Chapter 637: Trapped! Part 2
--AN: Merry Xmas!--
Ako carried the still unconscious Kana into what was left of the spirit spring and gently put her down before quickly climbing out, worried that she might reduce the speed of Kana's healing. She frowned, looking at Kana's tattered robes, and wished that she had something for her to wear but being a slime, she had nothing. She could only fix the robes so that they would not expose any of Kana's important bits. While it was not the best job in the world, Ako could tell that for now, at least, Kana would not need to worry about anything being exposed.
After that, Ako went to work cleaning the dirt off Kana's exposed skin. When she was finished, she tidied up Kana's hair before smiling in satisfaction. She then began using her own spiritual qi to circulate the spiritual qi from the spring into Kana to help heal all her internal injuries. "Master was so heavily injured! I should have killed that stupid snake!"
After finally taking a look at Kana's internal injuries, Ako was surprised that Kana was able to fight for so long. She could only guess that Kana was fighting with nothing but her will to grow stronger. Otherwise, for a cultivator of her level, such wounds would have caused her to collapse long ago.
As time ticked by, the external wounds on Kana's body all healed up. There were just the internal injuries that would still need some time to heal. Kana still showed no sign of coming to either, causing Ako to really worry.
Inside Kana's mind, she was having a dream. It was when she had just reached the realm of gods and met up with her babies and handsome husband again. She remembered the happy days she spent playing with her daughters and the alone time she spent with Creige. She missed them all so much that she wished she could see them once more. Her family was her reason to keep going. The reason she would sustain so many injuries. She had to grow stronger so no one could ever split them apart ever again. She missed so much of their lives, and she hated that. She knew she was not the best of mothers, she was not always there for her babies. But she wished more than anything for them to always be happy.
Tears trickled down Kana's cheeks startling Ako, who was keeping watch over Kana. Ako reached over and gently wiped Kana's tears. She did not know why her master was crying but seeing her cry made her feel sad as well. Her amazing master was such a kind soul. She wished nothing more than to protect her, but she knew if she protected her too much that Kana would never advance. She could only try to assist Kana on her journey of cultivation as best as she could.
Time passed in a blink of an eye, and five days had passed. It was on this fifth day that the spirit spring was completely gone, and Kana was only steps away from reaching rank six body fortification. If things kept going as they were by the time the sects entrance exam came around, Kana would have already reached the qi gathering stage and probably be almost in the qi condensation stage.
Such a thing would not be possible if not for Kana being allowed to enter the dreaded grounds. The spiritual qi here was much denser than outside, and the dangers and rewards in this place were enough to harden and forge any cultivator who was able to stay alive, allowing their cultivation to jump by leaps and bounds.
Kana's eyes fluttered lightly as she slowly opened them. Her head was foggy as she looked around. But when she saw Ako, she remembered what had happened. "How long have I been out?"
"Master!" Ako ignored Kana's question and pounced on Kana, hugging her tightly.
Kana smiled and patted Ako's back. She could tell Ako was very worried about her. "It's good that you are awake. You have been out for almost a week." The little caterpillar took the liberty of explaining things.
"I see… where are we now?" Kana asked.
"We…." Ako pulled back from Kana's embrace and lowered her head. "Master, I have doomed us all… I was so worried about getting you healed that I walked into a trap. We are currently inside a mimic's mouth. This spirit spring that healed you was a lure to get us to come into the cave. The only exit is not closed off, and we are stuck here…"
Kana frowned slightly but did not blame Ako. She knew Ako was just trying to heal her. She reached up and patted Ako's head before saying: "It's fine. It's just a mimic, right? Since it's alive, we can kill it. I kinda wonder what mimic tastes like."
As for said mimic, it could hear everything inside its mouth and couldn't help but shiver at Kana's words. It wondered why the crazy cultivator in its mouth could stay so calm and even wanted to eat it! It was supposed to be doing the eating, not the other way around!
"I am not sure I have never tasted a mimic either." Ako was starting to get curious.
"Well, we can only try it and see. But is this cave actually part of the mimic or is it something it had already swallowed to lure people in?" Kana was confused as to whether the cave was actually made of stone.
"As far as I can tell, it is a cave swallowed by the mimic for this purpose. My guess is that the mimic sensed the spirit spring and got the idea of setting up this kind of trap." The caterpillar answered. Hearing this explanation, Kana nodded.
Now knowing this, Kana walked over to the walls and began banging on them. "Master, what are you doing?" Ako asked in confusion.
"Trying to find a weak point so we can break it down then we dig a hole in whatever flesh we find to make our escape."
