Chapter 1439: The Present
“Why aren’t you moving?” Mo Liuxi teased as he nudged her with his foot.
“Cut it out!” Yan Su felt ticklish. “I was going to get your Christmas present and put it on for you, but you woke up and ruined the surprise for yourself.”
“Oh really?’ Mo Liuxi was disappointed. The only time he managed to wake up, he ruined the surprise that his girlfriend had planned for him. “I’ll close my eyes then. Can you put it on for me?”
He said that as he shut his eyes tightly. His hair was ruffled and his expression serene but child-like.
Yan Su’s heart went soft looking at him and she was reminded of Yan Yan. She couldn’t help but kiss his forehead with delicate affection.
Mo Liuxi smiled under her kiss and said gleefully, “I asked you to put on the present. What did you kiss me for? How in love are you with me?”
“I was just reminded of my daughter,” Yan Su cupped his face with her hands and said playfully.
Mo Liuxi opened his eyes wide and tried to protest, “Yan Su…”
“Don’t open your eyes — I’m getting your present,” Yan Su said as she covered his eyes with her hands.
Mo Liuxi was still again. Yan Su climbed out of bed and quickly put on some clothes, barely covering herself up. She found her bag and took out a necklace. She wore it around his neck.
After she was done, Mo Liuxi opened his eyes. He was expecting a luxury brand necklace of some sort but it was instead, a white jade pendant of Buddha.
He blinked, speechlessly. He had never worn anything like that in the twenty years of his life. “This is…”
“It’s Buddha. I went to the temple and said some prayers with it. It’s for safety.” Yan Su laid back down beside him and continued, “I think nothing is more important than your safety.”
Mo Liuxi looked at her a little astonished. He was deeply moved and he grabbed her shoulder tightly before kissing her on her lips.
Why did it mean so much, receiving a Buddha pendant from her?
Yan Su was shocked by his reaction too. “What are you doing?”
It was just a Buddha pendant. She wasn’t sure about her choice of the present at first; although she made sure that it was good quality jade, not a lot of men wore those kinds of things.
“No one has ever given me something like this before,” Mo Liuxi said. “I grew up overseas and I don’t really see a lot of these things. My mother isn’t a believer either.”
Yan Su thought about his past and felt bad for him. “My parents believe in these things quite a bit — I’ve always worn something like this ever since I was a kid. It’s difficult these days because I have to attend all sorts of events, and that’s the only reason why I stopped.”
“Baby, I love your present. Let me give you something too.” Mo Liuxi smiled mysteriously as he passed her a CD from his bag. “You are a big fan of Beyonce, aren’t you? I asked someone to record a video of her wishing you Merry Christmas — it’s signed as well.”
Yan Su looked at it and it really was Beyonce’s signature on the disc. She covered her mouth in delight, “Liuxi, how did you do it? This is amazing!”
Mo Liuxi was satisfied with her reaction. “This is nothing. Oh right, I recorded a video in there too. You can watch it when you’re back home.”
He cleared his throat and said, “I was planning to give this to you last year Christmas but we had a huge fight instead.”
Yan Su was startled. So this was the gift that he had planned the year before. He had put so much thought into the gift.
“Liuxi, thank you,” said Yan Su as she jumped into his arms.
Mo Liuxi inhaled sharply and he looked at her with fire in his eyes, “Please dear, I’m not wearing anything down there.”
Yan Su was embarrassed but before she could escape, Mo Liuxi had pulled her into the sheets.
