The grim expression on Sun Feiyan’s face as she stood on the balcony of her hotel suite, making Chen Anqi uncomfortable. Today, not only did Meng Jiao walk out, but she also gave shame to the Sun family. Since then, Sun Feiyan’s mood had never been good.
Sun Feiyan leaned on the balcony, a wine of cup on her right hand. Deep in her thoughts, she looked out over the gorgeous view that the place offered to her. The setting sun was casting shadows over the high-rise buildings at the distant.
With the light of her suite turned off, the shadows outside gave her a menacing aura.
“Where is Meng Jiao?” She asked, her voice cold and serious; one would be afraid to meet her fury head-on.
“She went back home, Miss Feiyan,” Chen Anqi replied hesitantly. She’d never seen her mistress this mad for years. The last time was when her mistress’ father, the Sun family’s only young master, died on a hospital bed.
“She still got time to sulk and lick her own wound? Heh, she must be thinking how kind I am for letting her go that easily.” Sun Feiyan sneered, throwing the wine glass on the floor in anger.
A loud shattering sound resounded on her silent hotel room. She couldn’t go home at this rate, not when she wasn’t stable. Meng Jiao had ruined her plan with her schemes. Now, she was back at square one and would have to deal with Lu Xinyi using a different approach.
“Bring that woman in here!”
“As you wish.” A masculine voice answered her command. A tall, dark figure stepped from the shadows.
Ye Xingjie, her bodyguard who had been watching her patiently on one side, stood up and left without a word. Chen Anqi could only look at his retreating figure, surprised that he still chose to stay with Sun Feiyan’s side after all the things that happened in the past.
“Yanyan, please calm down. It would do you no good if you keep getting mad. You were aware of the possibility that Miss Meng will betray you…” Chen Anqi said in a soft, calm voice. She brought down the workload that Sun Feiyan would take home later. “Now, wait here as I call a room service before you hurt herself.”
Sun Feiyan kept silent this time and let Chen Anqi do as she said. Minutes later, room service came and cleaned away the shattered wine glass on the floor, making sure not a single shard was forgotten or overlooked.
“Yanyan, I know you are mad. How about you take a shower first while waiting for Ye Xingjie? After you deal with Meng Jiao, you can take a nap. You’ve been working too much these days.”
“I’m fine, Anqi.” Sun Feiyan looked away. The burden of keeping the Sun Corporation stable while keeping her aunt at bay was exhausting her. It was Meng Jiao’s betrayal that became the last straw to her patience.
An hour later, Sun Feiyan sat on a chair facing the huge window while Chen Anqi sat across her, making phone calls to their business partners. The sun had already set, and only the crescent moon on the sky was the light source of her hotel suite.
Chen Anqi cut the phone call and took a glimpse of her mistress’s face, relieved that she was in a better mood. Her relief was cut off when someone broke into their door with a woman shouting. It was weirdly familiar to Chen Anqi so she stood up and opened the door of the study.
Ye Xingjie came into the view. His handsome face was impassive as he dragged Meng Jiao’s upper arm tightly, leading her to where Sun Feiyan was.
“Let me go, you brute! Why did you kidnap me? You just wait; I’ll call the police to arrest you!” Meng Jiao’s shout could be heard from the main room.
She kept yelling at Ye Xingjie, infuriating her further as the man ignored her words. Only then she realized that he was bringing her to someone when he threw her on the floor without a word.
Meng Jiao lifted her head and saw Sun Feiyan staring down at her with her right leg draped on the other leg, her chin propped up with the back of her hand.
Meng Jiao trembled. All the curses she was about to say were forgotten. The demoness staring at her with cold eyes, making her want to run away to hide from her sight.
“You’re going to call the police? Please do so; I want to see which of us will be taken in the end.” Sun Feiyan challenged her.
“I-I wouldn’t… I wouldn’t dare, Miss Sun…” Meng Jiao refused to meet Sun Feiyan’s gaze. She had an idea why she was brought here.
“Ha! So, Miss Meng still knows how to be obedient? I wonder, though, what made her betray me and follow my aunt and cousin’s plans?” The sarcasm on Sun Feiyan’s tone wasn’t lost to Meng Jiao.
‘Shit. Sun Feiyan found out. How could this be? I was sure no one was following and watching us when I met them,’ Meng Jiao thought.
“You wonder how did I find out?” Sun Feiyan said as if she could read what was on Meng Jiao’s mind, “Do you think I wouldn’t have found out that you meet them before your wilderness activity and receive a hefty amount of money deposited on your account?” she continued.
Meng Jiao’s face lost all its colors when she heard Sun Feiyan. What? She knew all this time? Then, why she hadn’t said anything?
She was staring blankly at Sun Feiyan that she hadn’t realized that the other woman leaned forward and grabbed her chin painfully, forcing her to look at Sun Feiyan’s bitch face. Meng Jiao cried and tried to pull away but failed.
“Such a useless thing! I took you and saved you from that dump, only to betray me?” Sun Feiyan sneered on Meng Jiao’s face before a loud resounding slap landed on Meng Jiao’s face.
Ye Xingjie and Chen Anqi didn’t stop their mistress. Chen Anqi looked away. This wasn’t the side of Sun Feiyan she wanted to see while Ye Xingjie’s handsome face remained as is.
“Miss Sun, I know I was wrong. Please…” Meng Jiao continued to cry, but another slap hit her other cheek. She was really frightened by Sun Feiyan.
“Please what?” The intense glare that Sun Feiyan sent her made her want to cry and hide from a ferocious monster.
