“Xin’er is right, Qiyan. We regret cutting some resources for Starlight, but that doesn’t mean we’ll allow you to fail. The future of Starlight Collections falls into your hands. If you cannot save the brand yourself after this, we will pull you out from the project and give Starlight to someone else to manage it,” Sun Mingai said with disdain in her eyes.
She believed that neither Sun Feiyan nor Sun Qiyan was able to run the company. Sun Feiyan might be well-educated abroad, but her focus was more on corporate laws, which were only able to save the Sun Corp from entering unfair deals and contracts while Sun Qiyan was like a pampered child given a huge obligation in Starlight, only for her to ruin the efforts of her mother in it.
The atmosphere inside the room was suffocating.
Sun Mingai’s word had hit all of Sun Qiyan’s sore spots, and the elders looked at her way pitifully. Some could only keep their mouths shut, hoping they wouldn’t start another rift between the Sun family members. However, none of them expected that Lu Xinyi, such a devil she was, would notice the elephant in the room.
“I thought I was invited here to talk about the change in the person in charge, or am I mistaken?”
All the shareholders looked at one another. They looked at her incredulously. Was she serious? Where did Lu Xinyi get this arrogance? Or was it because she had now President Shen and wouldn’t allow anyone to question her?
Sun Mingai’s lips twitched. It seemed that this daughter of Sun Meixiu wasn’t really dumb like her other cousins.
Sun Feiyan’s eyes darkened, but she didn’t utter a word to refute Lu Xinyi’s claims while Sun Qiyan shivered, knowing that the sudden change in management would pressure her not to fail this time.
The board of directors had their apprehensive eyes on Lu Xinyi. Would she dare to overturn the management to oppose Sun Feiyan? After all, it wasn’t lost to them that since childhood the two had been after each other’s neck.
According to the rules, the board of directors was elected by the majority of the shareholders anyway. Now that her marriage to Shen Yi had been disclosed, would Lu Xinyi use this advantage to secure a position on the board?
With an apologetic smile, Sun Feiyan answered Lu Xinyi’s question.
“Indeed, this is why we sent an invitation to you, Xinxin.”
Lu Xinyi scowled at that. She really couldn’t take her maternal family’s pretentiousness. She was astounded to see how composed Sun Feiyan was and raised her eyebrows as she observed her.
“I’m stepping down from my current position to give way to Aunt Mingai. This is only proper,” Sun Feiyan said, leaving the elders speechless on her announcement. Her voice was solemn as she said these words as if she was regretting this decision, but it could not be helped as her past decisions favoring Sun Qiyan after the scandals had somehow ruined her reputation to the shareholders.
Lu Xinyi’s eyes turned cold as she heard this. Was Sun Feiyan passing her obligation to save herself from the future demise the Sun Corp had to suffer? This cousin of hers was really hard to understand at all.
She originally thought that Sun Feiyan hated her and repeatedly tried to test her patience by using Meng Jiao, but after she thought hard about it, she realized that her hatred for the Sun family was as deep as Sun Feiyan had. Her cousin was purposely using her to provoke their aunts and Chairman Sun.
However, regardless of how Sun Mingai gained her position, it didn’t matter to Lu Xinyi. She’d let the older woman enjoy her time at the Sun Corp before taking her down with it.
Lu Xinyi wanted to cry as the last moments she shared with her mother crossed her mind, but instead, she forced herself to smile.
“Oh? Then, that’s great. Why don’t we start voting now?” she raised her hand after saying it. “I’ll give my vote in favor of my aunt.” She formally proposed the dismissal of Sun Feiyan as the CEO of Sun Corp to the board, not giving the latter some face.
As she spoke, she looked at Sun Feiyan. The pupil of her eyes was indecipherable; it was almost impossible for everyone to know what she was thinking about.
One by one, the shareholders followed her lead, and the end of the meeting named Sun Mingai as the newest CEO of Sun Corporation.
Sun Mingai stared at Lu Xinyi with confusion. She couldn’t comprehend why her niece was happy with the change in management. Her mind leaned at the idea that it was Lu Xinyi’s way to get revenge on Sun Feiyan; after all, the latter was the one responsible for Meng Jiao’s death.
The viciousness under the calm pretense of Lu Xinyi was evident. Such a devious woman, how could Sun Meixiu give birth to such a child? She spoke like a devil herself, taunting and humiliating Sun Feiyan in front of everyone.
Sun Feiyan stood from her seat and looked at the crowd and then at Lu Xinyi who was watching her with a sinister smile. She took a step back, chewing her lower lip as she tried to force down the humiliation creeping up on her face.
“As a representative of Chairman Sun, I’m thanking everyone for your support and helping me. Please also extend your support to my aunt as she leads our company and to make better decisions in the future.”
She stood there, motionless for a long time. She only broke from her trance when she heard Chen Anqi calling her name. Chen Anqi was standing behind her; she was worried to see her like this. This wasn’t the Sun Feiyan Chen Anqi knew.
Lu Xinyi watched from the sidelines how this funny drama played out by her cousin. She looked at Sun Feiyan with a perfect expression of arrogance and disdain. She was truly the demon’s bride, the shareholders thought the same.
They were startled from this sudden change. None of them had anticipated that Lu Xinyi would force her own cousin to step down by favoring her aunt, Sun Mingai. Just how deep did Lu Xinyi’s hatred of Sun Feiyan run?
They all thought that Lu Xinyi had gotten even with her cousin, but in reality, it was Sun Qiyan’s turn to face her own nightmare.
