While waiting for the elevator, Yan Su glanced at Mo Liuxi and asked, “Why are you out so late at night?”
She remembered that he barely had any nightlife.
“I was hungry, so I went out to get some milk tea and after-dinner snacks,” Mo Liuxi said.
Yan Su saw him carrying two cups of milk tea from the place she liked.
“Do you want one?” Mo Liuxi handed her a cup.
“No, thank you.” Yan Su shook her head.
She thought, What if he asks for money if I accept it?
“Take it. I got an extra cup anyway,” Mo Liuxi said.
Yan Su didn’t feel right to say no again. She took it and asked, “How much? I’ll pay you via WeChat.”
“Just $10,” Mo Liuxi blandly responded.
“Alright.” Yan Su nodded.
She sent him the money once she got into the elevator. The signal was bad in the elevator, so Mo Liuxi received the money when he exited it.
He instantly pulled a long face and asked Yan Su, “Why did you send me money?”
“It’s for the milk tea.” Yan Su didn’t understand why he suddenly got so unhappy, “Do you charge extra for…”
Mo Liuxi let out a breath, wondering why in the world he had fallen for such a silly woman. Life was full of surprises.
“Didn’t I tell you that it only cost $10? Why did you still pay me for it?” he asked through clenched teeth.
Yan Su blinked and said, “You said $10 but didn’t say that I didn’t need to pay you. I thought you were telling me the exact price.”
“Do I look like such a stingy person?” Mo Liuxi coldly asked with a glare.
Yan Su nodded and said, “Yeah.”
Mo Liuxi was speechless. She seemed to have some deep misunderstandings about him. He understood that, though. He had never thought about building a relationship with her before. Now, he had decided to make her his girlfriend. That would be something different.
He couldn’t say that out loud. He needed to do it step by step, or she might get frightened.
“Alright, I’m not gonna take your money,” Mo Liuxi blandly said. “I can afford to buy you a cup of milk tea. Do you want some after-dinner snacks? I got plenty.”
Yan Su did want some spicy crawfish. She had dinner with Lu Kang earlier, but that dinner wasn’t satisfying since she had so much on her mind.
“Why are you suddenly so nice to me?” she asked.
She felt a little strange about Mo Liuxi’s behaviors, which made her worry.
Mo Liuxi stayed silent briefly before saying, “For some reason, I recently feel that having after-dinner snacks alone is boring. I prefer eating with someone else. That’s more interesting.”
Yan Su nodded. She understood how he felt. She felt the same.
“But, why? Don’t you always eat alone?” she asked.
Mo Liuxi was annoyed by her questions. “I guess I’m just old enough to feel lonely sometimes,” he said.
“Eh… I think you’re only 20, right?” The corners of Yan Su’s mouth slightly twitched. She was 23. If 20 could be called old, what was she?
“Yeah, I recently turned 20. Don’t you think that’s a big step in my life?” Mo Liuxi walked to his flat and said, “Come on.”
“Let me drop my bag off first,” Yan Su said.
Three minutes later, Yan Su went to Mo Liuxi’s place. He had already put the food on the table. When she got there, he was sitting on the carpet with his legs crossed. The room was full of the scent of the delicious crawfish.
“This carpet is clean. Come and sit here,” Mo Liuxi said as he waved her over.
He took a cup of milk tea out of the plastic bag, put a straw into the cup, and placed the cup in front of her.
“Thank you.” Yan Su took off her shoes and moved to the carpet. Holding the milk tea, she felt a little uneasy.
“Why are you so nice to me tonight?” she asked.
