Chapter 490: We Need to Be Jealous Less Obviously

“Don’t worry. How could I possibly let her be the maid of honor at my son’s wedding?”
Luosang slowly walked away and silently looked at the pond before her. The moonlight poured down, cold and dim. Her heart was just like that pond. It turned out that what Ye Chuen said was true. Nian Junting broke up with Leng Shuangwei because Murong Cheng threatened to kill herself. She could imagine how hard that must have been. They loved each other and were getting engaged, but suddenly, they had to break up.
Leng Shuangwei loved Nian Junting deeply, so she never had another boyfriend. What about Nian Junting? Did he stay single all those years because he still loved her?
Also, as she had thought, the Feng family really disliked her. Even though she had guessed some of these things, it made her feel a different way when she heard them from other people. What Mr. Feng and Mrs. Feng said was like cold, sharp needles to her. To make matters worse, both of them were elders that Junting respected.
She thought that she was already immune to these things, but it turned out that she was wrong. She cared about Nian Junting, so she cared about how those people thought of her.
She didn’t know how long she had been standing there when Nian Junting approached. “Since you’ve finished your call, why don’t you go inside? It’s chilly out here,” Nian Junting’s voice came from behind her.
She turned back. Before she could see his face clearly, he took off his scarf and draped it over her neck. She didn’t say anything.
“This is good. You won’t catch a cold no matter how cold it is.” Nian Junting looked at his work and nodded, satisfied.
Luosang raised her head, looked at his smiling face, and asked him, “Are you sure that you did not put this around my neck because it’s too warm for you?”
“Am I not allowed to play a trick on you, while you are on me?” Nian Junting took off one of his shoes and said, “I’m still wearing cashmere socks.”
Normally, Luosang would laugh, but now, she just couldn’t.
“What’s wrong? Are you jealous? Didn’t I tell you not to be jealous?” Nian Junting put an arm around her waist and said, “I was afraid that you might be jealous, so I’ve been trying to avoid talking to Shuangwei…”
“‘Shuangwei,’ that’s quite an intimate way to address her.” Luosang curved her lips downward.
“Even that can make you jealous.” Nian Junting gave a big smile and said, “Alright, I’ll be calling her Leng Shuangwei from this moment on. But you see, we’re at someone else’s place, so we should be jealous less obviously.”
“Never mind, let’s go in. I feel it’s impolite for me to keep standing out here.” Luosang sighed. She really shouldn’t pull a long face in this place.
“Alright. The dinner has ended. We’ll just sit a little longer, then leave.” Nian Junting smiled and put an arm around her shoulders as they headed back inside. As they walked in, the others all turned to look at them. Leng Shuangwei even stared straight at them.
“It’s still early. Shall we go for karaoke? We haven’t done it for a long time.”
“You go, I’ll pass,” said Nian Junting. “I just came back from Australia yesterday and worked whole day today. I’m exhausted.”
Luosang glanced at him with a weird look. He had actually found an excuse. Usually, he would say something like, “You single people with nobody to warm your beds have no idea.” She never liked that he always loved to brag about their relationship, but tonight, as he stopped bragging so much, she felt uncomfortable.
“You can get tired? That’s a rare thing,” said Ji Chuan.
“You haven’t recovered completely from your injuries yet. Don’t always go out, and make sure to sleep early,” said Nian Junting to Ji Chuan. He then asked Xiao Si, “We’re leaving, are you going to leave with us?”
Xiao Si had drunk more than anyone else. Even his tongue was shaking at that moment.
“He isn’t done drinking with me yet. Shuangwei will drive him home later,” said Mr. Feng.
“Don’t worry, I’ll drive Si back. I didn’t have any wine.” Leng Shuangwei raised her eyes to look at Nian Junting.
