Chapter 3662 Reconciliation?
The flying boat carrying Davis and Stella dashed through valleys, crossed rivers, and flew past mountains. He could use Stella's power to quickly make it to the destination but he took it slow, knowing that it wouldn't do any good to make haste when he could use this time to talk to Stella.
Still, he didn't get distracted and maintained focus as his soul sense spread outside, covering a few tens of kilometers. Then again, he wasn't that focused on surveying everything. That would drain his mental capacity.
Instead, he simply inscribed [High Stage Immortal Emperor Passing Through, Don't Disturb] below the flying boat and even the sides, so no matter who attacked, they would know there would be consequences.
Of course, they could simply think someone was trying to hoodwink them and still attack. In that case, Davis couldn't be bothered to reason with them. They gambled on whether there was an Immortal Emperor in the flying boat or not, so in his perspective, they would simply face the consequences for the most part.
Nonetheless, he took a look at the map once again and changed directions as there was a mountain that was too tall for him to cross. The path he had to take was also drawn for him.
'The Dragon Alliance's intelligence network couldn't be underestimated…'
Davis thought. He wasn't surprised as they had more personnel and their range was far more wider than what Black Claymore possesses. The Black Claymore is a newly established intelligence network and had far more potential to grow but then again, he wouldn't be here for long and neither would Mingzhi, so it would be disbanded soon.
'Well, I'll just let Mingzhi create one in the true immortal world again…'
Davis chuckled. It seems like Mingzhi was going to suffer a lot under him in a lot of ways.
"You finally smiled~"
Stella leaned before his face and smiled.
"Hmm. Really?"
Davis blinked. He was sure he smiled a lot of times after he left his city, even while talking with Stella. "This one seemed like you were relieved. Am I right? Am I reading your emotions correctly?"
"…"
Davis paused at her curious expression before he nodded, "Perhaps you are right. I was able to punish people who insulted Isabella, and I'll let you know that I don't take insults towards my wives lightly."
"Oh? Does that mean you will be angry with me as well?"
Davis could see her taking this conversation somewhere, causing him to reach out his hand and violently ruffle her shimmering purple hair that glittered like stars.
"Ah~"
"Even if you aren't my woman, you are also family. I hate it when people insult the people I love, including you, so rest assured."
Stella reeled back, escaping from his grasp before she looked at him with a pout. Her hair was all messy right now, but she let out a smirk, grasping his meaning. It meant he wouldn't abandon her even if she turned out to be useless.
Her comparatively slow cultivation pace gave her some insecurities, but now, she was starting to feel more confident.
But then, her face wilted.
She lowered her head, causing Davis to wonder what now.
Did leaving her mother still cause her some problems in her heart? Or did she want to continue the kiss that failed?
But Davis remembered kissing her just as the flying boat flipped.
Although it happened for less than a second, it would still constitute as a kiss.
"I know you wouldn't like me talking about this, but is there any chance you and mother's master can make out- I mean, makeup! Forget about the differences and manage to reconcile…"
Stella gulped, unable to believe what she had just said as she thought about a lot on what to say but ended up saying something else. Nonetheless, she managed to get her thoughts across and held her breath, waiting for his answer.
"…"
Davis imagined that he would rather hear about that kiss than get into that topic. He looked away, causing Stella to bite her lips.
Was there truly no chance Saintess Lunaria and Davis could reconcile?
"Stella, how much do you know?"
"I- I know that Saintess Lunaria harmed you thinking that you have gone berserk from being possessed by some kind of powerful apex treasure… After all, you tugged the souls of everyone present in the First Haven World and even some isolated worlds… but mother also said the reason they trapped you was to dispel the possession by killing you since Saintess Lunaria knew you could revive through Everlight or even by yourself…"
Stella hesitantly spoke, her voice soft as she kept an eye on his expression but she saw him smile.
"You're right. They haven't explained it, but I know Lunaria's actions were also partly for my sake."
"Then-"
"I know-"
Davis quickly interrupted, "I know Lunaria did it to save me, but I don't know what gives her the right to kill me. That is the right I have given to my wives and not allies or anyone else. I wouldn't have been the slightest bit offended if Evelynn stabbed me and caused me to die and revive, as she has the duty to not let me go astray. But Lunaria-"
Davis's lips curled into one of derision before he shook his head, "I don't care about her reasons since I have not given her such a right."
"Woah, big brother is arrogant."
Stella exclaimed. She didn't think his arrogance extended up that as Saintess Lunaria's prowess was simply too high that it would put her up on par with an Empyrean, something that Davis shouldn't be able to defeat at his current state in her eyes.
Therefore, why would it matter if he gave her the right or not? Wouldn't Saintess Lunaria simply force him to do her bidding?
"Took you too long to tell that." Davis pursed his lips, "My arrogance is kept locked deep in my heart unless someone wants to strut theirs off in front of me, and there are certain occasions where it slips off like now. Perhaps my true soul, which considers itself a supreme entity, has taken offense to that action. Either way, the arrogance stemming from my soul seeps in my bones, and my flesh is nothing but a layer of humbleness present to conceal it."
"…"
Stella stared at him with her lips apart.
"Are you disappointed?" Davis asked with one of his brows raised.
However, Stella's smile turned bright.
"No, I can expect my human to surpass mother's master at this rate. I'm very happy…"
She brought her hands to her bosoms and giggled, looking excited and low-key mischievous.
"…"
Davis blinked as he didn't expect this little tree to have such an ambition.
'No- rather than an ambition, I guess she's simply proud of what she owns… which is me…'
He shook his head, "In any case, reconciliation is possible, but I haven't heard a sincere apology from Lunaria. I guess she thinks what she did is right. No- objectively speaking, the way she went about it is flawless except for hearing the reason straight from me and an untimely misunderstanding, but ultimately, I am my own person, and I'm pissed beyond compare that she backstabbed me. After all, the last ally I expected to backstab me was a Saintess beloved by all."
"… I apologize in her stead."
Stella looked guilty, as though she did that to him, causing him to reach out his hand and ruffle her hair again.
"Ah~"
Stella reeled back and pouted again.
She narrowed her eyes and glared at him with a not-so-threatening gaze, causing him to laugh in a restrained manner.
"Don't worry. I'm not in a position where I can harm Lunaria, and she knows it too. Besides, I would love to see you be together with your mother again. I will try to make it happen."
Davis assured Stella, causing her pout to recede before she nodded with a cheeky smile.
"I look forward to the day where we can sit beside each other, me with you and my mother with her master. That'd be my vision of a happy family…"
"Oh, I don't see Evelynn and the others there."
"Ahh… I meant them too!~"
"Haha."
Looking at Stella, who panicked as though she was going to cry, Davis laughed. He stood up and patted his robe, "Alright, we're here."
Stella ran to the edge and looked down, making her blink as she saw nothing but a vast ocean covering the entire surface as far as she could see.
Was the Soul-Devouring Blood Vulture Clan supposed to be located here?
"I imagined they would be in some mountain cave or something…"
Stella commented, causing Davis to appear beside her and pat her head, this time softly, as he combed her hair with his fingers, tidying her messy strands up.
"Well, you're half right as Grand Elder Kirana Rocksunder said that their mini realm is in some underground sea cave deep inside the ocean."
Stella raised her brows in response, "It's no wonder they managed to avoid being found by the people of the First Haven World. However, once I know the general location, they can't hide from yours truly, a Void Dust Tree~ Hehehe~"
She cackled, jumping into the ocean.
Davis saw her fall of her own accord before a giant magical sea beast jumped out of the ocean and swallowed her in one big gulp before diving back into the ocean.
"…"
