Chapter 322: Disgusting Monster
Instructor Shelly looked through the scope, her eyes wide. "What the hell? I am sure I hit just now!" She checked the scope carefully. Then she checked the angle and distance. She even licked her finger and held it in the air to test the wind. "Everything is perfect! Maybe it veered off course somehow..."
Instructor Shelly shook her head and rotated her shoulders as she once again positioned herself. She took a bit longer this time to line things up. After making sure she was on target, she pulled the trigger once again. With a booming sound, the bullet left the barrel of the rifle and sped forth towards its target.
Kana was back munching away on her food when she suddenly felt another sting on the back of her head, causing her to slap her head and yell out: "What the hell!"
"My dear Granddaughter, what is wrong?" Old Fan asked, his voice full of concern.
"There is some kind of bug that keeps biting me!" Kana complained. She bit her lower lip as she pouted and rubbed the back of her head.
"Shall we move?" Old Fan asked.
"No, it's fine. I just know to make sure to keep an eye out for a big bug." Kana said before going back to eating.
Instructor Shelly was once again stunned. She had no idea what was going on. She had made sure everything was right. "What the hell! Is there some kind of barrier between here and there!? Maybe I should get closer..."
With no choice since two shots seemed to miss their target, Instructor Shelly got up and gathered her things to reposition herself. An hour later, she was sitting on top of a tall tree covered by leaves. Her hair was all over the place, and there were a few wounds on her body. Her black clothes also showed a bit of the white flesh that was hidden underneath. She had run into quite a few monsters on the way to this new location. She did not understand it. She had been watching Seven for so many days now, and not once besides the birds did she run into other monsters. But here she was traveling a small distance and was already attacked by many monsters. The strange thing was that this area seemed to have an overpopulation of monsters, almost as if they were forced to migrate over to this small section of the forest.
This was understandable because even though Lizzy had moved from his cave to stay with Kana, his scent was still strong, so the other monsters stayed far, far away from that section of the forest, then there was Kana. Her aura was even stronger than Lizzy's, so monsters stayed even further away, making her area pretty peaceful except for the never ending birds, who seem to be fearless.
Instructor Shelly did all her checks and looked down the scope, and lined up her crosshairs. "Let's see if you still don't die from this!"
Three shots rang off one after the other. Instructor Shelly had aimed two at Kana's head and one right at her heart. The bullets once again flew through the air, ripping past leaves and branches not slowing in the slightest. They kept going until…
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Damn it! Let me eat you stupid bug!" Kana roared.
Old Fan's ear twitched and looked at Kana, then looked in a certain direction. Not many would be able to tell what had just happened, but he knew. Now that the sound was a bit closer, he could tell the make and model of the weapon. He also had already spotted the shiny metallic objects that were on the ground. He did not say anything since Kana thought they were bugs. The reason he did not say anything to start with, because he already knew nothing could harm this girl. At least not small weapons. He was not sure about bigger artillery.
As for Instructor Shelly, her anger was about to explode! She had shot three times and watched each bullet hit its target! But still, the damn girl was alive. "How! How is she still not dead!? Fine, since I can not kill her from this range, I would like to see what happens when I shoot her from point blank!"
And so Instructor Shelly once again packed her things up and made her way through the forest. But not even five minutes passed before she was attacked by monsters. Fight after fight, she marched forward. Her determination to kill Kana, her only driving force. Until finally, she could see Kana, now more than a few meters away, happily eating some food next to an old man she did not recognize. She went prone once more and moved to the bush right at the tree line. She carefully separated the leaves to get a view and placed her rifle down.
After adjusting her scope and making sure everything was all set, she aimed and fired. "Ouch! That one got me good! Grandpa, we should move. Every time I get bit, those damn bugs keep making loud sounds in the process. The worst part is I can't even see them! Maybe we are sitting under a nest. This is why I hate forests!"
All Kana did was complain about this and that while Instructor Shelly looked on with her jaw touching the ground. After all of this, she still was unable to kill the girl. In her anger and frustration Instructor Shelly stood up and yelled: "Seven, why the fuck won't you just die!?"
Both Kana and Old Fan turned to look at the girl who was now in what can no longer be called clothes. It was so battered up and ruined from all her battles even her private bits were on full display. Her hair was a complete mess, with twigs and leaves sticking out of it. Her entire body was covered in blood and dirt, and from her expression, she looked like a lunatic who had just come out of an insane asylum.
As she stood there seething in anger a helicopter suddenly flew overhead and a young man jumped down. He looked over at the thing that did not look human and frowned. "When did this place have such a disgusting monster?"
