Under his gaze, the body heat generated from climbing the mountain which had subsided got the better of An Lan once again.
“Um… have you attended some courses lately? You could come out with such sweet words.” An Lan teased him.
“I’m telling the truth,” Xu Baohan replied softly.
“…”
Her scalp tingled hearing this.
Her chest was tickled as if there were ten thousand ants crawling around.
“Big brother, big sister, could you please step aside? We would like to take a photo,” a young lady holding her phone said politely to them.
Both of them then only realized that they had been standing at the cliff edge for quite some time now which had blocked others from taking photos.
“Sorry,” Xu Baohan immediately pulled An Lan aside.
From this small detail, An Lan instantly realized that their hands had been held together tightly. She bent her head to take a look. He clasped her hands just like an ordinary couple. His large palm wrapping around hers.
This form of intimacy made An Lan flushed and her heart raced.
When they were climbing the mountain, she did not feel anything when he held her tightly. However, it was weird that he still held her hand although she was not required to be helped now.
It was as though he had become her boyfriend.
An Lan couldn’t help staring at the man in front of her who was looking around. His nose bridge was as straight as the peak of a mountain. He looked radiant today and wasn’t as cold and somber as he was in court.
Did she have ill feelings towards him?
She used to dislike him, but this man was too outstanding in every respect. How one could dislike him once he became gentle.
At this moment, Xu Baohan’s gaze turned to her unexpectedly. An Lan was startled. She subconsciously raised her hand. “May I ask how long are you going to hold my hand?”
Xu Baohan remained calm. “Forever.”
An Lan’s heart palpitated “I remember that you used to wish me to remain single until the end of time.”
Xu Baohan smiled. “You were the one who had started to wish me to remain single until the end of time. That would be too remote. Therefore, I could only look for the person who had cast a spell on me to help me bidding farewell to my bachelorhood.”
An Lan was speechless, but she found it comical when she recalled that in the past, both of them used to cut each other’s throats.
Xu Baohan looked at their hands which were held together. His gaze deepened and he spoke softly, “An Lan, if it is possible, I would like to hold your hand for the rest of my life in the same way as what I did when we were climbing the mountain. I don’t understand why, but I feel that you’re the woman that I will cherish and be with together.”
After he finished speaking, he released her hand gently. An Lan listened to his words under his gaze. The moment her hand was released, she felt that her throat was being squeezed as though by an invisible force. It was a little bitter and throbbing.
Cherish and be with together…
It was not that she did not want to be with such a person, especially for her who was from the legal profession. The pressure she faced was much greater than the other ordinary girls. Occasionally, she also wanted to find a person whom she could confide in. The person was not necessary be able to share her pain in life but could at least read her feelings.
Could Xu Baohan be the man?
“Ms An, Chief Judge Xu, I’ve finally managed to find both of you. That’s Great!” All of a sudden, Li Yuchen’s voice was heard coming from below the steps, panting heavily. He was leading a large team but he was in such a sorry state that he was practically crawling on the steps.
An Lan looked at him and was speechless. If she wasn’t taken care by Xu Baohan, she would probably ended up like him.
It was pathetic.
The rest of the colleagues from the law firm gradually climbed up one after another. All of them sat on the ground at once panting without taking care of their image. Yan Wen’s makeup was sliding off. She looked enviously at An Lan’s neat and tidy appearance, “Ms An, Chief Judge Xu truly has a lot of strength. He carried you and walked past us with vigorous strides. Whoa, why don’t I have such a boyfriend?”
