Lu Xinyi frowned. Sun Feiyan? So what? That bitch could go to hell for all she cares. Sun Feiyan was a two-faced woman anyway. Whatever she deemed the best and profitable would fall into Sun Feiyan’s hands by all means and avenues necessary.
“What about her? So what if she’s back? I have nothing to do with the Sun Family anyway,” she replied to Yuan Jin.
“You wouldn’t say that if you’ve seen this!” Yuan Jin took a rolled magazine from his coat and slapped it down on the table.
Lu Xinyi’s eyes widened. She put down her cup and took the magazine with mixed emotions. No, she wasn’t looking at the pretty lady at the front page of the magazine. While everyone might get charmed by that beautiful smile plastered on Sun Feiyan’s face, Lu Xinyi knew better.
Her eyes were fixated on the red brooch that was pinned on Sun Feiyan’s light pink dress. She would notice it everywhere, and it didn’t matter if she hadn’t seen it for years. That was the last gift she received from her mother, and Sun Feiyan had taken it from her when she was staying at the Sun Estate after her mother’s death.
“So are you going to accept it?” Yuan Jin asked her, taking back the magazine from her hands before she could ruin it with her tight hold.
“What’s there for me if I accept it? Besides, I’m not as beautiful as Feiyan.” Lu Xinyi turned her back to her best friend and washed the used cups on the sink.
“But Xinxin—”
“I’d rather keep a low profile. You do know that if I accept your offer, Feiyan would come after me.”
Yuan Jin rolled his eyes.
“As if she isn’t already doing that! Look, Xinyi. If you keep letting them step over you, I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to make your life miserable at Silver Leaf. Not now that Sun Feiyan had sponsored that bitch!”
“Sponsored who?” Lu Xinyi wiped her hands clean and leaned on the countertop.
“Who else but Meng Jiao! Can you believe it? How long have they known each other?” Yuan Jin creased his brows.
It seemed like Meng Jiao had been stabbing Lu Xinyi’s back even before she seduced Gong Yijun. How could she get a sponsorship from the Sun family if Sun Feiyan didn’t convince Meng Jiao to betray Lu Xinyi’s trust?
There was a slight hurt that flickered in Lu Xinyi’s eyes. It still hurt her to know that Meng Jiao hadn’t considered her feelings and chose to betray her.
“President Shen, please convince Xinxin to agree.” Yuan Jin changed tactics. He really wanted Lu Xinyi to use as his model for his next ads. “If you can convince her, I’ll give you exclusive pictures of her in a bathing suit!”
Shen Yi’s attention suddenly turned to Yuan Jin. “In a bathing suit?”
Oh, the last time he and Lu Xinyi visited the beach, she refused to wear one.
“Yuan Jin, you liar! You’ve never taken those pictures, didn’t you? Don’t give Shen Yi ideas!” Lu Xinyi exclaimed when she saw the amusement on her husband’s face.
“What? I’m not lying! Have you forgotten that we celebrated your 20th birthday in a beach resort?” Yuan Jin reminded her. Lu Xinyi slapped her forehead once she remembered. Indeed, they did, but she couldn’t remember Yuan Jin taking those photos of hers.
“Xinyi, it wouldn’t hurt to help him; besides, you still have enough time to prepare for Silver Leaf’s exam,” Shen Yi commented.
“You bastard! Traitor! You are supposed to side with me!” Lu Xinyi growled at Shen Yi. How easily her husband could be bribed with such things?
Shen Yi and Yuan Jin were ganging up against her. She couldn’t deny help from Yuan Jin. He had helped her several times when she was in need, but this… knowing that Sun Feiyan was involved. This would be a declaration of war to the Young Miss of the Sun family.
Heh, who cares. Lu Xinyi thought. She was the Young Madam of the Shen family, and that wouldn’t make her inferior against Sun Feiyan’s social status, a granddaughter from a mistress. She had to find a way to retrieve that brooch anyway, and meeting that woman would be inevitable.
She counted the days mentally. There were still five weeks before the examination, and so far, she had only done practicing the basic skills and had yet to finish reviewing the rest of the pointers for the written exam.
Lu Xinyi rubbed her temples when she remembered that she had to review the accounting subject. Fuck, math. Couldn’t run away from it.
“Okay, fine. So what’s the theme for this ad?”
