"Yes. I think so too. If you don't have any objections, I'll send my people to the Genie Fief right now,"
Gilbert said.
Elder Leticia nodded eagerly. Her silence was agreement enough.
After that, Gilbert called for a servant and told him to run to the Genie Fief and deliver a message. At
the same time, he whispered to more of his people and ordered them to surround the guest hall where
Gloria lived.
At first, Gloria expected Gilbert to come straight to her, but a whole day had passed and he still hadn't
shown up, so she grew confused.
"My Lady, I have some bad news!" Suddenly, Purple burst through the door.
"What's wrong?" Gloria asked, turning to face her with her beautiful eyes narrowed.
"Someone just stopped me outside. He said that the leader has ordered us to stay in. And I just saw a
bunch of masters surrounding our house," Purple replied, looking wary.
"Gilbert must be trying to take the engagement covenant by force," Gloria assumed.
"What should we do? Should we attack them?" Purple stood straight like she was ready to fight.
"No. We should just wait for a while. Maybe they are just worried we will try and escape." Gloria waved
her hand nonchalantly.
Another day crawled by and Gilbert was still nowhere to be seen. The guest hall was also still
surrounded.
"It looks like Gilbert wants to
put me under house arrest. He might have sent someone to look for my father." Gloria knew that she
had underestimated Gilbert. He might not want to hurt her but that wouldn't stop him from trapping her
inside the Ghost Fief.
If her father were to learn about what she had done in the Ghost Fief, he would probably ask her to
hand over the engagement covenant immediately. That would mean that all her efforts would be in vain
and she would have to return to the Genie Fief with nothing.
"Should I sneak out and bring reinforcements from the Genie Fief to help us?" Purple asked, beginning
to feel antsy from being trapped inside.
"You won't get there and back fast enough. Besides, I'm the one who made a mistake. My father will
ask me to hand over the engagement covenant if we go to him. I don't want my plan to fail..." Above all
else, Gloria didn't want all of her efforts to be flushed down the toilet. She had worked too hard.
"Then what should we do?"
"It looks like I have to ask my fiance for help." Gloria decided that her back-up plan would work just
fine.
"Will he help us?" Purple asked in a doubtful voice.
"Tonight, I will try to attract the attention of the guards. Once I've done that, you can sneak out and find
the Godly Genius of the Ghost Fief. He will think of a way to save us. Tell him that if he can do it, I will
return the engagement covenant to him," Gloria answered, ignoring her uncertainty.
"Okay." Purple nodded.
That evening, as soon as she had finished her dinner that had been sent by the servant, Gloria walked
out of the guest hall alone. The moment that she reached the outer door of the guest hall, two officials
that were at the Emperor Realm appeared and blocked her path.
"We're sorry. We have orders from our leader to not let you out," one of them said politely, cupping his
hands.
"Can't I just take a walk?" Gloria's beautiful eyes twinkled and an attractive smile spread on her cheeks.
Within seconds, the two officials and some other members behind them couldn't take their eyes off of
her.
"We can't disobey the order of our leader." However, the officials had a stronger willpower than she had
thought and not long after, they came to their senses.
"If you don't trust me, then you can follow me..." Ignoring the two officials, Gloria walked straight out of
the door of the guest hall. The two officials exchanged a glance and followed her. A few other people
trailed on their heels.
Accompanied by so many people, Gloria strolled around the leader's whole mansion.
Her plan had worked. The guest hall was no longer guarded. A figure in red rushed out of it at an
extremely fast speed and silently escaped into the darkness.
Before long, the figure had reached the outside the Ghost Palace.
However, the moment she stepped into the Ghost Palace, her entire body froze like she was trapped in
a block of ice.
"It's so late. Why is there a rat in my house?" Then, the old voice continued, "Oh, it's not a rat. It's a
beauty!"
Confused, Purple looked around and saw a strange, old man standing beside her. Immediately, her
face turned murderous and she demanded, "Who are you?"
"I'd like to know the same thing. Why are you breaking into my Ghost Palace in the middle of the
night?" Esteban's eyes raked over Purple and he made a rough guess at her identity.
"I'm here because I need to speak to the Godly Genius of the Ghost Fief," Purple explained.
"Are you looking for my disciple? Are you the Godly Genius of the Genie Fief? You are really
beautiful..." He nodded with eagerness flashing in his eyes.
"I am not!" Purple snorted.
"No? What a pity. I guess you can be an experimental subject for me instead. I'm in need of one for a
living body experiment I've been dying to try." Esteban rubbed his hands and laughed manically.
Purple shuddered with fear.
"Old man, don't frighten her." A voice rang out, interrupting them.
Rocky was not surprised to see Purple there.
"Humph. Do you think you are the only one who is good at being merciful towards women?" Esteban
muttered. After saying that, he walked towards the side door.
Rocky approached Purple and presented her with a bottle. He held it under her nose and she inhaled
the sweet aroma that wafted into her nostrils. Suddenly, her limbs relaxed and she could move again.
"What happened to me just now?" Purple asked.
"Instead of coming in from the main door, you entered from the eaves. The eaves have been tainted
with the gastrodia fragrance. Even a small whiff will paralyze you for a while," Rocky explained.
"It is so powerful!" Purple stared at Rocky in shock. She was at the Emperor Realm, yet she had been
poisoned without realizing it.
"What's up?" Rocky asked her, wondering why she had come.
"Lady Gloria sent me here..."
"Does she need me to help her?" Rocky raised his eyebrows.
"How did you know?" Again, Purple was full of surprise.
"She thought she was smart enough to destroy my engagement with the Godly Genius of the Flower
Fief, but she didn't realize the position she was putting herself in. If I'm right, Gilbert must have put her
under house arrest." Rocky knew Gilbert well enough that he understood his inner workings. He had
suspected that house arrest would be Gloria's punishment from the moment she tried to come between
Rocky and his engagement.
"You're right. She asked me to look for you and tell you to save us." Purple nodded in a hurry.
"Do you think I will help you?" Rocky smiled.
"I don't think so, but she thinks you will..." Purple answered honestly.
"Okay." Rocky marveled at Gloria's thought process. He would go and save her. However, he would do
it not because of the engagement covenant. He wanted to secretly make her his ally so that he could
have an advantage during the battle of the Godly Geniuses. He knew that open alliances were boring.
If two people allied secretly and delivered a fatal blow to an unsuspecting opponent, it would be
terrifying. Thus, Rocky would partner up with Gloria to make himself more formidable.
