Shen Yi went home with a slightly irritated mood. He was still pissed off that Shen Xue took his desserts and wasn’t able to have them for himself. Opening the front door, he lazily walked toward the living room before he heard laughter coming from their kitchen. Did his wife have a visitor at this time?
“Xinyi, you should teach me some other time how you did it. I want to try and cook something for my husband, too. Damn, Shen Yi. Such a lucky man. If I were a man, I’ll try to take you away from him.” Xiao Lan smirked.
“I wanna see you try.” Shen Yi warned.
When Lu Xinyi saw her husband arrive from work, a smile bloomed from her face, the unwanted happenings earlier pushed out of her mind. She threw the dry washcloth at the counter before moving towards Shen Yi, giving him a peck on his cheek.
“Hello. How was your day?” she asked.
Shen Yi groaned when he remembered those forever lost tiramisu and panna cotta.
“Bad, but it’s getting better.”
“Hey, I’m still here. Don’t give me a front seat for your lovey-dovey.” Xiao Lan reminded them about her presence.
Turning his head to acknowledge Xiao Lan, Shen Yi quirked a brow when he saw her eating a slice of cake. Were these people tired of their lives that they dare take his Xinyi’s cooked meals from him?
Then something caught his eyes. There was a dark bruise on his wife’s arm. Where the heck did she get this? Who dared to hurt his little wife? It annoyed him that her pale skin was marred by this bruise. His eyes narrowed as he studied it. True, he had put mars on her body during their intense lovemaking, and he knew he hadn’t put it there.
Lu Xinyi bit her lip and looked worriedly at her husband.
“Where did you get this bruise?” Shen Yi demanded sharply. He needed to know who hurt her, but Lu Xinyi just held onto him and did not say anything.
“Tell him, Xinyi.” Xiao Lan nudged. This was something that they couldn’t hide from him. What would happen if Lu Xinyi’s old flame dared attack her again?
Lu Xinyi finally let him go but was a little shaken up from what happened. She started to confess what happened after she and Xiao Lan finished shopping and met Gong Yijun and Meng Jiao at the parking lot.
Shen Yi was instantly alarmed. His eyes almost saw red when his wife confessed that Gong Yijun was the one who put the darkening bruise on her arm and how Meng Jiao slapped her when she confronted the bitch.
It took everything in Shen Yi not to snap and lose it. He was at the point where he was about to find that delusional couple and make them pay for hurting his Lu Xinyi. He was known to have extreme self-control, and yet those who knew him well were also aware that Shen Yi held his grudge and tended to it like a little pet.
“The guy even dared to propose marriage to Xinyi,” Xiao Lan mentioned.
Lu Xinyi gaped at her new friend. She had no idea that Xiao Lan would add fuel to the fire. The look on her husband’s face made her know that he was mad. Really mad. He was scary. Never did she see Shen Yi angry like this before as if he wanted to murder someone.
Stupid. Shen Yi thought. When he told Gong Yijun to do his worst, it never occurred to him that the man would dare lay a hand on his wife and propose marriage to win her back. What kind of man who would hurt a woman he claimed he loves? Liars!
Gong Yijun and Meng Jiao threatened and hurt the wrong person.
Noticing the indifference on Shen Yi’s face, Lu Xinyi took his hand, placed it on her cheek, and planted a soft kiss on his palm.
“Shen Yi, I’m okay.”
But it was like Shen Yi didn’t hear her. His mind was trying to come up what to do with those cheating couple. He really wasn’t planning to meddle and let them go unscathed in the first place, as long as they left Lu Xinyi alone. His murderous thoughts kept his attention away from his wife. He was going to make sure that Gong Yijun and Meng Jiao would not bother Lu Xinyi again.
Xiao Lan shivered when she saw the familiar look on Shen Yi’s face. Ah, she wasn’t really planning to make the situation worst, but Shen Yi would find out everything eventually so why bother lying to him.
“Shen Yi, calm down.” Lu Xinyi pulled his arm. Shen Yi looked at his worried wife and cursed himself for making her worry. He grabbed Lu Xinyi and held her closely. He had to get better control of himself when he was angry, but it was hard.
“I’m sorry for all of this. I don’t want to make you worry,” Lu Xinyi whispered to him.
“You have nothing to be sorry about. You’re my wife. It’s my duty to protect you and keep you from harm.” Shen Yi responded as he ran his fingers through her thick long hair. Lu Xinyi melted into him. This was right where she wanted to be. In his arms, she knew she was safe, and no one would dare hurt her.
