Chapter 2057: Chancing Upon
Surprisingly, it seemed that they were not taken away by Valley Master Jade Aurora, considering that she could've taken them and sold their organs and parts for a high price, not to mention that even antidotes could be made for their poison with this much of carcasses to experiment on.
This was a conflicting point Davis couldn't understand. However, it was rather clear that Valley Master Jade Aurora was searching for a new way out, perhaps believing that one of these rifts might lead to outside, but every time she stumbled into a new rift, she was unlucky, being bombarded by these huge critters.
Her prowess was at the level above Peak-Level Ninth Stage. Otherwise, she wouldn't have defeated so many of them, and since her prowess was at that level, she shouldn't have been injured, but since she was, it most likely meant that she was already exhausted.
Perhaps, the mindless savage beast that possessed her robe's fabric was the one who attacked her sneakily, causing her to be poisoned. Considering that they were already exhausted when they were chased inside by the Poison Rift Valley's remnants, it was inevitable that they would meet demise sooner or later, so to have survived this long in a state of exhaustion was alone tantamount to their strength and survivability.
Thinking of what Valley Master Jade Aurora's intention could be in leaving Ivy Aries alone where danger could befall her, he arrived before the third and final rift that was to the north. Fortunately, Valley Master Jade Aurora remembered the location of the rifts well. Otherwise, he would be forced to check the seven rifts in this space alone and three more back in the previous rift.
It could be said that these rifts reminded Davis of the complex dungeons or mazes that could be seen in games. He slightly chortled, took a step forward with Evelynn, and arrived at the other side, followed by Myria.
However, Davis and Evelynn became shocked to see the five hundred-meter-tall spider in front of them, towering with an ominous gaze. It was an eight-legged spider with a purplish-obsidian body. There were two sinister eyes on its head, two sharp venomous fangs, and two rows of jagged teeth adorning its mouth. However, most of the outer structure looked as though they were damaged, while there was also a strange pattern on its forehead that seemed to be closed.
Evelynn even felt shook, her blood boiling in reverence, almost wanting her to kneel to it.
"This…"
"It's a palace constructed in the form of a spider?"
"I see. An inheritance palace of the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid, huh? Not bad. Someone here is rather lucky..."
Evelynn's lips trembled, and Davis blinked as he realized that the five-hundred-meter-tall spider was a building, while Myria possessed an amused expression on her face as she turned to look at Evelynn.
Her words caused Davis and Evelynn to be shocked, although the latter had already surmised that it could be the case after witnessing the building and feeling her blood boil as though she wanted it. She had this vague feeling that she was feeling warmer as she neared this rift space, but now, she understood why.
It was her calling.
On the other hand, Davis had no idea of what the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid looked like, so he only recognized this spider's image after being told by Myria. Its color certainly did resemble Evelynn's purple body after her transformation to Fey.
*Bzzz!~*
Mindless savage beasts began surging towards them in droves, attracting their attention.
Davis unceremoniously waved his hand as death energy spread out, engulfing them all, a hundred of them at Peak-Level Ninth Stage, which was terrifying. However, nothing happened to them under the assault of his death energy.
"Hmm? No souls?"
Davis blinked before he recognized that they were actual energy lifeforms, just like the human figures that had been summoned to make them battle and measure their strength during trials.
'So it's truly an inheritance site?'
Davis's eyes widened in glee, feeling that he should definitely obtain this sight for Evelynn. However, he stayed his hand, thinking for a moment before he turned towards Evelynn.
"Evelynn, you take care of them."
Evelynn understood the gist of his words and disappeared, jumping into the swarm of mindless savage beasts by herself. On the other hand, Myria merely stayed and watched the show.
Davis used his soul sense to search this rift space only to come up with nothing, but he had only managed to sense the outskirts because a powerful barrier was not letting his soul sense penetrate the inheritance palace, which made him blink.
According to Valley Master Jade Aurora, this rift space should be where Ivy Aries should be present, but she wasn't here, causing him to search with his eyes, but it was so dim that he couldn't see clearly. With so many energy lifeforms running around here, was Ivy Aries killed?
He took a step forward and flew towards the inheritance palace and chanced upon a blood writing on an arch with eight pillars but a single triangle-like structure on the elevated base.
[Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Immortal Inheritance]
[Exchange your main spatial ring for entry if you can't defeat the first trial. Beware, karma doesn't play, and hex doesn't forgive.]
He blinked, turning to look at the pillar below where there was a small compartment where a spatial ring could be inserted, and then, he finally noticed inside the barrier of the inheritance palace was a collapsed Ivy Aries. He could see her breathing even from here, comprehending that she was still alive.
'So that's what had happened. The spatial ring on Valley Master Jade Aurora's hand is probably empty because they sought refugee here from the swarm of the mindless savage beasts in the previous rifts and also here. It was no wonder she was wearing a robe created from her martial energy, which then disappeared after she completely exhausted herself...'
Davis felt like he understood a bit, but a few things still didn't make sense to him. For example, why did Valley Master Jade Aurora leave a sleeping, or rather, a fainted Ivy Aries alone in this place?
'Well, I will know soon once one of them wakes up.'
Davis smiled as he turned to look towards Evelynn, thinking that saving the two damsels in distress was a mission accomplished matter. His thoughts were now all on Evelynn clearing this first trial written according to the arch of this inheritance palace.
Evelynn leaped from one place to another, her four deadly scythes elongating from her back, hacking whatever dared to come her way. Only her two fine legs were moving while she kept her hands free as though she was on a stroll. To her, these Peak-Level Ninth Stage energy lifeforms were of no threat. Every time the purple flash of her scythes erupted, she cleanly hacked their heads, causing them to disappear.
However, her attacks strangely didn't seem to create fissures in space, meaning that despite the instability of this space, it was stronger than the space outside.
Evelynn cleaned the area in a matter of minutes as the surrounding energy that had spread into the air as a result of the energy lifeforms being defeated coalesced into one ray of dark light and shot towards her.
She didn't resist, but there was a fair amount of caution in her heart as she saw the incoming energy ray of darkness with a purple sheen. It fell on her right hand, tracing to the center of her palm before it embedded into the mark of a purple spider.
