Chapter 1334: A Good Man, but He Isn’t Yours
The more he thought about it, the more anxious he became. He wanted to get out of bed and pace about, but he had no choice but to give up on the idea because of the condition of his body. He had to rest and recuperate if he hoped to recover his spiritual force in the shortest time possible.
He would recover, even with his shattered dantian. He had to return to Lan’er’s side – no matter the cost.
Si Mobai touched the Zhusha on his forehead. It was a seal. He needed spiritual force surpassing that of a high-levelled God Supreme to break the seal. Now that he had no spiritual force to work with, breaking the seal was near impossible.
“Lan’er, wait for me.” Si Mobai’s peach blossom eyes darkened. He clenched his fists, firming his resolve. He gave himself a month to recover. After a month, he would search for a way to repair his shattered dantian. He would not allow this setback to prevent him from cultivating again.
Huo Mingchen perused the books in the study, looking through obscure tomes searching for a way to the Xuantian Continent.
“Imperial Brother, why are you so enthusiastic? It’s better if he stays here.” Huo Ruojun harrumphed impatiently. She was between two minds, not knowing whether to commend or scold her brother for being too kind.
Huo Mingchen flipped through the pages without raising his head. Quietly, he murmured, “You should give up on whatever scheme you’re plotting. Didn’t you notice how distant he was? Don’t even think about marrying him. There are plenty of eligible men in Xuanchu alone. There’s no need for you to look elsewhere.”
“But I like him.” Huo Ruojun pouted. Seeing her Imperial brother so unmoved, she stepped up to him and snatched the book he was reading out of his hands. “Imperial Brother, please help me.” Huo Ruojin pleaded softly.
She really liked Si Mobai.
“What help do you need of me?” Huo Mingjun snatched the book he was reading back from her hands. Huo Ruojin lowered her eyes helplessly at her brother, who had returned to his book.
“Please help me marry him. His temperament is extraordinary. Even without spiritual force, his aura is that of a king’s. It’s terrifying. His aura is, by far, greater than yours. He must be of noble descent. With his status and our marriage, the throne will be yours for the taking!”
A fire burned brightly in Huo Ruojun’s eyes. The moment she laid eyes on Si Mobai’s handsome countenance and felt the unique aura around him, she knew he was the one. It was love at first sight. Si Mobai possessed an overwhelmingly domineering aura that left her smitten. His indifference towards her was simply the icing on the cake.
He was a man after her own heart. She wanted to conquer such a man!
“I saved him, that’s all. As for the throne, I don’t care. It’s just that some people won’t let me go, so I decided to try my luck.”
He felt that if he could save someone with his own ability, then he would save them. He harboured no other intentions. Humans are fragile, their lives expiring so easily. If he could save someone, then he would save them. If there were nothing he could do, he would not spend time mourning over his inability to effect change – it was pointless.
He merely wished always to put his best foot forward and to do his best.
“Trust me. The throne will be yours with his support,” Huo Ruojun proclaimed with certainty. Despite it being her first time meeting Si Mobai, she instinctively knew that he was not an ordinary person. He was likely concealing his true abilities.
Huo Mingcheng flipped through the last page, closed the book, and thrust the heavy tome into her hands, “If he abandons his fiancée just because of your identity, I will look down on him. Such a man is not reliable. You, my beloved sister, are more precious to me than anything else in this world. I would not offer you up to a man I looked down upon, not even if my life were on the line. You are my precious sister – not some item for sale!”
“Imperial Brother!” Huo Ruojun cried, suddenly feeling at a loss for words. She did not know what to feel. Though she was dissatisfied by his lack of cooperation, she felt warm knowing how much he cared for her.
Huo Mingcheng picked up another book and continued scanning through its contents. “Listen to me and listen well. Si Mobai is a good man, but he isn’t the one for you. A man as loyal as he is is a friend worth making.”
As a judge of character, Huo Mingcheng was seldom wrong. It was plain for all to see that Si Mobai loved his fiancée very much. It was rare to see such a man who stuck by his principles so firmly for the sake of one woman.
