Chapter 1779: Disagreement?
Davis wryly smiled at Evelynn as he caressed Isabella's purple hair that felt realistic to the touch.
Unlike Evelynn, who knew that he was safe with the soul connection they shared, not to mention that she was able to view through his eyes with her third eye, Isabella didn't have such an ability, nor did she know how he was faring and could only get updates through the All-Seeing Towers.
Although both Evelynn and Isabella could've just disturbed his avatar or his main body and asked him what he was doing, it seemed like they personally left their studies to find where he was, and when he was got caught flirting with Sect Master Lea Weiss, even if he came to possess thick skin in his current years, he could not help but feel shameful of his actions, especially when they were genuinely worried about him.
Nevertheless, hiding his embarrassment, unlike Lea Weiss, he held Isabella's shoulder and stared at her face.
"My empress, I've decided to marry Lea Weiss."
Isabella looked at him with narrowed eyes. She didn't answer but turned to look at Lea Weiss, her black eyes flashing with a golden glint as she scrutinized her demeanor.
Lea Weiss couldn't help but inevitably return to her elegant state as she matched Isabella's stare. Even if she felt greatly embarrassed, especially from Davis's words that made her feel happy, she didn't want to appear weak in front of any woman, for the only person she allowed herself to be vulnerable was her man.
"Sect Master Lea Weiss, did you happen to seduce my emperor, or did he force himself upon you?"
"I seduced him."
Hearing Isabella's question, Lea Weiss answered without hesitation.
"I would like to say both-"
Isabella shot a look at Davis, who interfered, indicating him to be quiet. However, he saw that both Evelynn and Isabella didn't seem to be surprised. After hearing that Davis wanted to marry her, they were almost sure that he had done the deed with her, and sensing the emotions Lea Weiss directed at him, Isabella could tell that she wanted him too.
"Honestly, you should know that we're all one group. I left my empire to become his third wife. Can you do the same, leave the Burning Phoenix Ridge behind to become one of his wives?"
Lea Weiss narrowed her eyes as she shook her head, "No."
Isabella raised her brows, "What's your reason?"
"I can't betray the sect that brought me to this level." Lea Weiss's expression appeared solemn, "That's why we already reached a conclusion that I will still look after my sect but prioritize it the least."
"Mhm… not bad." Isabella looked away and glanced at the mass exodus below in the valley, "I admire your thoughts. However, if you think you can come inside our home, become close with Davis, and leave just because you feel like it, I'll be the first to sever your neck."
Lea Weiss narrowed her eyes with discontent, "Ridiculous. You're going too far with your words and imagination."
She was trying to be polite, but the other party was already threatening her?
"Shameless woman. Do I have to remind your age? Even if Davis were a hundred times older, he would not be your age."
"…!"
Lea Weiss clenched her teeth as her fists trembled. However, she didn't lash out but merely shot a death stare at Isabella, who matched her gaze equally and moved her lips.
"What makes you think you deserve him?"
"You're just lucky." Lea Weiss didn't answer as she forced a smile, "You're from the Forsaken Phoenix Realm, where the talent of the people is sub-par at best, not to mention it was our people who managed to get in first but turned traitorous, wanting to monopolize the Immortal Inheritance. Nevertheless, if I had attained the Immortal Inheritance, I would already be an immortal at your age."
"Heh!" Isabella sneered, "Luck is also a part of strength."
"On that note, aren't I lucky for obtaining Davis?"
Lea Weiss raised her brows with equal tenacity, causing Isabella's eyes to flash.
"No, you're despicable."
"Davis, is this your Earth Dragon Queen?" Lea Weiss turned to look at Davis as she appeared to be no longer willing to talk, "I'm disappointed by her character."
Davis looked at these two prideful women grab each other's throats with an agape mouth. Wouldn't his little empire be choked to death if it truly went like this for some more time?
"Isabella, your usual tactics of trying to measure a person's character through blatant provocation wouldn't work because she's even more prideful than you and wouldn't like to give in..."
