Little Apple crawled across the sofa and sprawled across Nian Xi’s shoulders, before saying in a childlike voice, “Auntie, I want to eat… the orange.”
“There, there,” Nian Xi said. She then peeled a slice of orange and fed it to him. Little Apple smacked his lips, savoring the fruit.
On the other hand, Jiang Yuning watched him in envy. He also wanted Nian Xi to feed him an orange.
“Xixi, are you still angry with me?” Jiang Yuning asked in a fawning manner as he sat down beside her.
“I’m not angry,” Nian Xi replied, but her eyes never looked away from the television. “You can come and go as you please. It’s fine even if you don’t ever hit me up again or answer my calls. Brother, why did you bring him over?”
Nian Junting snorted silently, and he felt like cursing her for her hypocrisy.
“Little Apple, let’s head outside with Daddy to look at the doggy, alright?” Luosang carried Little Apple and dragged Nian Junting out.
After all of them were gone, Jiang Yuning quickly squatted down and grabbed hold of Nian Xi’s hand. He then laid his cheeks on her tiny hands and said, “Xixi, don’t be mad at me anymore…”
“Jiang Yuning, stop bothering me!” Nian Xi retracted her hand in anger. “I understand if you don’t want to take care of me since you’ve been doing so everyday for such a long time. If you’re out of patience and want to take a break, you can just let me know about it. But was it necessary to ignore my calls? You didn’t even reply to my WeChat messages. Do you want to break up with me? You can say it to my face if you want to. I don’t like to beat around the bush. Don’t give excuses like losing track of time because you’ve been performing experiments in the laboratory. I’ve never seen any other scientist behave like this…”

“Xixi, I couldn’t eat,” Jiang Yuning said while shaking his head. “Other people are forcing me to break up with you, but I’m unwilling to! I felt miserable, so I hid in my room and neither ate nor drank anything.”
