Hundreds of attacking arrays were deployed. They emitted bursts of violent energy that felled anything
in its path.
In one sweep, a large number of ice wolves were killed.
At the same time, the walls made of the eight types of sacred fire launched an attack in the same
direction where a large amount of ice wolves had been killed just now.
Austin propelled himself in the same direction as well, activating the Illusion Skill of Reincarnation.
The joint attacks made short work of the ice wolves in the area. It only took a moment to decimate a
vast number of them.
Austin continued deploying the Illusion Skill of Reincarnation, leaving shadows in his wake as he flitted
from one spot to another with unbelievable speed.
But just then,
something unexpected happened.
The five wolf kings who had been staring at Austin from a distance suddenly started howling in unison.
The air trembled as the sound reverberated all throughout the space.
As soon as the howling died out, the five wolf kings darted out as one, heading straight for Austin.
As they did, the other ice wolves moved to surround him, too.
These ice wolves did not fear death. They wouldn't back down from a fight.
Fighting only made them feel more alive!
Austin slit his eyes at them, the dread beginning to take over him.
"Get out of my way!" he growled at them.
Austin reactivated the arrays, the sacred fire, and his mind power.
A large number of arrays emerged, shielding him from the ice wolves in front of him.
Then he deployed the Illusion Skill of Reincarnation, planning to ambush and then outrun the ice
wolves outside the arrays.
However, there were far too many of them. Those Austin were able to kill along the way piled up like
small mountains.
Yet, there were still a large number of ice wolves up ahead.
They came in waves, as seemingly endless as a black ocean.
The ice wolves continued to approach in droves from all directions.
"These guys really won't give up without a fight!"
Austin snorted. He had to hand it to them. They were tenacious.
Austin could sense that the five wolf kings were also getting closer and closer.
Austin was left with no choice. He had to give it his all.
He unleashed all kinds of secret methods and skills he had learned.
It worked! Finally, the number of ice wolves surrounding Austin appeared to dwindle.
Austin felt a glimmer of hope. He was certain he would be out of this bind soon!
He kept his eyes in the direction with the least amount of ice wolves left.
He fought off wave after wave of ice wolves as he approached that direction.
He made it there soon enough.
As soon as he reached a clearing, he activated the Illusion Skill of Reincarnation to the extreme.
But before he could speed off, five beams of black lightning caught up behind him.
The five wolf kings were much stronger than the other ice wolves.
Austin could sense that even ordinary gods of chaos might prove no match for them.
A large number of ferocious ice wolves continued to surge in like a rolling black sea, directly at the
heels of the five wolf kings.
The plateau shook at their sheer number.
Just as Austin felt all hope was lost,
a voice sounded in his head.
"Master, have you encountered the ice wolves?"
It was the voice of one of Austin's puppets.
It was one among a hundred Nasir had given to Austin. These puppets all had the strength of a god of
chaos and had the sentience to match.
"Yes. I am surrounded by them right now,"
Austin hissed desperately, gritting his teeth.
"Then let me out, master. I know how to subdue them with just one move,"
the puppet said.
"Really? That's possible?"
Austin raised his brow at the puppet's claim.
"Yes, master.
It will please you to know our former master had already been able to subdue them before.
This means they will surrender immediately if I just take out his token,"
the puppet informed Austin.
"That's all? That's great, then!
Quickly, come out at once!"
Austin ordered with urgency.
The puppet wasted no time and materialized in front of him.
As soon as it appeared, it immediately turned and gave a curt nod to the five wolf kings behind Austin.
Austin felt tense and unsure.
The five wolf kings were not to be trifled with. Could this civil approach really appease their bloodlust?
To Austin's surprise, the five wolf kings did appear to back down from their attack positions. They
looked at the puppet uncertainly, as if trying to place where they had seen it before.
'They really do seem familiar with the puppet!'
Austin thought to himself, with some surprise.
The puppet waved its hand. A token flew out and floated in front of the five wolf kings.
It projected the figure of an old man in white robes.
It was none other than Nasir.
As soon as the five wolf kings saw the projection of Nasir, their eyes widened. They bowed low
deferentially, paying their respects.
The vast number of ice wolves followed suit, wave after wave of them stopping in their tracks and
bowing low.
"These ice wolves have indeed been subdued by Master Nasir!"
Austin exclaimed. He was utterly amazed.
"From now on, you must follow this man's orders. When you see him, treat him as you would treat me,"
Nasir's projection instructed the five wolf kings, motioning toward Austin.
The five wolf kings nodded obediently.
"Very well, then. Greet your new master,"
the figure of the old man urged.
The five wolf kings turned to Austin and bowed before him, as well. The rest of the ice wolves soon
followed suit.
Nasir's figure then turned around and smiled at Austin before turning into a wisp of smoke and flying
back into the token.
The projection had been formed by only a bare minimum of spiritual sense energy, and could thus not
be sustained for a long time.
When Austin looked back at the five wolf kings and the ice wolves, he noted they no longer sported
ferocious expressions. They now looked at him with respectful eyes.
The five wolf kings walked toward Austin.
"What can we do for you, master? Just ask, and it shall be done,"
they told him reverentially.
They were all as strong as the gods of chaos, and to be fair, they were much stronger than ordinary
ones.
It took Austin a moment to answer. He had to gather himself for a bit, caught unprepared with this
sudden change in dynamics.
"I don't need you to do anything for the time being.
Feel free to go on about your business in this plateau, as before.
I will inform you if I need your help in the future," he said sheepishly. The five wolf kings gave a curt
bow and went their way.
Austin had no intention of taking the ice wolves away from this plateau.
If Nasir, who had subdued them, saw fit to let them stay here, then who was Austin to change that?
After all, he could also see that this plateau was the most suitable environment for these ice wolves to
live and cultivate.
Austin couldn't think of a similar habitat he would be able to transfer them to.
For now, it was enough for Austin to know that should he need their assistance in the future, the ice
wolves were willing to rush to his side and lend him their aid.
