Chapter 2058: Circumstances Behind
Davis arrived before Evelynn, causing her to show the spider mark to him, "Does this mean that I have received some form of recognition from the inheritance palace?"
"I think so." Davis nodded as he cast a look at the barrier, "Probably only you could enter it without getting harmed by its defenses. It's your lucky chance, so I'll not join, but before you go past the courtyard after bringing out Ivy Aries, are you willing?"
"I'm willing!"
Evelynn answered without a hint of hesitation. However, Davis took a long while, like more than a minute, before he answered her.
"Alright. No matter what happens, don't die."
Evelynn smiled resplendently behind her purple veil. She headed towards the arch gate and saw what Davis witnessed, arriving at a similar conclusion. In front of her was a semi-transparent purple barrier. She stepped forwards, flying towards it, and the moment she touched the barrier, it rippled, allowing her to pass.
She didn't stop heading forwards, only stopping when she arrived in front of Ivy Aries. Her soul sense scanned the collapsed woman before she turned to look at Davis.
"There's no injury. She's only exhausted."
Davis nodded, "Bring her back."
Evelynn acquiesced as she lifted Ivy Aries, piggybacking her. She returned hovering, passing through a semi-transparent purple barrier. It didn't impede her entrance and exit one bit, allowing Davis to confirm that this was how Valley Master Jade Aurora left Ivy Aries, but for what kind of reason, he still couldn't understand.
After all, if they searched for the exit together, it would be easier, no?
Evelynn summoned a single bed out from her spatial ring and laid Ivy Aries on it. She then leaped towards Davis, hugging him tightly.
"I believe you can do it."
Davis patted her head and ran his fingers through her purplish-green hair gently.
Evelynn was no longer the old Evelynn for him to be worrying about. She had gone through numerous trials already for her will to be easily defeated. Although there was worry that he could never erase, he had an immense belief that she would pass the trials of this immortal inheritance with ease. Her current prowess was nothing to laugh at the very least, after all.
Evelynn kissed his lips and parted, leaving towards the inheritance palace without uttering a word.
She passed the arch, entered the barrier, and hovered past the courtyard, whereupon her figure disappeared, causing a bit of unease to appear in Davis's heart.
'I should curb my overcautious mind at the moment...'
He felt like he shouldn't create imaginary dangerous scenarios in his head.
"Ellia," Davis turned to look back at the white-haired woman, "I'm going to shamelessly ask you questions, and you're going to answer now. What do you know about this world, the inheritances, especially the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Immortal's Inheritance that lasted till this time, and the matter of Candidates?"
"That's a lot of questions, and that expression of yours says that you wouldn't take no for an answer. Are you worried to death about your precious first wife?"
Hearing a teasing voice, Davis narrowed his eyes.
"I'm not talking with you this time, Myria."
"Hehe~" Myria giggled before her smile faded, replaced with a contemplative expression.
"Don't mind about Myria. She's just pleased that a person with that damned treasure could care about someone to this level."
Ellia smiled before she continued, "First, this world is rather… that touches upon karmic burden, so I won't speak about it. As for the inheritances, didn't I say before that the master of this world released the news of that damned treasure to the entire immortal world? When they did so, they simultaneously invited many powers to have a chance at owning this damned treasure in turn for a deep cost, which is having one or two of their powerful younglings sacrifice themselves, forming a karmic connection with the master of this world while also empowering the aboriginals here to cooperate with them. This way, they could slightly escape the effects of karmic burden that plagues this world and tend to gain out of it."
"Is that what the Candidates are for? Don't I already..." Davis appeared confused, but he didn't say it.
Was he the final enemy for those candidates because he possessed Fallen Heaven? What kind of bullshit is that?
Ellia made a skeptical expression, "Possibly, but I'm not sure since it was just a chance to have a fate with that damned treasure while the main source of attraction and the foremost reason why they decided to send and sacrifice their most talented younglings is for those powers to have a chance at obtaining the prized cultivation manual of the master of this world. In other words, a successor to the master of this world."
Davis gawked, understanding that the master of this world was an amazing and powerful person for them to be able to attract so many powers from the immortal world and have them sacrifice their most talented youths. However, he also understood that it couldn't be their most talented youths. A power wouldn't dare to use their hope as a sacrifice because if they did, it would mean that they could be in dire straits.
"Well, Myria and I don't know much since she was in dire circumstances during that time. She was the least bothered until… Oops, looks like I said too much. In any case, the circumstances behind the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Immortal Inheritance could be rather special as I believe the last I heard from their magical beast species was when many powers were hunting them down due to some reason."
"Because they were feared for the ability to use hexes since Hex Laws are Supreme Laws?"
Davis asked, quickly worrying as he wondered if Evelynn would be targeted in the future.
"There is that too, but- ah! I remembered." Ellia suddenly exclaimed before her face lit up, "This is something Myria heard as a rumor, so this memory is not quite clear, but I think that it was because they actually managed to-"
