"Don't. I'm here to make a deal with you." Beverly snapped impatiently.
"Oh, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought the spiritual race would try to strike a deal with
us humans!" Rocky smiled devilishly.
"Just hear me out," Beverly persisted.
"Fine. What is it?" Rocky asked, curious as to how this was going to play out.
"Do you know why the spiritual race is after that Emperor Realm spiritual beast?" Beverly asked in a
level tone, eyeing Rocky carefully.
"I don't," Rocky said with a shrug. The truth was, he knew exactly why they were here--the spiritual
race was after the sacred weapon in the ruins, not the Emperor Realm spiritual beast.
"That beast is not ordinary--it's the Beast of Fire and Ice, which has lived on the mountain for hundreds
of years," Beverly explained. "It has been rumored that it is a direct descendant of the ancient
legendary beast. If we can get the Fire Pill and Ice Pill within its body, we will be able to obtain its
powers. Not only that, we will also gain command over thousands of beasts. This is why our
commander in chief has ordered us to come here--to hunt the beast and take its two pills. However, we
didn't expect to cross paths with you humans here." At this point, she rolled her eyes in exasperation,
as if the mere thought of humans made her blood boil.
"I see." Rocky scratched his chin, pretending to be deep in thought. However, he knew Beverly was
lying.
"So, in order to successfully complete this mission, I am willing to cooperate with your human army to
kill that beast. Once the beast is defeated, we can split the two pills between our races." So, this was
the deal she was offering.
"Sounds good, but will your commander in chief agree to that?" Rocky asked tentatively.
"The commander in chief didn't explicitly say she wanted both of the pills. Plus, with your human army
pestering us, it will be difficult for the spiritual race to deal with you and the beast at the same time. It's
better if we work together!" Beverly reasoned with a shrug.
"Then how sure are you that we will be able to kill that beast?" Rocky asked, brows knitted.
"Of course, I'm not 100% sure. After all, that beast is extremely powerful. Not to mention, it is protected
by the spiritual beast army. Like I said, if we cooperate, we will have a higher chance of winning!"
"How can I trust that the spiritual race won't go back on their word and attack us out of the blue? I can't
risk that!" Rocky exclaimed, pretending to briefly consider Beverly's proposal.
"I'm willing to swear on my own life that what I say is true. If my words prove false, I shall be struck by
lightning and die a horrible death..." Beverly placed her hand on her chest. Rocky knew she wasn't
lying about something in her story; after all, she needed the Beast of Fire and Ice dead in order to get
into the ruins. She was just using the beast as an excuse to get the human army to do the dirty work for
them.
Unbeknownst to her, Rocky already knew about the sacred weapon.
"I can tell you're being sincere. I will think it over," Rocky lied. He couldn't turn her down outright. He
needed to use Beverly's ignorance to his advantage.
"Then I'll wait for your decision." With that, Beverly nodded then leapt into the air and flew away.
"It seems the Beast of Fire and Ice and I need to have another talk," Rocky murmured. In the next
moment, he vanished into thin air.
A moment later, he appeared in front of the Beast of Fire and Ice's lair. The entrance to the lair was
littered with all kinds of spiritual beasts. However, Rocky managed to slip past them stealthily and
entered the lair with ease.
There, he found piles of yellowed beast skulls and bones on the ground, and some treasures like
luminous pearls on the top, making the whole place well-lit. Navigating his way through the lair, he
finally came across the Beast of Fire and Ice, who was dozing off in its nest.
But despite Rocky's stealthy approach, the beast sensed his presence almost immediately. It raised its
head abruptly and shouted, "Who's there? How dare you disturb my sleep?"
"Sir, please don't be angry!" Rocky calmly appeared in front of the beast, cupping his hands politely.
"It's you again! What are you doing here? Are you offering yourself as food?" Seeing that it was that
pesky little human again, the beast glared at Rocky coldly.
"I don't mind if you want to eat me, but please let me say my part first," Rocky requested humbly,
unfazed by the beast's flaring nostrils.
"Fine, you get one chance. If I find that you're talking nonsense, I'll gobble you up immediately." The
beast snorted impatiently, but secretly, it couldn't help but feel curious as to what Rocky had to say.
Rocky smiled gratefully. Then he relayed to the beast what Beverly had told him, with a little bit of
exaggeration here and there. The beast was enraged once it had gotten a picture of what was stirring
outside its lair.
"Just who do they think they are?" the beast growled scornfully.
"The spiritual race might seem insignificant in your eyes, but they've brought two Emperor Realm
warriors with them this time. Their strength can't be underestimated!" Rocky warned.
"They are still no match for me," the beast answered arrogantly.
"That's for sure, but the spiritual race may have also brought some treasures powerful enough to deal
with you, sir," Rocky said seriously. He knew that the spiritual race army wouldn't have come
unprepared this time.
The beast seemed to think what Rocky said was reasonable, but it could tell he didn't come here
simply out of kindness. "Since you've come to tell me these, then you must want something. Tell me!"
"Sir, you are so wise." Rocky's eyes flashed. "The reason why I'm here is to interfere with the spiritual
race's plan. So, since they've come to me to ask for our cooperation, I think this would be a good
opportunity to finally defeat them, once and for all. Of course, I'd need your help..."
"Why should I believe you? Maybe this is the trap you and the spiritual race set together." The beast
narrowed its eyes in suspicion.
"It's only normal you don't believe me, but this is my only chance to stop the spiritual race from
obtaining the sacred weapon. If they get their hands on the sacred weapon, it will be extremely
disadvantageous to our human race. That's why I'm doing everything I can to stop them," Rocky said,
his voice choking with emotion.
The beast lapsed into silence.
"Actually, I have a question. Could you answer it for me, sir?" Rocky asked suddenly, as though
something just occurred to him.
"You talk too much..." The beast glared at Rocky, but waited for him to ask the question.
"I have entered those ruins before. There, I found a record from something called the Star Divine Race.
I want to know if this sacred weapon has anything to do with this race," Rocky said straightforwardly.
"That's correct. That sacred weapon indeed belonged to the Star Divine Race. It's the most powerful
treasure that the race took with them when they fled their world," the beast explained.
"Is this Star Divine Race from the Star Divine World?" Rocky asked immediately, his eyes flashing
excitedly.
"How do you know about the Star Divine World?" The tone of the Beast of Fire and Ice immediately
became solemn. The Star Divine Race had long been extinct in this world, and no one should have
known that they came from the Star Divine World.