Davis sighed while Lea Weiss's eyes narrowed. She turned to look at Isabella, who then shot a dazzling smile at her.
"I truly admire your character, Lea. I'm also thankful that you're with us as strong women are more attractive to me. However, I'm also worried because your experiences are vast and different from ours. Honestly, I'm scared to accept you as one of us that I had no choice but to provoke you and see how you would answer them back. Although this test doesn't have fixed answers, I just should not feel, 'Ah, this person is not right for us.', for me to accept you."
Despite Isabella's explanation, Lea Weiss looked unamused as she moved her lips.
"And you think you have the right to test me?"
"I'm his third wife." Isabella raised her brows, "What do you think?"
Lea Weiss calmed, feeling that it had been a long while since someone dared to test her.
"I don't need to gain your approval. I only need Shirley's and his first wife'..."
She turned to look at the Hex Demoness, who still kept her silence, and as far as she knew, as long as the first wife accepted her, there wouldn't be a need for her, a woman who came later to earn the approval of others.
"I still think you're misunderstanding something...."
However, Isabella shot a wry smile at her.
"We're all the same."
"Who said that?" Lea Weiss narrowed her eyes.
"He did."
Isabella pointed at Davis, causing Lea Weiss to turn to look at him.
"Indeed." Davis nodded as he walked towards her, "Maybe you were not listening back then when you screamed at me, saying that I'm a heartless idiot and rushed past me, but I did say that I fear that you would look down on my women for their weaknesses and inadequate cultivation base."
Lea Weiss's expression became crimson as she shook her head, "No, I wouldn't look down on them as I'm going to have to live with them, but still, isn't strength-"
"Strength, beauty, and status." Davis cut her short, "This all comes second after you become mine, for I wish to treat you all the same, and I strive to do it as far as I can, as foolishly as possible so that there is little to no discrimination in my little empire. You understand what I'm trying to achieve?"
"That's…" Lea Weiss blinked, "... not possible..."
"Precisely."
Looking at him nod that it was a matter of fact, Lea Weiss was absolutely confused.
Did he want to treat them all the same or not? Which was it?
In this kind of relationship, it was inevitable that cat-fights would break out if there wasn't a hierarchy that withheld them all in their place. She was even willing to come under the rule of the first wife and Shirley so that she doesn't trouble Davis, but he stated that she was equal to them?
She couldn't understand.
"Come, let's go back together and introduce you."
"…"
Isabella boldly took her hand and looked into her eyes, causing Lea Weiss to look past the previous friction she had with her. Still, she bitingly shook her head.
"I want to go back to my sect first and take care of unfinished things."
"Sure, Nadia is still there..."
Isabella giggled while Lea Weiss became taken aback but relaxed at the same time.
She thought that they would come at her with more hostility for none other than the reason that she was stronger than them and had more chances to gain Davis's favor than them due to her talent to grow along with him, but they welcomed her?
At least, Isabella seemed fine and even approving of her, but what about the first wife who still stayed quiet?
She didn't know.
Nevertheless, two soft hands grabbed her hands when she wanted to go back to Davis's side.
"Come, you should fly with us since we don't know you and want to know more about you."
Isabella insisted while holding both of Lea Weiss's hands.
Lea Weiss thought for a moment before she nodded at Isabella.
"Alright~"
They left for the Burning Phoenix Ridge as they flew away, not waiting for him as though it was a punishment for him.
Davis looked at them, specifically Isabella, as he inwardly sighed. He wondered why she always made herself look like the villainess to test others and couldn't adopt a more soft approach, but more than that, he deeply appreciated her taking the initiative to do these things when she had no reason to do so and could just purely concentrate on him and cultivate.
Essentially, Isabella wasn't the type to be mingling with people, but he also wondered if it was because they were two of a kind, the same prideful existences that they hit it off together, seemingly approving of each other.
After all, if it were not for their prideful attitudes that they approved of, Isabella would've probably died in Lea Weiss's Heart Demon Tribulation instead of dying along with the others and having sole ownership of him in her delusions.
