It was time.
The dreaded time Shen Yi knew would come sooner or later. He had to say goodbye to the only person that he felt cared for such a long time of being by himself, to the only person that he felt happy with.
As he watched Shen Xue’s car sped away with his wife on it, he wondered how he was supposed to live without feeling like he’d lost a part of him.
He shook his head and laughed inwardly. Lu Xinyi was just leaving for school. She wasn’t really gone for good. He was reminded of all those times when they would just talk and laugh and do normal things that normal people would do.
Lu Xinyi had made him forget that he was the head of a prominent company. She’d treated him normally. In her eyes, he was just Shen Yi, her husband. He wasn’t the infamous president of the Shen Group that people dare not to offend.
If he could, Shen Yi wished he could go back to when he first met her so he could do it all over again and wouldn’t change a single thing. Having Lu Xinyi on his side was one of the best things that happened to his life.
As he prepared himself to get ready for work, he realized that it would be harder to adjust than he thought. Lu Xinyi just left, and not an hour had passed—he was already missing her.
He needed her because without her, he was a nobody. Shen Yi had this feeling in his chest where it just felt empty like a black hole, pitch black and barren. He felt lost, and the only way for him to be found again was to see his wife again.
Making sure that all the important files he needed were complete, he drove towards their office building downtown. Qiao He met him at the lobby to give him a quick overview as to what to discuss with the new investors.
Upon arriving at the conference room, the investors for the newest project of Shen Group stood up and greeted him and his father. A familiar face came into his view. The woman he hadn’t seen for seven years, Li Qiao.

“Nice car. Did you just buy it? I’ve never seen you drive this before.” Lu Xinyi commented.
Shen Xue’s car looked more expensive, and one of the kind than those luxury cars that her husband kept on their garage. She’d never understand men’s obsession with cars, but she’d not question it.
Shen Xue laughed awkwardly. He didn’t want to tell her that Shen Yi was the one who bought it for him. He didn’t want to cause another trouble for his brother. He’d never win an argument against Shen Yi—not even once.
When one talked about the most expensive cars in the world, they were no longer talking about cars as a means of conveyance.
The most expensive cars in the world were cars that were built to be rare and were usually limited to the rich and powerful.
Luxury cars, like the Shen brothers, had were like paintings from famous painters. These cars were limited, which was perhaps why they made a lot of money at auctions.
“You know you really don’t have to drop me at Lunar Residence. I know how to get there. Didn’t Yi said you have an important deal to close today?” Lu Xinyi asked while watching the scenery outside the window of the passenger seat. “It’s alright. I have to meet the new headmistress anyway.” Shen Xue took the turn right and arrived within the academy grounds.
It was true. He was meeting Han Zhiling to discuss Lu Xinyi’s safety during her stay at the academy. Shen Yi would have done it himself, but the work he left at Shen Group was piling up that needed his immediate attention.
Shen Xue shifted in his seat. A cold sweat starting to affect him. He dearly hoped that his brother would be able to close the deal without making too much trouble.
Why did that woman decide to show herself at this time anyway? Why now when his brother had already moved on and had Lu Xinyi in his life?
Arriving at the driveway of Lunar Residence, Lu Xinyi quickly bid goodbye to her brother-in-law and left before people start gossiping about them. Before Shen Xue left, he gave her a key card for her ‘room’.
Seeing the familiar grin at his face, Lu Xinyi suspected that something wasn’t right. Turning her head at the direction of Lunar Residence, her jaw dropped in amazement.
This was a dormitory?
It was more like a five-star hotel!
Lu Xinyi stepped inside the building in a daze. She took her time checking the ground floor and was impressed by the furnishing of the front desk. A woman sitting behind it welcomed her with a smile.
“Welcome to Lunar Residence, Miss Lu. We hope you’ll enjoy your stay. Please feel free to give us a call if you need anything,” she said before giving Lu Xinyi a pamphlet where the services and amenities offered by Lunar Residence were listed.
Lu Xinyi read the pamphlet on her hand and wasn’t surprised to see some amenities that could be found in a luxury hotel. Lunar Residence was supposed to be a dormitory, but she’d never thought that it would be like this.
Some amenities include state-of-the-art clubs, luxurious spas, and gourmet restaurants that were being run by the academy. Lunar Residence also offered butler services.
Gosh! Just how much did her husband spent for her stay?
“Your space is located on the 19th floor. You may use the separate elevator at the end of the hallway at the right. Lunar Residence doesn’t have a curfew, but we don’t allow sleepovers in here. Visitors are allowed until ten in the evening. We also don’t allow pets inside. If you have more questions, please give us a call.”
Lu Xinyi could only nod for she was speechless. This wasn’t the kind of dormitory she had in her mind!
Using her keycard, she pushed the button for the 19th floor and waited until the elevator reaches her destination.
Once the elevator opened, she was speechless once again. The whole floor was only to herself?!
Shen Yi never mentioned that she’d be staying in a penthouse.
The 19th floor had a cozy atmosphere with the wall painted with warm tones. Opening the front door, she was greeted with a clean, shiny marble floor that could reflect one’s image from its cleanliness.
High-end appliances were installed; the finest materials were used for fitting. The penthouse had a luxurious flooring system and a private intercom which allowed the front desk to inform her if she had visitors.
The ceiling was constructed to be four meters high. Windows were made to be as high and wide as they could be.
Her penthouse had a very sophisticated technology system. Moisture sensors were used to detect a leak, automatically sending a notice to the building manager. Temperature sensors and smoke detectors were installed in the spacious kitchen, making sure that there would be fewer problems just in case there was an accident.
From the terrace and wide windows, Lu Xinyi had fine views of the city skyline.
With its panoramic views and seclusion, the penthouse had long been associated with wealth and prestige. The demon king was always in the details.
No matter what the reason, there were certain essentials that Shen Yi had come to expect when staying at a place that wasn’t his home. After all, whether it’s a business trip, vacation, or a short stay, his decision always came down to comfort and convenience.
What’s the best he could give to his own wife? Of course, the best suite that Lunar Residence could offer. Not only the security was tight, but it would also give Shen Yi privacy whenever he wanted to visit his wife.
Checking the master bedroom, she wasn’t surprised to see a walk-in closet that was filled with a row of different clothes for different occasions. All of it in her size. From her lingerie, home clothes, and party dresses—all of it were specifically custom-made just for her.
Lu Xinyi could only gape like a fish thrown out of the water at the absurdity of her husband. He was spoiling her too much! A simple apartment or suite would do, but he went overboard again!
Taking her phone, she dialed his number; but he didn’t answer. Remembering that he might be in the middle of the meeting, she decided to give him a quick message instead, without knowing that her marriage would be put on another test once more.
