“Aren’t you going to ask me about my relationship with your husband?” Li Qiao then asked Lu Xinyi amusedly. She was impressed that Lu Xinyi was able to contain her emotions at this time. If she was another woman, Lu Xinyi would have cried and begged for her freedom.
Like what Zou Yin said, she could have turned her back to Shen Yi if she wanted to, but Lu Xinyi remained faithful and showed her trust on Shen Yi right to Zou Yin’s face.
“Isn’t it already in the past? As long as you don’t cross the line, I have no right to question you,” the little devil replied. She wondered if the drug used on her still affected her mind and consciousness. Blinking her eyes, she suddenly felt dizzy in her place.
“Oh? So you don’t care that I’m your husband’s first?”
Lu Xinyi groaned. She wondered if Li Qiao was testing her. There was no point in worrying about the things she had no control of.
“Not at all. As I said, it was in the past. Didn’t you say earlier you are already married for two years? Unless, of course, if you were lying to Zou Yin? If you are an ex, stay an ex. You wouldn’t want to start a fight you can’t win, right?” she countered back confidently.
The corners of Li Qiao’s lips turned up. It was a good thing that Shen Yi was able to marry a woman with a good head over her shoulder and wouldn’t cause trouble over petty issues like their past relationship.
Lu Xinyi couldn’t remember how long she’d been asleep and seated in the same place since Zou Yin and Feng Qianyu left. Staring at the other women across her, conversing in low voices, she was surprised to find out that the two were acquainted with each other. While Sun Feiyan didn’t say that much, Li Qiao hadn’t stopped talking at all.
“How long are they planning to keep us here?” Li Qiao complained. The chill of the night was starting to bite through her thin clothes.
“I have no idea.” Sun Feiyan sighed and wished that they hadn’t tied her hands on her back so she could at least wrap her arms on her numb legs.
“Stupid people,” she mumbled to herself but was loud enough for Li Qiao to hear, making her laugh.
“Why don’t you call your boyfriend for help then? I’m sure he’ll be willing to play the hero role as long as you’re the damsel in distress.” Li Qiao hummed as she looked around them, checking if there was an exit that wasn’t blocked by old furniture.
“You know, Li Qiao? You’re really hard to understand sometimes.” Sun Feiyan turned her face away, not wanting for Li Qiao or Lu Xinyi to ask further questions related to Ye Xingjie. She hadn’t seen the man for more than a month now, and she would be lying if she didn’t admit that she missed him especially at these times.
When she met Ye Xingjie, she never felt the need to worry about her safety whenever he was around. Neither did she think that he would leave her sooner than what she’d expected. She wasn’t familiar with the prominent families within the capital, and that was why she was shocked to the core when she found out that Ye Xingjie was the second Young Master of the fallen Ye family.
Her mind was thrown into chaos and wondered if she willingly fell into his deception by helping him to return to the country.
Lu Xinyi shot her cousin a glance and chuckled lowly. She didn’t think that Sun Feiyan was capable of love until she heard about Ye Xingjie from her husband.
“I doubt that she will call for his help,” Lu Xinyi commented, much to Sun Feiyan’s annoyance.
“Right. I couldn’t believe that the Great Sun Feiyan was so slow-witted when it comes to love,” Li Qiao added with enthusiasm. It was rare for her to see Sun Feiyan blushing like this.
Sun Feiyan glowered on both women. Why were they ganging up to tease her? Really, that Shen Yi had a weird taste on women. Irritation crept to her face. Li Qiao had really got a bad timing in teasing her.
“If you two don’t shut up, I’ll kill you by myself before Zou Yin can do it,” she warned them both. Why were they suddenly interested in her personal affairs?
A cold breeze entered inside through the broken windows, and Li Qiao’s teeth started to chatter. Damn these men for bringing her to a place like this. She would no doubt get a cold later if this persisted. Where was her brother when she needed him though? Li Qiao thought.
“Ay? Calm down, Feiyan. We’re just joking. I can tell you… you and Second Young Master Ye really suited each other. I’m curious though, both of you have cold personalities. Haven’t you frozen each other to death from boredom? I don’t even know how you two get along? I’ve always thought that in a relationship, both parties should complement each other; otherwise, it wouldn’t last long.”
“Instead of making fun of me, aren’t you worried that no one will come to save us?” The woman in focus refused to meet their curious eyes and looked away.
Li Qiao shrugged before lifting herself from the floor. Ah, thankfully those men were too dumb to forget to tie their feet or legs, which give them some mobility.
“Feiyan, come here and let me loosen your ties. We cannot allow them to notice this. Get a chance to escape if you’ve seen one. Same with you, Madam Shen. As long as we can assure your safety, my brother and Shen Yi will be able to save us,” she said sternly.
The playfulness in her tone earlier was nowhere to be found. She was a princess from a military family after all. She might not be as strong as her brother, Li Yuren; but her training during her childhood had given her enough stamina and intelligence to survive crucial times like this.
“How convenient of you, Qiao. You should have said this earlier than waiting for us to wait for too long,” Sun Feiyan complained but did what Li Qiao asked her to do nevertheless.
“Help us, Lu Xinyi. Qiao wouldn’t be able to see the knots. Only you can do this,” she added. She felt Li Qiao sat behind her with her fingers fiddling over the ties. “Careful. They tied it too tight.” She let out a hiss when Li Qiao pulled a wrong knot.
Lu Xinyi blinked twice and listened intently for the sounds from outside the warehouse. She could hear some laughter from afar, but the conversation was too low for her to understand.
Forcing herself to kneel, she guided Li Qiao to loosen the knots on Sun Feiyan’s wrists. She also did the same as Sun Feiyan returned the favor to Li Qiao. With the ties loosened a bit, it would be easy for them to find an opening to escape later.
However, before Li Qiao could start working on Lu Xinyi’s ties, they heard the men’s footsteps from the outside coming back towards them. The three hurriedly back to their previous places and pretend to ignore each other.
