"Thank you very much, Chief!" Rocky exclaimed, cupping his hands and bowing his head out of
respect.
"Don't mention it. We have helped so little compared to what you have done for the human race." The
chief of the Di Clan waved his hand. Then he turned to Colton and said, "Colton, you have full authority
over this mission. Keep Basil and his companions safe!"
"Yes, Chief!" Colton replied, nodding his head firmly.
"Basil, feel free to remain in our clan with your friends until everything is ready. You deserve some rest,"
the chief added.
"Okay. Thank you."
Afterwards, Rocky, Marcia, and the others followed the Di Clan's servants to the accommodation that
had been arranged for them.
Colton also departed
in order to gather and prepare the troop for the mission.
A few days later, a loud thud echoed through the Cloud Pavilion at the Sky-suppressing Mansion. The
entire second floor of the building was a gigantic mess. Rubble covered the floor and dust floated down
from the ceiling.
Canaan glared at a black-robed figure in front of him and growled, "You said Alyssa was missing. When
did you find that out?"
"It was right after the spiritual race's retreat," the black-robed figure answered, cupping his hands and
cowering slightly under his master's anger.
"I thought something was suspicious about the sudden rout of the spiritual race. Now, it looks like I was
right." Canaan frowned. He had been planning for a long time and had never expected it to result in a
failure.
"Master!" Suddenly, a cyan-robed figure entered the room.
"Why are you here? I thought I told you to keep an eye on Basil!" Canaan exclaimed, turning to look at
Layton.
"Basil followed Colton, the human commander in chief, to the Di Clan. I can't keep watch on him while
he's there," Layton replied in a respectful tone.
"The Di Clan? How did he manage to make friends with the Di Clan?" Canaan's eyes turned cold and
his frown deepened.
"I don't know. But according to the information I collected while I was there, the Di Clan is gathering an
elite army to carry out a mission. Maybe it has something to do with Basil," Layton answered.
"It seems that I have underestimated this human. I never saw any of this coming, especially him
helping Colton defeat the spiritual race army. I made a mistake when I let him go!" Canaan took a deep
breath to collect himself and ordered, "Jaxton, keep searching for Alyssa. You must find her!"
"Yes, master!" The black-robed figure cupped his hands, bowed low, and vanished.
"Layton, come with me. We're going to the Di Clan." Layton nodded his head once and followed
Canaan downstairs.
They traveled a long way. Layton stayed obediently on Canaan's heels the whole time.
Two days later, they arrived at the Di Clan.
"Chief, the young master of the Sky-suppressing Mansion is here! It looks like he wants to visit with
you!" a disciple from the Di Clan reported, bursting into the hall. The chief paused his discussion
regarding family affairs with several elders and looked up at the disciple with concerned eyes.
"The young master of the Sky-suppressing Mansion?" The chief frowned. The Sky-suppressing
Mansion had had almost no contact with the Di Clan in a long time. The visit of the young master of the
Sky-suppressing Mansion was an uncommon occurrence. But he still ordered, "Please take him to the
side hall. I will meet with him later."
The disciple nodded and left the hall.
After he finished his discussion with the elders, the chief walked to the side hall by himself.
When he entered, Canaan was pacing slowly, waiting for him.
"Chief, it's nice to see you!" Canaan greeted respectfully, wearing a small smile on his face.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. Please take a seat!" the chief said as he stretched out his hand.
After they were sitting comfortably, the chief of the Di Clan asked, "May I know why you're here?"
"Yes. I've come for Commander Basil," Canaan answered plainly. There was no reason to lie or leave
out certain details.
"You know Basil?" The chief's eyebrows rose.
"We've met one time." Canaan nodded.
"So what do you want from Commander Basil?" the chief asked.
"It's a private matter between Commander Basil and I. Could you bring him to see me?" Canaan asked.
"I'm sorry but you've arrived a bit too late. Commander Basil left our clan yesterday," the chief replied
frankly.
"Oh. Where did he go?" Canaan probed, keeping his face straight.
"I'm sorry but I can't tell you that," the chief answered cautiously. Only a small number of people knew
the details of the secret mission. He wouldn't reveal them to someone he hadn't seen in such a long
time.
"Well, that puts me in a troublesome situation. I have something very important to report to Commander
Basil," Canaan said, pretending to be anxious.
"Is it really that important?" The chief had grown hesitant. Because Canaan was such an important
person, whatever he had to tell Rocky could be very urgent.
"There's no reason for me to hide it from you. Commander Basil visited me because he knew there was
a traitor in our mansion. I promised him that I would look into it and let him know the outcome," Canaan
said.
"There was a traitor in the Sky-suppressing Mansion?" The chief was caught off guard by that. Rocky
hadn't mentioned anything about a traitor to him.
"Yes, and I have found out the identity of the traitor. He conferred with the spiritual race and sold
information about our human army to them. The traitor also said that the spiritual race had ordered to
assassinate Commander Basil because of their defeat. I thought that this could put Commander Basil
in danger so I came as quickly as possible to warn him," Canaan explained.
"Is that true?" The chief didn't know what else to say in response. He was truly shocked.
"It is. Commander Basil may be in danger now. His whereabouts may have been revealed to the
spiritual race," Canaan continued.
"That's not good. Commander Basil and his companions went with Colton to the Demon Valley!" the
chief blurted out.
"The Demon Valley? Why would they go there? Isn't that within the territory of the Shura Race?"
Canaan asked, wearing surprise clearly on his face.
"It turns out that Commander Basil and his companions are actually from an alien land. They were
captured by the Shura Race before they were brought here," the chief told him.
"They came from an alien land?" Canaan's eyes narrowed in confusion and surprise. He had never
thought that Rocky was also from an alien land. He started to connect some dots in his mind. Alyssa's
sudden disappearance may have involved Rocky.
"Now that Commander Basil has been targeted by the spiritual race, we must inform him immediately. I
will send someone to deliver the message to him," the chief said, turning around to call his servants.
Suddenly, the gates of the side hall snapped shut due to an invisible force. At the same time, Canaan's
face darkened and a chilling evil aura spread from his limbs.
"What? You..." The chief looked at Canaan curiously. Something was clearly not right.
"Chief, thank you for all the information you have given me. Otherwise, my plan would have failed. I'm
sorry but I can't let you inform Basil," Canaan said to the chief with a sneer.
"You are not Canaan! Who the hell are you?" Suddenly, the chief realized that the man in front of him
was not who he said he was.
"Ha-ha! There's no point in telling you because you are going to die!" Canaan laughed wildly. Then, an
astonishing force emerged from him and shot towards the chief of the Di Clan.
