Uriel was known as the youngest elder in the entire Sword Spirit Sect. He was very talented and was
just a step away from cultivating and brewing the Imperial Soul. Of course, back in his days, he was
also one of the successful members who had obtained a martial spirit from the Martial Spirit Graveyard.
After hearing his instructions, everyone nodded in agreement.
"Miguel, the three of you should try your best not to make any unnecessary movements. Save your
energy and be prepared when you have to merge with the martial spirit. After all, it's going to be hard to
say who it will recognize as its master," Uriel strictly told Miguel.
"Yes, sir. I understand," Miguel replied, cupping his hands towards the elder. He quickly cast a glance
towards Rocky while showing a hint of gloom on his face.
Soon enough, their team headed directly for the Heavenly Ravine Valley.
The Martial Spirit Graveyard was actually located in the depths of the valley. Within this area, there
were many natural-born spiritual beasts, but most of them were difficult to capture. Moreover, these
beasts usually moved in groups, so a lot of effort and great strength would be needed just to capture
one of them. Besides, the Sword Spirit Sect had an ancestral doctrine, stating that its members were
prohibited from capturing the spiritual beasts in the valley without permission. The main reason for that
was because the valley functioned as a natural barrier to protect the Martial Spirit Graveyard in case
intruders would try to sneak in.
About half a day later, the team walked out of a jungle and entered a desert-like area. Although the
area looked pretty much desolate, it gave off an ominous atmosphere. The rocks were rugged, and
there were huge snake-like beast shadows moving just beneath the ground. Furthermore, there were
several beast bones scattered all around, indicating the presence of powerful and savage creatures.
"Everyone, this is a very dangerous area. Be careful and observe your surroundings!" Uriel briefly
turned to the team members and warned them.
However, even before his voice faded, the ground beneath his feet began to tremble, and it gradually
grew more violent as if a massive earthquake was about to ensue.
"Watch out! It’s coming from under us!" Uriel shouted as he sensed a vicious spiritual aura was coming
from beneath the ground.
At the same time, Rocky pulled Tessa and Ramon to quickly retreat a few steps back.
Boom!
A moment later, just below the ground where they stood, a huge sand-formed column drilled out and
soared into the sky. Then, a beast shadow that looked like a giant centipede emerged before them. It
had a long tail that looked like a scorpion’s and it instantly waved in the air, sweeping directly towards
them. It emitted a wave of spiritual power that turned into sharp energy that tried to pour on them. From
what they perceived, its savage aura that immediately filled the surroundings should be at the low level
of the King Realm.
Seeing that the spiritual beast that suddenly attacked them was at the King Realm, Uriel shook his
head lightly and wore a serious expression. He never expected that they would have such bad luck
before they could even reach the graveyard. Although there were indeed many spiritual beasts at this
level in the valley, they only usually appeared at the depths of the valley.
With Uriel’s strength, dealing with a spiritual beast at the level of the King Realm shouldn’t be a tough
task. However, he would not be able to move that freely since he had to protect his companions before
he could focus on the beast. So, he quickly unleashed his spiritual power to form a spiritual shield that
would protect the rest of the group.
With this, the heavy strikes of the centipede-like spiritual beast were blocked off by the elder’s spiritual
shield. The problem was that when the beast saw this, it might have been pissed off, so it directly
rushed towards the spiritual shield and used its humongous body to smack it.
Because of this, the spiritual shield received a huge impact and shook wildly. Although Uriel was
indeed very powerful, the strength of a spiritual beast at the King Realm was usually stronger than spirit
warriors at the same realm. Therefore, it was common knowledge that even warriors at the King Realm
would often avoid confronting spiritual beasts at the King Realm whenever they spotted one.
Under the intense rampaging of the spiritual beast, it was obvious that the spiritual shield wouldn't hold
out for long.
"This centipede is widely known for its magnanimous strength. I didn’t expect that this would be the one
to appear here. I assume that a natural ethereal crystal should have been formed within its body." For a
while, Uriel thought of a plan on how they should deal with the beast. Then, he turned towards Rocky
and the rest of the team and said, "In addition to these three disciples, the rest of the warriors at the
King Realm will join hands to kill this centipede together. Consider this task to be a part of your training.
