Chapter 3785 Stranded?
"What do I think about Fairy Thunderblaze…?"
Davis raised his brows, looking intrigued.
"Yes." Evelynn nodded as she lay in his arms.
"I'll be facing her in the Candidacy, and I want to know if she is off-limits. By any chance, do you have any lingering sentiments for her?"
Her voice was sweet but her demeanor was unusually calm as though testing the waters.
"Haha." Davis chuckled, "I don't, and what do you mean by off-limits?"
Evelynn's lips curled, "To kill."
"Well, if she's truly an ally, she's reliable, but if she's an enemy, you would want to get rid of her first on the list. Regardless, you can do as you please in the Candidacy, Evelynn. If you want to get rid of her, go ahead. If you want to make friends with her, I won't reject either, but don't believe you could easily make friends with someone like her as she believes that there is no one she could trust in this world other than herself."
"The sight of it makes me want to pat her head as she's such a child— even going on about how she wants to influence me or not." Davis laughed lightly before he shook his head.
"However— she's indeed good. Setting aside her inadequacies, I can respect how she values her dignity. You would expect her not to be picky with the way she does things as she's cunning and talks like she wouldn't stop at anything to attain what she wants, but she's extremely prideful and wouldn't settle for any less than a complete victory all the while trying to maintain her dignity. That's how headstrong she is…"
"…"
Looking at Davis explain his emotions about Fairy Thunderblaze, Evelynn's eyes fluttered. She felt like he almost admired her.
As she gazed at him, she blinked one last time, and the scene in front of her changed.
Dark crimson flames erupted into the space, causing a miniature plume to surge as it devoured everything in its wake.
Zenova Artoria unleashed a tremendous amount of annihilative dark crimson flames that completely spread throughout the cargo ship and burned everything to ashes.
Not a single wreck was found floating in space, much less corpses.
Evelynn retreated slowly into the empty space, feeling her energy being siphoned from her. However, she held her breath and closed the pores, stopping the energy from leaving her body. The annihilative dark crimson flames burned her black robe, but it was unable to do anything to her.
She looked at Zenova Artoria, who hovered in the space without a motion. It was unknown what she was thinking, but to have blown up their ship, she could tell she was deeply pissed. Her wrist was grabbed, and she completely exploded with wrath.
She couldn't find fault. After all, even she was enraged. She would've killed them all if a few more seconds had passed. She was unable to believe how daring those men behaved when they thought they cornered two helpless women, taking it to a whole new level of degeneracy by trying to violate them in a group.
Her blood boiled. However, the truth was that she failed to attack them as it would prove to be nothing but trouble. Perhaps she wanted Zenova Artoria to handle it, but she knew it was her fault.
"I'm sorry. I should've kept my end of the deal and finished them off with my silent hex techniques."
Evelynn hovered towards Zenova Artoria, standing before her as she said a few words with guilt.
Zenova Artoria had done so many things, getting them this far, but she forgot her end of the deal, which was to kill retards like these so they wouldn't leave a trace. Now, she could sense annihilative dark crimson flames all over this area of the space.
"It's fine. I could've taken them out silently as well, as they were weak."
"…?" Evelynn suddenly looked confused.
"You mean— you blew the ship intentionally? There were other passengers and crew members too that didn't need to die…"
"You think so?" Zenova Artoria looked amused, "The crew members will eject the hidden compartment if they find it has been compromised in whatever way possible."
"What do you mean?" Evelynn narrowed her brows.
Zenova Artoria shook her head, "Did you think I wouldn't be prepared for this kind of scenario when I was the one who said you should be prepared to deal with monsters like these men?"
"If we had made a mess and life signatures disappeared, then we would be ejected into space at a high speed. Why do you think those bastards told us to be obedient and not retaliate?"
"…"
Looking at Evelynn go speechless, she scoffed.
"If we had killed them silently and the crew members detected some life signatures disappeared, they would quickly take action and inform their people on this side or the other side. It's just been half an hour utmost, so their communication with the Eternal Twilight Border Town should still be good. We can't have them sharing information that they are smuggling two Empyrean-level characters, right? That's more suspicious than their ship suddenly blowing up into smithereens."
She spread her hands, and the remnant annihilative aura in the air suddenly started turning vague as though fading into the vast expanse of the space, but additionally, Evelynn could see that Zenova Artoria was absorbing any traces of her attack left into her dantian.
'It's her physique…' Evelynn thought.
Zenova Artoria continued, "And we have enough time to clean up and return or continue our journey. Since we're in space already, who's going to check us? The coast is clear. Bring out one of your constructs, or should I use mine?"
Zenova Artoria asked.
Evelynn went silent.
Zenova Artoria was right. If the smugglers were alive when those bastards were killed, they would absolutely prioritize the safety of their business and eject them into space and leave them stranded, not to mention also inform their headquarters.
The situation would be the same as now, with them hovering in space, but even worse, as they would've been exposed.
She was taken aback and a bit upset as they lost their ship to enter the Twilight Eternal Lower Realm. Still, she didn't blame Zenova Artoria, as she also wanted to kill everyone in sight for the derogatory comments and the audaciously degenerate actions they made. However, it seems like Zenova Artoria was in control from the start to the end.
Her actions didn't leave any traces for the most part, and she took care of loose ends, the unrelated people, like she was taking care of a simple matter.
Evelynn heaved a sigh as she realized that she wasn't ruthless enough unless pushed to dire straits, "I'll listen to your words. We can use my construct, but this doesn't come from my inheritance."
"That's even more favorable~"
Evelynn waved her hand, and a construct appeared in space.
It was a relatively small battleship.
