Speaking of dogs, she was starting to miss the two dogs she left to her brother-in-law. It felt like ages since the last time she was with her furbabies. Too bad, she wasn’t allowed to bring pets to Silver Leaf, or else she would bring her two Akita dogs with her.
Lu Xinyi didn’t bother to fix her hair and cover the love bites that Shen Yi left on her neck. Shen Yi loved how she let everyone see whom she belonged to. He wasn’t sure if she knew about those marks but kept his tongue about it until she brought the topic up.
Lu Xinyi yawned big, with her hand covering her mouth.
“Miss Mo, you are just in time. We need someone to scrub our kitchen floor.” She taunted.
“You!” Mo Lihui’s face scrunched up. So this was Lu Xinyi’s real attitude without pretending in the face of the public.
Her cheeks almost heated up when she spotted the love marks on Lu Xinyi’s neck and collarbone. Just how shameless Lu Xinyi could be? Showing the evidence of their deeds in public.
“Or are you here to apply as a guard dog? Your voice was too loud; you really know how to piss off my husband.”
“Lihui! Didn’t I tell you to stop messing around?! You aren’t helping me at all!” Mo Liwei chided his sister and greeted Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi, “Sorry to disturb you, but we’re here to discuss some business.”
“Eh? But your sister here is calling me a cheater now? What have I done now?” Lu Xinyi crossed her arms.
Mo Liwei shook his head. This morning, the local TV station broadcasted Silver Leaf’s entrance exams. There, they found out that Lu Xinyi was the academy’s topnotcher. Mo Lihui felt cheated for Lu Xinyi was almost in a pro-level when she competed with her.
“Silver Leaf’s top rookie this year? You must be pulling my leg when you played with me!” Mo Lihui complained.
Had she known that Lu Xinyi was a big shot in the capital, she wouldn’t dare to make a bet with her. Lu Xinyi knew that she wouldn’t lose that easily. Now, she and her brother had to give up Blue Haven to this couple.
Unlike the last time, Mo Lihui’s eyes didn’t show disdain and deep hatred for Lu Xinyi. It was more like she’d woken up from a long dream and could see reality better than ever.
Shen Yi was beyond her reach, and there was a good reason why he chose Lu Xinyi of all people.
“You said you’re here for business…” Shen Yi cut Mo Lihui off. He would rather finish this discussion so he and his wife could go back to sleep. He hadn’t thought that taking an afternoon nap would be enjoyable. His hectic schedule at work forbade him to enjoy such simple luxuries.
The Mo siblings were led to Grace Palace’s main hall. It was where Mo Liwei presented to Shen Yi the deed for Blue Haven Restaurant as well as their account records.
“We lost, and we’re here to pay for it.” Mo Lihui told Lu Xinyi. Lu Xinyi stared at Mo Lihui’s face for a long time until Mo Lihui felt unease under her intense gaze.
Moments later, Lu Xinyi’s lips curled into a smile. She might be a vengeful woman, but she knew when it’s time for her to stop. She could tell Mo Lihui had learned her lessons the hard way.
If she was a professional chef, Mo Lihui would never have a chance to redeem herself. No matter what, Mo Lihui’s image had been destroyed by Lu Xinyi in just one day. The image that she’d tried to build over the years was ruined.
Shen Yi read the books, flipping the pages one at a time. Taking a quick peek over his shoulder, Lu Xinyi’s eyes widened at what she read.
“This…”
“Yes, Madam Shen.” Mo Liwei started, “Blue Haven is on the brink of bankruptcy. Even if my sister didn’t put the restaurant up for a bet, we will lose it sooner or later.” He confessed.
Mo Lihui lowered her head in shame. After her defeat to Lu Xinyi, her brother gave her a long talk and told her the real status of their restaurants. She couldn’t even go into public without receiving their stares.
Her defeat was so humiliating she felt like digging her own grave just to hide herself. Yet, she couldn’t just leave her brother to clean up the mess she’d left.
“Ohh…” Well, Lu Xinyi wasn’t really interested to possess Blue Haven. It was just a way for her to spite Mo Lihui for trying to seduce her husband. If Mo Lihui admitted her mistakes, she wouldn’t have to go to that extent to get Blue Haven from her family.
“But you’re still receiving customers daily. The line never ends. What seems to be the problem?” she asked.
“When have you noticed a decline in your sales? There’s also a huge amount of money being withdrawn from your accounts?” Shen Yi added.
“It usually happens during lunchtime when tourist visits peak and classes end. We couldn’t serve everyone.” Mo Liwei confessed.
It was really hard for them to serve everyone even if they want to. The communication between those in the kitchen and the servers were messed up.
“And these withdrawals?” Shen Yi lifted his gaze from the records and saw Mo Liwei hesitated while Mo Lihui had a frown etched on her face. She had no idea where were these losses going.
Mo Liwei stared at the couple. Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi might look like a normal couple, but their actions and eyes said otherwise.
There were vigor and radiance in their eyes, the same look Mo Liwei had seen from successful personalities—people who can play the world at the palm of their hands if they want to.
