Her heart sank, but the pain of betrayal was overwhelming. The hate she felt for the cheating couple had made her throw her logical mind out of the window.
Shi Yimu was supposed to become the Madam Sun? What about her then? Tang Lingfei right then said that she’d never let Shi Yimu become one in this lifetime!
However, just like what Sun Liuxian told her, he’d never given her the satisfaction to be happy. He made it clear that he was going to marry her to spite her and for the sake of saving his family business. She was nothing but merely a pawn at his disposal.
In his heart, she’d never be worthy enough of being his wife. For him, Tang Lingfei wasn’t comparable to his Shi Yimu, the one he considered his wife.
During their wedding photoshoot, Sun Liuxian sneered at her with disdain as if he would rather be somewhere else than stay at the same place where she was. When it was over, Tang Lingfei changed her clothes immediately and let the staff pack it up.
The dressing room was very lively. There was an endless stream of noise from all the staff moving and shifting the dresses and equipment used during the photoshoot. Suddenly, all noise ceased down when Sun Liuxian entered the room and strode towards his bride filled with contempt.
He quietly signaled the staff to leave and ignored the curious glances he received from everyone.
Tang Lingfei was aware of his presence and wasn’t surprised when the staff silently left the room. She didn’t turn around to regard him but continued removing her makeup in front of a vanity mirror.
“You smile very well. I didn’t know the Young Miss of the Tang Family can also act well like their famous stars.” He sneered at her.
Tang Lingfei wanted to laugh, but she just smiled mockingly back at him instead. Deep inside, she wanted to cry and scratch this shameless man’s face with her own hands. He should’ve broken their marriage arrangements than cheated on her. Just because he was also a selfish bastard, he couldn’t let go of the opportunity to use the Tang family.
“Sun Liuxian, in your eyes, Shi Yimu is a goddess while I’m nothing but trash to you? Fine. Then please tell your lovely mistress that she’d never have a face to give everyone!”
She could see the hatred in his eyes, but she refused to back down. She couldn’t wait for him to leave her alone so she could cry again in peace. He did and banged the door behind him as he walked out.
The tears she was holding broke out, and she sobbed uncontrollably. Since she was young, she was set to marry this man; but now that she was going to marry him, Tang Lingfei hoped that she’d never learned to love him… never met him in this lifetime.
The door opened and shut again, footsteps coming her way.
“Feifei…” Tang Lingzhi couldn’t understand why his sister still wanted to marry a useless man like Sun Liuxian.
Tang Lingfei lifted her head and stared back at her brother with teary eyes. In front of him, she didn’t need to pretend she was okay.
“Zhi, why do we have to fall in love with someone who can’t love us back?” Her eyes were bloodshot from crying.
“You don’t have to marry him,” he solemnly said. “Sun Liuxian doesn’t deserve my sister at all.”
The wedding was extravagant, and people couldn’t help themselves but admire the beautiful bride. In this star-studded wedding, the popularity of the Tang and Sun families soared with this union.
As she was busy entertaining their guests, Tang Lingfei stood in the crowd, watching how the emcee relay their love story and made it sound that they were meant to be with each other after long years of separation.
In the end, everyone gave the newly married couple a loud cheer and best wishes.
After the wedding, Tang Lingfei found herself alone at the Sun Estate. She knew where her husband went and smirked when she remembered their parting words earlier.
“You’re only my wife in the paper. Don’t expect that I’ll share my bed with you.” Sun Liuxian spat out.
In his eyes, Tang Lingfei couldn’t see any trace of guilt or remorse but disdain and hatred for him. Why did he sound that she’d just ruin his life by marrying him?
“Does it matter where I sleep? You can go to wherever you keep Shi Yimu. She’s probably devastated, seeing our wedding photos. In the end, she’s just a mistress sleeping with someone else’s husband.”
“Tang Lingfei!” Sun Liuxian roared. He lifted a hand to hit her but stopped midway when he saw the look she gave him.
“What? Are you mad? You’re still with her, aren’t you? Why are you so angry? I’m just stating the truth. Your Shi Yimu is just a common whore-slash-mistress now.”
Sun Liuxian was burning in rage but couldn’t refute her words.
She laughed as she watched his retreating figure, going away on their first night as being husband and wife. She sighed and shook her head.
‘So much for getting married. The groom ran away to fuck his side chick.’
They just got married, and Sun Liuxian was so ready to run away from her to chase after his lover.
She decided to take a walk to clear her mind. Tang Lingfei knew that Sun Liuxian wouldn’t dare to divorce her anytime soon. Not when the Sun Corp hadn’t recovered well from their last problem. It would take two to five years until the business fully recovered from its losses.
Tang Lingfei walked down the stairs and saw the almost empty living room, with only a couch left and curtains on the windows. The main house was about to be renovated and her new husband gave her a leeway to do anything she wanted to it. Looking around, she found herself standing inside the wine cellar later.
The aroma teased her senses and left her intoxicated with the scent alone. The wine bottles were rare and one of a kind. She hadn’t thought that Sun Liuxian had a fascination with collecting expensive wines around the world.
She was now the lady of the house. Everything that he had, except for his heart, was hers. Shi Yimu would never enjoy the leisure as being his wife. Their affair would continue, but Shi Yimu would bear the title of just being a mistress.
Tang Lingfei had long decided that she’d never let the cheating couple have their own happy ending after what they’d done to her and the Tang family.
Taking one bottle with her from the wine cellar, Tang Lingfei came back to the living room, still dressed with her white wedding gown. Her footsteps then echoed within the empty room. Sitting lazily on the couch, she poured herself a glass of wine until she was drunk.
She leisurely raised a glass in the air, laughing like a madwoman.
“Cheers for our not-so-happy ending!”
She was laughing, but her tears continued to roll down her cheeks. She obviously ruined the chance of Sun Liuxian and Shi Yimu to have a future together so why couldn’t she feel any sense of satisfaction?
In the end, whose heart was bleeding profusely?
Was it the man who lost his chance to marry his lover? The woman whose face was ruined and lost her stardom? Or the woman who married the man who can never learn to love her, only hate her?
