Lu Xinyi would never understand rich people, but since she was now part of the Shen family, it would give them a bad name if she took the twins to a local shopping mall than to this absurd place. She and the twins were currently checking the map so they wouldn’t get lost while her friend was busy browsing and checking her phone. Thankfully, Xiao Lan offered to join their shopping spree today to buy some more clothes for her baby.
“Do you think neutral colors will be the best for the nursery room? We’ve been arguing what color should we use, but we couldn’t come up with a mutual decision.” Xiao Lan complained as she threw back her phone inside her handbag.
“I don’t know. Did you tell him the gender of the baby?” Lu Xinyi asked, frowning as she tried to remember where the shops for kids clothes were located.
The first floor up to the fourth floor was full of branded boutiques for clothing and bags. From the fifth up to the seventh floor, jewelry and shoes took the spots while entertainment and the food court could be found on the eighth floor which was also the top floor.
Seeing that the shops they intended to visit were on the third floor, Lu Xinyi led the children to the elevator and was surprised to see Sun Qiyan when the doors opened. The woman’s eyes widened as she recognized Lu Xinyi. Her jaw clenched, and she refused to move aside while Lu Xinyi and the twins stepped inside.
Lu Xinyi tried to ignore her cousin, not wanting for the twins to see her argue with someone. Her expression hardened, but her lips curved into a small smile when Little Yuyan tugged at her hand. The children waited until they reached the third floor and ran to the nearest shop where they saw several toys and dolls displayed.
“Zhichen, look after your sister!” Lu Xinyi called out behind them and then turned to Xiao Lan, pleading her to follow the twins. She knew that Sun Qiyan wouldn’t let her go easily.
“What’s the beggar doing in a place like this?” Sun Qiyan pulled Lu Xinyi’s arm and sneered once they were out from the children’s earshot.
Her hate for Lu Xinyi grew as this woman was the one responsible for forcing her mother into a mental breakdown. Seeing Lu Xinyi in a place like this—wearing branded and expensive clothes, walking around as if she was truly part of the upper society—irritated Sun Qiyan.
“Ah, but am I really the beggar here?” Lu Xinyi smacked her cousin’s grip off of her arm and raised a brow. “What happened to you? I thought you said you can buy me and my whole life anytime you wish?”
The mocking tone was apparent in her voice, enraging Sun Qiyan further. Lu Xinyi raised an eyebrow and looked pensively at her cousin. Even just by standing and looking at Sun Qiyan, Lu Xinyi could tell that she was really attractive and definitely not ugly. Although Sun Qiyan would never have a chance to beat their other cousin, Sun Feiyan, the only daughter of the deceased Young Master of the Sun family.
The truth was Chairman Sun fathered three children from his mistress and a daughter from his wife. The Sun family had four existing granddaughters, but Sun Feiyan and Sun Qiyan were the only ones known to the public since they joined Sun Corporation. Sun Qiushan and Lu Xinyi’s identities were kept in secrecy.
“You think just because you donned a branded outfit, you can talk back to me?” Sun Qiyan laughed. She would never give Lu Xinyi the right to humiliate her.
“Do I look like a beggar to you? I’m not asking you for money or anything. I can pay for my purchases with my own money. Can you?” Lu Xinyi dared. This cousin of hers was more vicious than Sun Feiyan.
If Sun Feiyan was a wolf in a sheep clothing, Sun Qiyan didn’t bother to conceal her insecurities against Lu Xinyi. Lu Xinyi could still remember how Sun Qiyan beheaded her favorite doll and pushed her on the ground when she was staying within the Sun Estate. She really hated Sun Qiyan and her friends. They never failed to pick a fight with her.
“So I heard that you were able to leech your way into the Shen family. Are they aware of what kind of woman you are? It must be nice to become a girl toy of their young masters.” Sun Qiyan taunted her.
“This is unbecoming of you, Miss Sun,” Lu Xinyi replied. Her words sounded sweet like honey, but her face was cold as ice. “Making assumptions and gossiping? I didn’t know it was part of the training for Sun young misses. I can’t remember our mentor saying it was okay to gossip in public.”
Lu Xinyi shrugged her shoulders, not wanting to waste any more time with another Sun family member. She tried not to roll her eyes in annoyance. Why couldn’t they leave her alone?
She walked towards the shop where Xiao Lan and the twins went into and sighed. Sometimes, she wished she was never been part of that family, but her mother being a Sun and the legitimate child of the family had brought pain and problems throughout her life.
