“Now that you mention it, I wonder how he and Li Yuren managed to survive the bomb Feng Zexian planted at the apartment complex.” Zou Yin seemed to ignore the fact that Lu Xinyi rejected him. He then asked Feng Qianyu. “What do you think, Miss Feng?”
Wasn’t it a wonder how Shen Yi was able to beat them again and again, and just when he was about to be killed, he managed to escape in a nick of time? However, Zou Yin believed that Shen Yi would soon run out of luck.
“I also have no idea how he managed to survive,” she said with a frown. “But that’s alright. With Lu Xinyi here, it will only take some time; and he will show himself.”
“You hear that, my dear?” Zou Yin ran a finger on Lu Xinyi’s cheek, his face dangerously close. “Shen Yi cannot escape his demise now, but I can save you.”
Lu Xinyi remained silent. She refused to let him see the storm on her eyes. Did they mean that they were planning to kill Shen Yi once he arrived? She could not let that happen. She refused to believe that his life would end tonight.
Noticing the cold glint in her eyes, Zou Yin amusedly smiled at her.
“Such defiance in your heart. Instead of begging for your life, you would rather stay with that man?” He questioned.
“He isn’t just any other man. You sick bastard! That man is my husband!” She roared back.
They wouldn’t understand her, of course. They only cared about themselves and wanted to hurt Shen Yi by using her. At that moment, Lu Xinyi hated that they were able to hurt him because of her. She certainly didn’t want her to be the cause of her husband’s downfall. She didn’t think she could forgive herself if that happened.
“Not anymore.” Zou Yin grinned and lifted his hand. One of his men came forward and gave him a folder containing documents. “You will divorce Shen Yi this instance.”
He showed her a divorce petition under her name. Lu Xinyi was speechless as she looked over the first page. How? Just how was he able to produce such documents? Did he falsify all of these?
“Surprised?” Zou Yin chuckled. He clearly enjoyed watching how Lu Xinyi’s expression turned into shock. “Shen Yi isn’t the only one who can play games here.”
It took Lu Xinyi some time to recover from her shock before pure rage filled her entirety.
“Ridiculous! I will never divorce Shen Yi!” She shouted. Divorce Shen Yi? Never. How dare this man forge a divorce petition under her name? Zou Yin must be really tired of living! If she wasn’t tied, Lu Xinyi was willing to strangle this shameless man to death!
The laugh that followed by Zuo Yin was instantaneous. It was as if he’d already expected her answer.
“Are you sure, Miss Lu? I’m giving you a way out on this.” He laughed. “You and I know that Shen Yi’s life will end tonight, and that isn’t something you can change just because you don’t want it.”
“I rather kill myself after he died and followed him in the afterlife.” Lu Xinyi told him without batting an eyelid. She would rather die than betray her husband by divorcing him to save herself.
True, the reason why she agreed to marry Shen Yi was that it would save her from a lot of trouble from the Sun family, but that didn’t mean she’d throw her marriage out of the window and abandon Shen Yi now that a problem arose.
What kind of wife would she be if she would abandon him at the first sign of danger? This wasn’t the right way to overcome the problem.
“Why is it because my status can never be compared to him?”
Lu Xinyi squinted her eyes as she pondered his question until it dawned upon her what he meant.
The disparity between people’s class and status could never be overlooked by a normal person, but this wasn’t the reason.
“No. Because my heart and body only belong to him. You cannot force me to leave my husband.”
A deafening silence ensued. Both Lu Xinyi and Zou Yin tried to gauge each other’s resolve.
“Hmph, you don’t know when to give up, do you?” He pushed Lu Xinyi away from her roughly, making her fall on the floor. She groaned in pain and sat up, her eyes filled with hatred.
Zou Yin’s mood changed from amusement to irritation.
“Let’s see how long you can endure, Lu Xinyi! I’ll let you see with your own eyes how your beloved Shen Yi died in my own hands!” he said before turning to leave with Feng Qianyu. The latter gave Lu Xinyi a wicked smile as she followed Zou Yin out.
The other men left the warehouse and locked the three women inside, not caring if they were cold or not. So now, they would only have to wait how this night would end?
Once they were gone, Li Qiao scoffed and leaned her back on the wall. She eyed Lu Xinyi and Sun Feiyan who refused to utter a word to each other.
“Feiyan, how come you are here? I understand why they abducted me… but you?” She asked Sun Feiyan. After all, between her and Lu Xinyi, Li Qiao was more familiar to Sun Feiyan whom she’d been acquainted with overseas.
‘What else? It is because Xinxin managed to force our beloved aunt to cough blood from her conspiracy,” Sun Feiyan responded coldly.
“Oh? So it is my fault now?” Lu Xinyi interjected, “Isn’t this because you lured me to play this game with you?” She spat back to her cousin.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as Aunt Mingai considers us a threat to her position, she’ll eventually come after us,” Sun Feiyan defended herself with a more logical explanation, ignoring the way Lu Xinyi laughed at her with sarcasm.
“So do you know who I am?” Li Qiao asked the little devil.
This was the first time for her meeting the demon’s bride in person. She was able to see her first during the Sun Corp’s anniversary party but never got a chance to talk with her. She was curious to know what kind of woman who was able to tame Shen Yi when she couldn’t.
“You are General Li’s sister,” Lu Xinyi wasn’t sure how to address the other woman properly, but it would be inappropriate for her to bring the topic of Li Qiao being her husband’s ex-girlfriend.
“Wow, this is new. Finally, a person who didn’t call me ‘Shen Yi’s woman’ or ‘Princess Qiao’!” Li Qiao burst into laughter.
Lu Xinyi couldn’t understand why this woman still got the time to laugh when their lives were in danger. Seeing her perplexed reaction, Li Qiao laughed harder which was a complete contrast of what Lu Xinyi’s impression she had for Li Qiao on her mind. With the way she laughed, it wasn’t ladylike at all.
“Then just add it to your titles, Li Qiao. You’ll be known as the elder sister of the Great General Li.” Sun Feiyan rolled her eyes. Li Qiao sure had a weird way of entertaining herself. There wasn’t a hint of fear on her face at all.
“Ah, that’s right. Just like what Madam Shen said, I’m the General’s sister so how dare this Zou Yin and Feng Qianyu kidnap me?” Li Qiao smirked evilly. “They don’t know who they just offended,” she said in a tone filled with confidence.