Don’t worry. I have you covered. Lastly, whoever inflicts the final strike and kill the beast for good shall
get the ethereal crystal in its body."
Hearing this, most of them let out a greedy smile. Even Xavier was also itching to have a piece of the
beast.
Rocky also seemed to be quite interested as the expression on his face gradually became a little
serious.
Then, except for Rocky, the other nine powerful warriors at the King Realm quickly rushed out and
attacked the giant centipede simultaneously.
Although it was supposed to be very powerful, the beast was restrained little by little due to the joint
assault of the warriors at the King Realm. Additionally, Uriel was looking after them so that they could
attack at will. Not long after, the giant centipede was suppressed and soon fell into a passive position.
Rocky also participated to take the beast down, but he didn't really exert much effort, knowing that the
others could already take care of it.
Just as the giant centipede was about to be killed by the team, a sudden violent vibration came from
the ground again. Before Uriel and the others could react, another giant centipede rushed out and
immediately pounced on them as if it was supporting the other one.
At the sight of the second spiritual beast, all of them didn’t dare to act rashly and hurriedly regrouped to
a safe distance.
Bang!
All of a sudden, the second giant centipede landed on the ground with a loud thud and positioned itself
in front of the first one, which was almost on the brink of death already. To their surprise, the second
giant centipede opened its huge and bloody mouth and began to devour the severely injured one. Uriel
and the others were rendered speechless and motionless as they witnessed a horrible sight.
"Don't let it devour its own kind! It will just increase its strength!" Uriel shouted as he regained his
senses. His face turned pale as if he knew that something devastating was about to happen.
The next moment, he took the lead and rushed towards the spiritual beast. He was immediately
followed by Xavier and the other warriors at the King Realm.
Unexpectedly, the devouring speed of the centipede was even faster than what Uriel had foreseen. The
moment they reached in front of the beast, it had already fully eaten the other one. Immediately after,
the spiritual light around its body flashed brightly, and its spiritual aura increased drastically, indicating
that its overall strength had become much stronger than before.
Then, the centipede let out a deafening roar. It actually contained a mighty spiritual power, making the
sound wave rather disastrous. In a flash, the ground exploded as the ferocious sound wave spread out.
At the sight of this, everyone pulled out, and not even Uriel could make a move. Right now, they were
being forced to stand back, not knowing how powerful this spiritual beast had really become.
Then, the giant centipede didn’t waste any time. It pounced on one of the warriors at the King Realm.
Seeing that the giant centipede was aggressively approaching him, this King Realm warrior dared not
to be careless, knowing that its current strength was supposed to be about twice or more of what they
had faced earlier. He immediately launched a defensive strike to resist it. However, he was taken aback
when his defense was effortlessly broken by the savage spiritual beast that directly pounced on him.
Caught off guard, the warrior was hit outright. The impact he received was so enormous that he flew
dozens of meters away. As he crashed on the ground, he spat out mouthfuls of blood.
Xavier and the other warriors at the King Realm looked at each other upon seeing what had happened
to their comrade. If this giant centipede was able to take down a warrior at the King Realm that easily,
they speculated that even if they joined hands, they might still not be able to resist its overbearing
attack.
At this point, even Uriel was at a loss. If they were just dealing with the first centipede, he was confident
that he could kill it in one go. But now, he perceived that the power of the second giant centipede,
which had devoured the first one, had already increased to the middle level of the King Realm.
Although his strength should still be sufficient to finish this beast off, he knew that it might take him a
while, and it wasn’t much of an efficient idea. After all, if he spent a lot of time fighting it off, they might
attract more spiritual beasts in the process, and that was the last thing that he wanted to happen.
Besides, their main goal for coming here was not to fight these beasts but to acquire the martial spirits.
"We have no choice. Let's retreat first!" Uriel ordered after careful consideration. He was well aware
that there was no sense in fighting for something that had no value.
