Chapter 595: I Still Can’t Restrain Myself From Grieving
Feng Tianlan blinked. She then shut her eyes and lay in his arms when she thought about the scene where Gu Nansheng collapsed right in front of her. “Mobai, I was so close. I was just one breath away from saving her.”
“That’s why, it’s not your fault.” The injury on her palm must have been from saving Gu Nansheng.
“Just one more breath. Why couldn’t they wait? I’m the one they were trying to kill. Why couldn’t they just wait for a little while more?” If they had waited a little while more, Gu Nansheng would be fine while she would be weaker. Wasn’t it easier for them to kill her that way?
Why couldn’t they just wait for a little while longer? Why must they attack at such a crucial moment?
Si Mobai was hugging her dearly. “Lan’er, you were not the only one they wanted to kill. From the start, they treated everyone within a few miles radius as if they were dead. Those Spiritual Masters were self-destructing. Even if you managed to save Gu Nansheng, you would all still die. It didn’t matter if you were the first to die. Gu Nansheng and Azurite would have to die as well.”
That was Lin Suyin’s fatal plan. She wanted to kill Lan’er. She wanted to cover up her crime. She wanted nothing to do with this so that she didn’t have to feel guilty about it.
“Hope was right in front of me. However, it turned into despair in just a second.” Feng Tianlan buried herself in Si Mobai’s arms. “Mobai, you don’t understand how it feels.”
Si Mobai was patting her back gently. What was despair? He felt despair every time her life was in danger. However, he managed to arrive on time and save her from the abyss of despair.
“You didn’t care about the killers behind when you were trying to save her, while she sacrificed her life trying to save you.” Si Mobai rested his chin on her head and said gently. “Lan’er, if you were the one who died instead, would you wish to see her blame herself for life?”
Humans are selfish, and he was no exception. He wanted Lan’er to be well.
Feng Tianlan didn’t say a word. She just lay in his arms quietly.
Si Mobai persuaded her in a gentle but serious tone, “Lan’er, her life had intertwined with yours. Don’t let her sacrifice become something that causes you to blame yourself for the rest of your life. She wouldn’t want that.”
If it was him, he would have wanted her to keep living happily, instead of blaming herself. If she really became like that, he would rather take her with him — at least it would be better than her blaming herself for the rest of her life.
Feng Tianlan lay in his arms quietly.
Si Mobai stopped talking and hugged her quietly. The thing she needed the most right now was company.
Such is life — either party would have to pass away first. It’s just that the person who is the last to pass away would feel terrible, since the person who passed away was someone she cared for. That person was her best friend.
However, when one person leaves, another one comes along. One does not only have one best friend and close kin in one’s life.
He hoped that she would be able to move forward bravely no matter what happened. Even if she were to be alone, she had to walk till the end.
Feng Tianlan woke up once again. She was staring at the dark sky outside absent-mindedly. She then looked at Si Mobai who was still worried about her at the side and blinked while saying, “I’m fine. I can’t keep living a dispirited life. It’s just that I still can’t restrain myself from grieving right now.”
All humans had emotions. She was a human too. She had feeling and emotions.
Si Mobai stretched out his hand and tidied up her hair that had been messed up by the wind.
“I want to head to the dungeon. I want to take a look at her pain.”
“Alright.” Si Mobai carried her in a pampering manner and brought her to the dungeon.
The dark and damp dungeon gave out a gloomy vibe. Feng Tianlan’s body stiffened instinctively. She then rested softly in Si Mobai’s arms.
As she thought about her past life, Feng Tianlan suddenly said, “Mobai, I was once locked in a dungeon like this before. I was tortured for one day and one night.”
…
