Zhao Xi felt like she was given a front seat to a spectacular show. Never did she think that Shen Yi’s wife could be this fierce! Was this the reason why Shen Yi chose Lu Xinyi of all women to become his wife? She could sense Lu Xinyi’s anger, but she hadn’t truly understood this woman.
Needless to say, Lu Xinyi’s ruthlessness was comparable to her husband’s. If anyone thought she was easy to bully, they’d be disappointed to find out that Lu Xinyi could make them crumble to their feet.
“Y-you can’t…” the manager stuttered. She felt like she’d just step on a landmine and was about to be blown up.
“I can’t? You don’t think I can exercise my right as the dutiful Young Madam of the Shen family?” Lu Xinyi’s voice was so low that only Zhao Xi and the manager were able to hear her.
What little color the manager had on her face was drained. Her knees weakened, threatening to give way and make her fall into the cold floor.
To any outsider, it looked like Lu Xinyi was just asking for some explanation from the manager. A customer complaining to a manager. However, Zhao Xi knew better. She knew that Lu Xinyi wouldn’t let the manager off so easily, not now when everyone associated her with President Shen.
It would leave a bad name for Shen Yi if Lu Xinyi couldn’t handle this problem by herself.
Regret. That was what the manager was feeling when she realized what Lu Xinyi meant. What had she done?
Lu Xinyi backed away and looked around them. The other diners stopped midway their meals to watch the commotion between her and the manager.
“Zhao Xi, you’re a doctor. What could we possibly get from eating contaminated foods and dishes that weren’t prepared properly?” Lu Xinyi asked.
Zhao Xi noticed Lu Xinyi’s intention, gladly taking this chance to humiliate the manager further.
“Well, for one. You can possibly get food poisoning if you consume it. Symptoms can occur as soon as an hour after consuming the affected food. You may experience abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.”
The manager hoped, at that moment, for the earth to swallow her alive to avoid further humiliation. The look at her face was like that of prey that was trapped in the corner with Lu Xinyi waiting for a chance for that kill.
Lu Xinyi took a simple glance her way. If this woman hadn’t humiliated her in front of everyone, she wouldn’t have bothered unsheathing her claws.
“Would Miss Manager take responsibility if any of her patrons today suffer from such symptoms? You dare to serve us such kind of dish that you wouldn’t eat yourself, charging us with a hefty amount of money to eat your trash? No thanks!”
The diners agreed with Lu Xinyi. Of course, the prices being charged at them weren’t that cheap, and the restaurant served them meals not safe for consumption!
“I want a refund!”
“This place is disgusting! We should’ve eaten somewhere else!”
“Miss Lu is right. How can they serve such dishes and expect us to pay for the quality of their meals and services? Just look at how she treated Miss Lu! That’s very unprofessional of you!”
The manager kept her silence, terrified to utter a word that could fuel their customer’s anger. She looked at herself and realized how out of place she was. No one was trying to stand up for her. They all took Lu Xinyi’s words without a single doubt.
This woman… she could turn the tables to her favor so easily.
The woman, who stood by the demon king’s side, was someone who shouldn’t be disregarded. Until now, no one knew what kind of woman Lu Xinyi was and how she was able to stand beside Shen Yi.
Lu Xinyi sat back on her seat and lifted her head with a serious expression on her face.
“Why won’t you say something now? Aren’t you going to defend yourself, or did you overestimate yourself this time?” she said with the same cold tone.
“It’s my fault, forgive me, Miss Lu,” The manager responded, lying through her teeth. If Lu Xinyi was really the young madam of the Shen family, then she was in big trouble!
Lu Xinyi’s lips twitched. She was about to respond, but at the entrance of the restaurant, two familiar men stepped inside gathering the attention of the onlookers.
The manager recognized one of them immediately. How could she not recognize the demon king himself?!
Who would’ve thought that he would choose to show himself at the same place where Lu Xinyi was?
Now, everyone was aware of his presence. They watched intently as he strode to where Lu Xinyi was. They knew that they couldn’t dare to offend Shen Yi, but what about Lu Xinyi? This man, who was capable of making any business crumble down without lifting a finger, came rushing to his woman’s side.
At that moment, they all remembered how the manager poured a glass of wine on Lu Xinyi’s head and gave her a pitiful glance. They knew then that she could not redeem herself. The manager lowered her head and avoided to meet eye contact—when she should be the first one to welcome him at their establishment.
“Have you eaten yet?” Shen Yi’s voice made the manager tremble more. He sat down beside Lu Xinyi and placed a kiss on her forehead. He stopped and took a sniff on her hair. “Why are you soaking wet? You reek of alcohol.”
Lu Xinyi greeted back her husband with a gentle smile. So different from the menacing grin she had earlier.
“Not yet. Their dishes aren’t on my liking, dear. About my hair, I think the manager thought I need to have a wine bath.”
Hearing those words from the little devil, the manager stood still, wishing she could dig a hole to hide.
