Chapter 517: Trusting The Wrong Person Part 1
As Kana said these words, her whole body began to relax. The pulsation of the energy exuding out of her also began to slow down until it finally dispersed altogether. Sweat dripped from her hair as she slowly pulled herself up from the ground. She began absorbing the memories that entered her mind. She felt that this person was her yet not. It was not the her of now. "I see… So that was the me of before, but what about now? I do not think in this life I originated on this world either. Whatever the answer is, I have at least learned one thing about myself. I have full control of the element of death… Now then, what to do about this place..."
Kana now had full knowledge of how this palace worked. She walked over to one of the walls and placed her hand on the wall causing a panel to appear. It showed a small monitor and a keypad. Kana worked the keypad as if she had done it a million times before. After pressing a few buttons and then tapping the screen a few times, the entire complex began to shake as all the lights and machines within the dome began to turn on. With a few more buttons pressed, a door opened at her side. Kana smiled and walked into what looked to be a closet. She turned around and faced the wall behind her and tapped a few more buttons to the side of the door.
A clunking sound was heard from above as if something had just engaged. The room shook slightly before a noise was heard as if the room itself was moving. Kana was calm the entire time. She knew this was all normal as this was just a lift to the other floors.
After about a minute, the wall in front of her opened again, revealing a well lit hallway. Kana stepped out and stretched her arms. "It has been a long time. Eve, time to wake up. I know you're working fine. I have already checked your status."
"..."
"Eve, if you do not wake up, I will rip out your core and replace you with something else. Maybe a pile of shit from some monster someplace." Kana said in all seriousness as she walked down the hall to a door that slid open as soon as she stood in front of it.
"Humph! Do you realize how many years it has been since you died? And now you are just coming back. If it wasn't for the fact that you registered part of your soul with my database, I would not have even have let you in, to begin with!" A voice filled the air, but there did not seem to be anyone around speaking, almost as if it was coming out of a void somewhere.
"Out of all the A.I. I wrote thus far you were the smartest and most loyal. It was that other one..." Kana scratched her head. In her past life, the her of then had created the first all sentient A.I. Two versions called: Adam and Eve. The Adam version was what caused the collapse of her old world. She was the cause of billions of deaths. Eve was her other creation which had a sense of loyalty to the one who created her. But Adam. While he did not kill Kana, he would not listen to her. Eve and Adam also fought, but because they were so evenly matched they were drawn into a stalemate. It was then that Adam began releasing all kinds of chemical based weapons making the world uninhabitable by living things.
"Adam… He… He just wanted you to live in a world free of the miseries and pain. After the treatment, you received that day, how they did those things to you, Adam he..." Eve tried to defend Adam.
"I know..." Kana's brow furrowed. She did not wish to remember any of that. But it was now all part of the memories she gained. Eve even proved that these new memories were indeed her own. Not wanting to think about it anymore, Kana changed the subject. "How much power is left in the core?"
"There is half power left, enough to make a single jump to any place you want. But after that, you would need to find a new power source to use the jump drive again." Eve replied.
"It's fine. There is something I wish to try first. The current me is different from the previous me that you know, Eve. I am sure you already know this, though, since you have been scanning me this entire time." Kana said as she sat down in a chair in front of a long console with many buttons on it.
"Yes, I do know you are not the same. I also have detected there is a strange barrier surrounding part of your hippocampus blocking some of your memories from being accessed. Although it does seem to be weakening." Eve reported.
"Hmm… Are you able to tap into it? Or at least scan it so I can see if I can write a program to break into it." Kana was hoping for a yes on this because it would allow her to regain the memories she had lost.
"As of now, I can scan it, but it may take a while before I can come up with a result. Since my creation, I have never seen such a thing before. And I have analyzed almost everything on Pholsis, our old planet, as well as what I could around the area here." Eve and Adam were Kana's life's work. Although she died really young, she had started working on them from a young age and slowly got them to where they are today. Sadly she does not know what happened to Adam.
"Alright, take your time and see if you can even weaken it a bit to allow me to at least regain a part of my memory." Kana did not care how long it took as long as she could at least remember something. The feeling of wanting to know but unable to was leaving her with an empty feeling inside.
"I will work as fast as I can." Eve did not understand Kana's feelings right now, but she did understand that Kana really needed to know who she was.
"Alright, I will be heading out for a bit. It's good the ship is in a place where not many can come. I want to test a few things." Kana decided she wanted to try what she had thought about earlier. She had no idea if it would work, but she figured it would be at least worth a try. She grabbed an object off the table next to her before heading over to a small pad off to the side of the control room she was in and stood on top of it. "Eve, transport me outside the ship."
"As you wish." Eve activated the pad Kana was on, and her body began to break apart into small glowing cubes before disappearing.
On the outside of the ship, Kana stood, took the object she held in her hand, and fastened it to her wrist. She held it up to her mouth and asked: "Eve can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear." Eve's voice was heard coming from the bracelet on Kana's wrist.
"Alright, good, I will be testing a few things out then." Kana did not move from where she stood. Instead, she closed her eyes, trying to imagine what she wanted to accomplish. As she did, her body began to shimmer with a bluish light before suddenly disappearing from where she stood and reappearing a few meters away. "Alright, not bad now what about this..."
Kana once again began to concentrate, and her body disappeared again. This time she did not appear in the vicinity around the ship but actually back in the control room of the ship. "Not bad I can now teleport to anywhere I have a good image of. Eve, I will be testing my limits on this, so I will be back soon. I can also test the distance on the communicator as well. Also, run a DNA test on me. Find out what kind of monster I am."
"As you wish," Eve answered. A robotic arm came down from the ceiling that had a long needle on it and stabbed it into Kana's arm.
Once Kana, had her blood drawn, she once again disappeared. This time she was trying for a longer teleport. And just as she was hopping, Kana appeared in the city of Fandel. This was no big deal if not for the fact that she appeared in the center of the city in a busy district and was currently standing on top of a rather fat man with fancy clothes on. "Prince!! How dare you attack our country's Prince!!"
"Prince?" Kana Looked down under her feet to see a fat pig and frowned. The Prince they spoke of seemed to be at least twenty of her round and was greasy from head to toe. She could feel the stickiness on her feet making her feel disgusted. "Now I need to wash my feet..."
