Chapter 811: Xi Jin Looks for Feng Tianlan
Xi Jin thought for a while. He then looked at the crossroad in front of him, thought for a while longer, and walked to the right. Shen Yunya once said that she owed her life to the person called Shen Lan, which was why she agreed to his request.
This was really hilarious. Because he was blinded by sadness, he had muddled through the past three years. He really was a fool. How could he not have figured it out?
Shen Lan must have gotten hold of Shen Yunya’s secret, which explained why she was so afraid of him. Perhaps Shen Lan knew about the things that Shen Yunya had done. Besides, both of them had the surname Shen. This was too much of a coincidence.
He recently found out that Shen Lan had formed a mercenary regiment in Lin’an City. Therefore, he just had to go there to meet him.
Xi Jin looked at the words ‘United Mercenary Regiment’ that were right in front of him. He then braced himself and walked in. The building was fully packed as if they were all discussing something.
Mei’er was guiding those who had come to sign up for the assessment by showing them where to fill in their names and helping them with the registration process. She didn’t even notice Xi Jin’s presence at all.
“Miss, is Master Shen around?” After seeing that no one had come to entertain him, Xi Jin stepped forward to ask someone.
Right after Mei’er was done helping a person with the paperwork, she heard a gentle voice by her ear. She then abruptly raised her head and looked at Xi Jin. After staring at him for a while, she finally called out, “Crown Prince Jin?”
Although she wasn’t from Dongshu Nation, she had seen Crown Prince Jin riding on a tall horse during the grand wedding on the twelfth of April. Therefore, she could still recognize him.
Xi Jin responded with a soft ‘uh-huh,’ then asked, “Is Master Shen around?”
“No,” Mei’er replied without thinking.
Tianlan had ruined Xi Jin’s wedding. Could Crown Prince Jin be here to settle the score?
However, what she said was true as well. Tianlan really wasn’t around. She had her own things to attend to. They would only look for her if they were facing a problem that couldn’t be solved.
“Can I head upstairs and have a look?” Xi Jin was doubting her as he raised his head and looked towards the second floor.
Mei’er nodded. “Sure, but you can only go to the second floor.”
“Alright.” Xi Jin agreed amiably.
Mei’er put everything aside and brought Xi Jin to the second floor. Her steps were very light. She didn’t speak purposely because he might think that she was secretly notifying him.
Xi Jin looked around the second floor and didn’t see anyone there. He then smiled gently and asked, “May I know when Master Shen will return?”
“I don’t know. He didn’t say anything.” Mei’er couldn’t get angry at a person with such a good temper.
“Do you know where he normally goes?” he asked.
Mei’er shook her head. “Why is Crown Prince Jin looking for him? If it isn’t something serious, you can leave a message. I will convey it to him when he returns.”
“It’s alright.” Xi Jin thought for a moment, then looked at Mei’er and said,” If you see Master Shen, ask him to look for me in the palace when he’s free. I am not planning to find fault with him for ruining the wedding. I just had some questions that I would like to ask him.”
Mei’er agreed with a smile on her face. “I will convey your message to him when he returns.”
“Sorry for troubling you.” After saying that, Xi Jin turned around and left.
After watching him leave, Mei’er felt sorry for him. “Crown Prince Xi is so gentle. Why is he so unfortunate that he should have to marry a person who offended Tianlan?”
To Mei’er, the bride must be at fault to make Tianlan ruin her wedding personally. Otherwise, how was it possible for a good person like Tianlan to cause trouble?
When Xi Jin left the United Mercenary Regiment and was heading back to the palace, he saw Xi Lin walk by in a flustered manner. However, she didn’t even notice him. He couldn’t help but feel suspicious. He then followed after her and saw her entering the Bailan Alliance.
