"Once I learned that you had been captured by the powerful warriors of this world, I forced myself
inside to rescue you. The thing that I never saw coming was my divine power disappearing and not
being able to use it to find you. That's why it's taken so long. I've had to come up with other ways,"
Rocky explained briefly.
"Have you found Marcia and the others, Rocky?" Shirley asked, sitting up.
"Not yet. By the way, where is General Bryant?" Rocky asked, shaking his head. Now that he knew
Shirley was still alive, he assumed that Bryant was too.
"My grandfather is dead!" Shirley exclaimed in a sad voice, shocking Rocky.
"What? He died?!" This made no sense. Bryant was strong, so he should have been able to find a
foothold in this world. Honestly, he should have even been able to make a breakthrough.
"He died protecting me. I managed to escape, but I was seriously injured. After that, I lost my footing
and fell off a cliff." Pain painted over every surface of Shirley's face. Then, she told Rocky about their
experiences after they had been captured. The twists and turns sounded horrifying, especially the one
where Bryant sacrificed himself so that Shirley could run away from the Shura Race.
Unfortunately, Shirley had none of her memories once she fell off the cliff. Later, she was brought in by
the leader of a killer organization and cultivated into an assassin.
"So it's true. You are really a killer now?" Rocky had never expected a person as dignified as Shirley,
who was also once a genius spirit manipulator of the Holy Dragon Empire, to become a killer.
"Yes, I am." Shirley nodded.
"Okay. Then who hired you to kill me?" Rocky asked, still feeling slightly confused.
"I don't know. I just follow the orders I'm given," Shirley answered, shaking her head quickly.
"If I had to guess, I'd say it was Elliot." At the moment, Rocky couldn't think of anyone else who would
want him gone. But it still didn't make sense. How would Elliot know when to find an opening to kill
him?
As he thought of this, Rocky immediately understood what had happened. Obviously, Deputy
Commander Lin was involved in this too. There was no way it could just be a coincidence that he had
sent him into the swamp alone.
"Who is Elliot?" Shirley asked, frowning.
"He's nobody. But I guess I should thank him. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have found you, Shirley.
Don't you agree?" He smiled at Shirley and smiled.
"You are right." Shirley slowly returned the smile.
"Are you going to come back with me?" Rocky asked after a moment of silence. He didn't want Shirley
to be alone in this dangerous place.
"Go back to the army?" Shirley asked. She knew Rocky was working for the army because she had
followed him and his patrol all the way here.
"Of course, it's not safe here and you have no one," Rocky replied, nodding.
"I can't. My chief saved my life and she has been good to me ever since. Plus, we have a very large
intelligence network. Maybe we can use the information they have to look for Marcia and the others,"
Shirley said. In her mind, this was the better idea because it would be faster.
"Are you going to continue to be a killer?" Rocky's eyes narrowed.
"Yes. I think I like this job," Shirley said honestly.
"I'm not offended by your career choice. I'm just afraid that you'll be in danger. After all, being a killer is
not easy." Rocky was not disgusted with Shirley identifying as a killer. After all, they were no longer in
their original world. In order to survive, they had to start over and adapt to their unique situations.
However, killers had to constantly take risks and he didn't want her to get hurt.
"I will look out for myself. Don't worry about me!" Shirley had always been independent, but she felt
very moved that Rocky cared so much about her.
"But wait. You didn't kill me, so how can you return to your chief? What will you say to her?" Rocky
asked, realizing her new dilemma.
"I'll be honest with my chief. I will tell her that I've regained my memories and stumbled across the man
that I love. She'll understand and I won't be in any trouble," Shirley said, smiling shyly. Impressively,
she had already come up with an excuse.
Rocky couldn't stop the laugh from bursting through his lips.
"Okay. Then I'll head back to report this to my chief now. But I'll be coming to see you soon," Shirley
said. After sharing their goodbyes, Shirley summoned her favorite beast from the Magic Spiritual Space
and flew away.
After walking for a while, Rocky found the patrol and reported to Deputy Commander Lin.
Seeing Rocky walk out of the Venomous Snake Swamp safe and sound caused shock and confusion
to wash over Deputy Commander Lin. He wondered whether Elliot had made his move or not. Why
was Rocky still alive?
Although Rocky knew that Deputy Commander Lin was involved in the assassination plot, he didn't
plan on doing anything to punish him for it. Firstly, they were still on patrol. Secondly, if it weren't for his
plan, he wouldn't have found Shirley. For the time being, he would allow it to slide and he wouldn't hold
any grudges.
Once everyone was ready, Rocky guided Deputy Commander Lin and the patrol team through the
Venomous Snake Swamp and they continued to move towards the Panta Mountain.
Two days later, they reached it and they could see spiritual beasts everywhere. Chills traveled up and
down their spines.
In order to avoid disturbing them and causing conflict, Deputy Commander Lin led the team in a wide
circle around them.
Of course, it was inevitable that they would encounter some spiritual beasts that would attack them, but
Rocky helped them to avoid the worst of it.
This went on for a few days while the patrol team successfully searched the area surrounding the
Panta Mountain. After confirming that there was no trace of the spiritual race's troops, they were ready
to go back to the camp.
However, a very terrible storm was rolling in above their heads, so they were forced to take shelter in a
grotto in the mountain region.
This grotto was called the Bewitching Grotto. Legend informed them that when human beings entered
this grotto, they would talk nonsense and appear to be crazy. Some of them would even disappear.
Therefore, it was too dangerous for ordinary humans to enter the Bewitching Grotto. Unfortunately, they
had to take the risk in order to avoid the storm.
After entering the Bewitching Grotto, the patrol team was distributed into the large and small caves
where there were no rain.
They spent the whole night crouched and hidden.
The storm didn't let up until daylight arrived.
When Deputy Commander Lin called the patrol team over, he realized that over a hundred spirit
warriors and soldiers were missing, including Kye.
"Where did all our men go?" Deputy Commander Lin frowned, looking around.
"Is the rumor about the Bewitching Grotto true?" As they waited for the small chance that the others
would show up, some of the soldiers began to whisper words of fear.
Before long, the whole patrol was in an uproar.
Although Deputy Commander Lin was also worried, it was his responsibility to stabilize the morale of
the army. So he said, "Don't panic. Maybe they didn't hear the bugle call."
Then, he turned to Basil and ordered in a low voice, "Captain Basil, please collect a group of spirit
warriors and look for the missing soldiers."
"Yes, Deputy Commander Lin."
Rocky nodded and quickly gathered his men. Then he began searching the caves for as far as he
could see.
