn. "It's hard to hear you when there is a loud slapping sound coming from your face. Maybe if you turned it down, I could understand what you are saying."
By this time, the young man was seeing stars. He could not even comprehend what was happening anymore. Kana had literally slapped him silly. After raining down a few more slaps until the young man's face was swollen to the point that his own mother would not recognize him, did Kana finally stop. She dusted off her hands and walked back into line.
A minute later, a few city guards came running over. "What is going on over here?"
"Sir, that creature tried to attack us, so I subdued it," Kana answered with a blatant lie. She had a wronged expression on her face while pointing at the young man on the ground who was lying face up. His face was so bruised and swollen that he did, in fact, look like a creature of some kind.
The guard looked at Kana and then the young man. His lips twitched. He had already seen what had happened but he did not say anything. He looked at the others in line, and they all turned away as if they had nothing to do with it. Since no one else was willing to speak up, the guard said nothing before motioning with his hand to one of the other guards behind him. "Drag this thing away from the entrance. The academy is doing their tests today, and we do not need things like this lying around scaring off potential new disciples."
Kana heard the guard's words and found them to be interesting. It seemed that the guards worked for the academy. She could only guess they were hired just for today. While she was lost in thought, the lead guard turned and looked at her and the others. "Do not cause any more trouble, or you will not be allowed in the city."
After glaring at the hopeful disciples, he turned and walked away. When he did, a young girl around fifteen poked Kana in her side. "Hey, what you did just now was very funny."
"Who told that person to be so rude. Just because I dress this way doesn't mean I will sell myself. I happen to like what I am wearing as it is very easy to move in." Kana replied. She was still a tad angry. "He's lucky I didn't just kill him."
"What!? You killed people before?" The young girl asked in shock. She knew people in the cultivation world abided by the law of strength is right, but she saw how young Kana looked and never thought that such a young girl would have killed someone already. But this was something that most could understand as these new hopeful disciples all came from their families where they were treated as rising stars. Some of them may have killed, but most were never allowed to see the cruelty of the world.
"Hmmm? Isn't killing normal?" Kana was confused. This world was built upon the deaths of millions of cultivators. But when she thought more deeply about it, she realized all these kids were just that, kids.
"Kana!" A voice came from the gate area, and two figures came rushing over.
"Oh! Nana! Little Ling!" Kana smiled and waved. The two figures quickly arrived. The girl who was just speaking to Kana quickly lowered her head. She saw that the two girls who came over were wearing Moon Crest Academy robes and dared not look at them afraid she would anger them.
"Thank the heavens you made it!" Liu Na and Mei Ling both hugged Kana.
Kana hugged them back before pushing the two back and poking Mei Ling on the forehead. "How come you're not as strong as the sect master?"
"Kana, that's not fair! Don't bully me!" Mei Ling pouted. She had not even had a chance to break through to the next stage of qi gathering yet! She was still at the fourth stage.
"Okay, okay, I won't tease you anymore. But are you sure it is safe for you to be outside?" Kana asked.
"Yes, Lord Yong is watching from afar. He allowed us to come see you. He had sensed your presence a while ago." Liu Na answered. "It's good you were able to break through to qi gathering. To think you were able to go from zero cultivation to qi gathering in less than a year. It makes me feel like my achievements are bad. But Kana… Your clothes…"
"What do you think? Not bad, right? I forged them myself." Kana replied with a smile full of pride. She was truly proud of her forging skills.
"But they are so revea… Wait, did you just say you forged them!?"
