Kye, whose eyes were closed as he reveled in the service of his two new soldiers, felt a wave of
unusually strong spiritual power approaching. He immediately opened his eyes and saw Rocky walking
towards him. He sat straight up and swiftly summoned a stream of intense spiritual power which he
directed towards Rocky.
The other spirit warriors jeered on. They presumed that Rocky was looking for trouble and that he
would suffer greatly soon.
But just as Kye let go of his attack, he suddenly felt something wrong. Once his attack reached Rocky,
it just disappeared like a handful of sand thrown into the depths of the ocean. Kye was taken aback. He
was a warrior at the middle stage of the Spiritual Infant, which made him a standout in the army.
However, Rocky managed to thwart his power. This confirmed that he was probably stronger than him.
“Who are you? What are you up to? Why did you break into the camp of the spirit warriors?” Kye didn’t
dare to underestimate Rocky. Instead, he feigned his uncertainty by acting like a deer in the headlights.
“Don’t be rude to him, Captain Kye. He’s…” Gage feared that Kye would offend Rocky and tried to cut
in at once.
But Rocky cut him off first. “It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that you and your lazy team
members fail daily to make any form of progress. You have failed as a captain and even used your
power to abuse the recruits. This is against the law. Do you honestly think you’re still qualified to be the
captain?”
Kye’s face fell as Rocky listed all his crimes. No one had ever dared to challenge his authority like that
in the Tiger Whisker Pass before.
Meanwhile, the other spirit warriors were also insulted by Rocky’s comments and immediately
surrounded him.
“It’s not your place to tell me whether I’m qualified to be the captain or not. Who gave you the right to
question my authority? Do you have a death wish?” Kye shouted, his face twisted in fury.
Gage broke into a cold sweat once he realized that the situation had gotten out of control. But it wasn’t
Rocky that he was worried about, but Kye and his subordinates. He knew Rocky was much stronger.
He worried that he would take it too far and the entire spirit warrior team would suffer.
“Don’t you have an announcement to make, Gage?” Rocky asked as he looked back.
Gage was still in shock but immediately began to understand why Rocky intentionally provoked Kye.
Anyone appointed to a new position would initiate many changes, and Rocky made sure that he would
establish credibility through this.
Gage swallowed and then announced cautiously, “Well, Captain Kye, the commander just issued an
order. Starting immediately, Basil will take up the post of captain. All the spirit warriors of the supporting
troop will be under his lead.”
“What?” Blue veins popped out of Kye’s temples. It all happened so fast as if he was struck by a
lightning bolt out of the blue.
Upon hearing this, the other team members looked just as dumbfounded. Kye’s demotion came as a
huge surprise to everyone.
“Well, are you going to hold a welcome ceremony for your new captain?” Rocky directly gazed at the
spirit warriors surrounding him.
The warriors glanced at each other. Although Kye was still their leader in their eyes, they couldn’t
disobey any order from the commander nor could they attack their new leader. So they nodded and
then retreated.
“Kye, you may bring up any objections or complaints you have to the commander. Otherwise, all the
members of this team including you will obey my every order and do whatever I ask of you. Anyone
who opposes this will be immediately punished according to the law!” Rocky announced quickly,
leaving Kye with no chance to oppose or show off.
Kye shot Rocky a venomous glare, but he knew that he needed to obey all military orders. Since the
commander gave the order, there was no chance of him holding on to his position of captain. On the
other hand, the man standing in front of him was anything but weak. Setting his ego aside, he wouldn’t
challenge Rocky as it might spell the end of his military career.
“Why are you all just standing there? Get over here and welcome our new captain!” Kye shouted at his
other team members.
“Welcome, captain!” the spirit warriors saluted with slight hesitation.
“Gather all the members of the spirit warrior team. I want to get to know them,” Rocky ordered.
“Yes, captain.” Kye glanced at Rocky and then left with his team members.
“Basil, you’re amazing! You’ve managed to put Kye in his place in the blink of an eye!” Gage praised
from the side. He couldn’t help but admire him because, despite his youthful looks, he was quite an
experienced general judging from the behaviors he just exemplified. His dominance pushed the others
into submission.
“What are you talking about? He’s just putting on an act. It’s impossible for him to accept such a
change on such short notice. He’ll definitely be a stick-in-the-mud in secret. When the priest climbs a
foot, the devil climbs ten feet. I’d like to see what tricks he has up his sleeves.” Rocky smiled as if he
had seen a glimpse of the future.
When he heard this, Gage’s admiration for Rocky soared from the bottom of his heart. He knew that
Rocky would be no ordinary leader.
Meanwhile, Kye began to go berserk as he rushed out of the camp with a few of the spirit warriors. He
kicked the furnace beside him furiously.
“Captain, don’t be so vexed. I don’t believe that guy is as cunning and powerful as you. Don’t lower
yourself to his level. Let’s go to the commander later and beg for another chance. Besides, you’ve
made tons of contributions as the leader of our team,” one of the team members said in an effort to
flatter and, hopefully, calm him down.
The other members agreed.
“You know nothing! He must have quite a background if the commander appointed him as the new
leader. Go and find out where he comes from at once.” Kye had served in the army for numerous
years. He knew the commander wouldn’t appoint some young, toy boy to replace him with no valid
reason.
“I’ll get to it immediately,” the team member who had tried to flatter him earlier said, then turned around
and left at once.
“Go and gather the others. Since the new captain has arrived, let’s make his welcome a truly special
one.” After he spoke, Kye whispered a few words to one of his team members who smiled in collusion
before he left immediately as well.
Not long after, the team member who set out to learn more about Rocky returned. He quickly informed
Kye with information regarding Rocky’s history.
“From the Sky-suppressing School? No wonder he’s so arrogant and condescending!” Kye’s face
twitched slightly. When it came to the Sky-suppressing School, he would immediately feel resentment.
He used to be a disciple there but was later expelled due to breaking a rule. After that, he had no other
choice but to join the army at the battlefield’s border.
