Chapter 3854 Guarding The Cabin
Davis stood guard outside Clara's cabin.
He had his hands folded across his chest, his gaze sharp. Despite the flying ship traveling at immense speed, there was no tremor to be felt inside. Davis could hear the mild hum of the thrusters, but Clara's cabin remained steady and calm, the formations inside automatically dispersing such sounds.
He relaxed slightly, knowing that she was safe inside.
Time passed.
The ship slowed down for some time before it finally stopped.
Davis didn't go out or release his senses, but he knew they must've already reached the Northern Border Town, which led to the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm.
Once again, he couldn't help but feel envious of possessing such a ship. It made traversing the Third Layer quite easier and faster. He wished he had one of his own.
'Maybe, I should steal it given the chance…'
Davis wondered.
He didn't think he would succeed, as this ship's core would be bound.
However, he learned one thing.
If the Empyreans and Autarchs all possessed such ships, then they could quickly get to him during his tribulation, even in the depths of space. The warp mechanism alone covered trillions of kilometers in an instant.
All they needed to obtain were the coordinates of the anomaly, and they could likely warp to his location. They would quickly descend on him.
'It's no wonder the World Master said to maintain an extreme amount of distance or do it somewhere completely isolated…'
Davis inwardly sighed.
Even if he did it in an isolated location, it was possible that the Celestial Transcendent might expose his location somehow.
Of course, he had utter confidence to overcome his tribulation.
However, the Celestial Transcendent had a bit of liberty to move and talk freely. If the Celestial Transcendent used his freedom to extend the duration of his tribulation by running around, then he would be caught and stabbed from all sides.
It would be game over for him.
"What are you thinking?"
"…"
Davis came out of his reverie and turned to look at Autarch Yulan Nazarin, who was staring at him with a puzzled expression. Davis could tell Autarch Yulan Nazarin was wondering how he didn't notice him when he stood so close.
Perhaps he was wondering if he was doing a good job of guarding. Either way, Davis knew he had to focus on the problem at hand.
"Venerable Autarch."
Davis cupped his hands, " I was just wondering if her majesty had such a flying ship, it would be far easier for travel. However, I figured the fuel usage would also be great, so it might not be the most practical option for us right now."
Autarch Yulan Nazarin nodded thoughtfully, "Indeed, efficiency is always a concern when it comes to transportation. Perhaps there are other ways to improve travel without relying solely on flying ships. Teleportation formations are one such way, but not every realm would have them as they are difficult to maintain and cost steeply."
"Us Heaven's Warriors are free to use them, but it is a matter of pride and honor for us as well. We won't simply ask people to help us and leave. I'm sure your master is the same."
"Yes, master is too reserved. I had to talk with those people on the other flying ship and have them give us a ride in order to get her to our destination faster. Fortunately, we managed to meet you, Venerable Autarch."
"Autarch Yulan is fine."
The other party nodded, "Tell your master that there's news of a black-robed figure possessing a strange treasure related to death energy near the Southern Border of the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm. The chances that it is the Divine Emperor of Death are high, but even if not, we're going to capture them and execute them. We cannot allow such dangerous entities to roam freely."
Autarch Yulan Nazarin said it firmly, his eyes filled with determination, before he turned around and started walking away.
"Regardless, this would be a great experience to accumulate for your master if she were to accompany me and watch from afar."
"Understood."
Davis cupped his hands and lowered his head, "I will be sure to relay this information as soon as Master shows signs of being out of focus."
The other party left without saying anything.
Davis raised his head and looked at his hands.
He was still himself, but to others, he was the person whom he impersonated with Karmic Impersonation. It seems like his disguise didn't fail him. He was relieved to have successfully deceived the other party even at such a close encounter, giving him more confidence in its ability.
After all, he didn't use Fallen Heaven to cast it. Instead, he relied solely on his own ability.
He was glad to see that it worked like a charm. However, such a thing may not work against a more powerful opponent. Besides, he also knew disguising anyone above his prowess might not work as the conditions were also becoming clearer to him.
'It might not work on Late Stage Empyreans and Autarchs… and impersonating as Empyreans and Autarchs would make the impersonation quite unstable, leading to distortion of my image...'
Davis felt like he needed to use Fallen Heaven to fool or impersonate such entities.
Nonetheless, Davis was wondering who this target was. Do they have a death-attributed treasure? Or can they use death energy? Or perhaps both? That intrigued him. However, he was more worried about his friends.
'Seriously… I can't be doing side quests now…'
Davis inwardly complained.
However, by his calculations, he would arrive in the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm with at least one or two days of time to spend before the execution. He was determined to find a way to save them before it was too late. However, they could only get a brief respite between arriving at the realm and planning if there were no obstacles in their way.
The Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm didn't have a good representation and was filled with bandits and dangerous creatures. Moreover, the terrain and weather were also not good. He could only hope the Empyrean Grade Flying Boat was capable of ignoring or withstanding such challenges on their way.
He acted like he was waiting for a while before relaying this information to Clara.
She nodded and didn't say anything, still maintaining a level of cautiousness in the flying ship as it was possible that they could be listened to, although it was unknown if a righteous Heaven's Warrior would involve himself in such degrading behavior towards a fellow Heaven's Warrior, much less a woman.
